I brought truck to assigned location. I received a text stating that i should do self checkIn if I dropped off during non-business hours. I brought the truck to location during business hours so I did not doctor self check in. When I i formed the man working there that I was returning the truck, he told me I had to do self-check in. I showed him the text that stated self checkIn for non-business hours. He said it doesn't matter. I have to do self checkIn. I couldn't get the location setting to work with the link I was given. I finally told him that he had to receive the truck. Then he said to me â€œare you sure you are at the right place?â€ This was very condescending. I said yes. He asked me again and asked me to state the address on the text. This was very unprofessional and inappropriate. He was rude and demeaning. Before returning the truck, I filled the gas tank to 5/8 to avoid a penalty, even though i should have be required to fill to 1/2 only. At a minimum, I expect uhaul to reimburse me $20 for the extra gas. I will never rent a truck from uhaul ever again. Additionally, I ordered over $200 worth of moving boxes and accessories. The order was wrong. I received fewer boxes than I ordered. I received the wrong tape. The entire experience was very stressful and frustrating.Ruth D.

We arrived at A+ storage at 10am only to find the office closed with no one on site. We called the storage unit emergency number and they said someone would be there at 11:15am. I wasted one hour waiting for this person only for him to tell us he cannot do the in person check in and the uhaul representative wouldn't be there until 2:30pm. I had to drive to another uhaul location to speak to the general manager there who authorized the A+ storage owner to hand us the keys. Not only was my reservation delayed by 3 hours to begin with, I wasted an additional 3 hrs before I was able to drive off with my uhaul truck at 1pm. I have never experienced such a mismanaged operation. On top of that, I requested an appliance dolly, paid extra money and did not receive it. He said I can go to another office if I really need it. Have people that are knowledgeable behind the desk, also that arrive to work on time. Very unprofessional when I needed to be at my location by 10:30 got there at 11:30 because of all the hoops I had to jump thru to get the truck and returning it as wellManny R.

Pick up my truck app didn't work, truck was parked so I could not get out anyway as it was blocked in by another uhaul van. Location does not allow a customer vehicle to be parked, would have been good to have been informed of that before driving out to it and then having to return in an Uber. Overall started my rental 2 hours later than planned due to these issues.MARK M.

I actually had a bad experience at this U-haul. I got there at my appointment time of 1:30, and someone left a note that they were out for lunch and would be back at 2. When I went to drop off the van, this location closed at 4, and I made sure I was back before that. I got there at 3:50, and asked if the guy could help me check out and close out my bill because I was worried I'd have to use a different card because I went over in miles, but he told me he couldn't help me. It was his last day and he was trying to leave early. I get it, but I was honestly really frustrated by the whole experience. I even called customer service at U-haul hoping at least for a 10% discount, and they left a message for the manager at this u-haul who not only didn't call me back about my frustrations but didn't offer a discount either. I'm honestly pretty frustrated by this - I spent at least 30 minutes on the phone yesterday with different agents at U-haul trying to get me to right customer service person, and with no follow up, it makes me feel like that was wasted time.Mary F.

This was the 2nd (of 3!) locations I had to visit to get equipment I reserved. Terrible! This location was awful...staffed by a kid who had no desire to be there or any idea how to help, dirty, boxes strewn everywhere...awful experience.Bryce H.

First my rental said I was picking up my truck at Rent 1 Equipment Rentals 126 Commercial Way When I arrived there they said they didn't have a truck for me. They said my truck was at 2850 Newport Blvd. I went there and they said that my truck was t was at 2458 Newport Blvd. What a run around . So i got my truck 35 minutes late and couldn't park my car at this site. Also the employee at this location did not wear a face mask The truck i was given has mechanical issuesRichard E.

The entire process was frustrating.. the online reservation changed my pickup location, even though I chose a specific one. Then my confirmation showed that the location was A+ Storage, and the address in the destination map online took me to the place I originally asked for. I had already filled out all the forms, and uploaded my ID and everything... but then when I arrived at the correct location, it made me do it all over again. THEN, I get a call from the guy at A+ Storage saying that they don't have my CC# and that I didn't complete the process - which I did. Very frustrating process.Kim H.

Was not able to park my car at the location, instead needed to find street parking. Would have preferred to have left car in a lot overnight. Was not told, and is not clear on website, that the 10dt truck I rented did not have a ramp. Also the dolly and blankets I pre-ordered were not available at the location. They offered to have them available to me at another location but that wasn't the point. I ordered days in advance to ensure I could just grab and go. Another frustration.They did not have any locks for sale to fit the back truck hitch. So I had to spend time going to hardware store to purchase a lock to secure my items overnight. The contract stated gas tank was at 1/4. It was not. Was closer to empty. I told the attendant and he said he would note this. When I returned the truck the new attendant said he knew nothing about this discrepancy. Moving is stressful. It would be nice if u-haul vendors could be a bit more helpful and upfront with the renter.Karen F.

Had my location changed the day before my pick up. When they called I was at work and the gal I spoke to let me know that she would send the information to me. She didn't explain that it would be. Virtual pick up. When I arrived the store was closed. I called and they got me to the right person to help use the lock box sice my pick already said it was already done. It took some time, but the gal on the phone was super patient and helpful. Got started a hour later then we wanted too. Truck drove like a dream 816 miles. Loved the service over all. I was asked if it was OK to text me and told I needed to â€œverify the equipment â€œ. All that was mentioned was concerning â€œverifying no damageâ€ & shape van was in. Nothing else was explained in advance, no mention was made of the fact I needed to respond on-site, plus needed to take a picture of dashboard mileage! Huge oversight on your part & why do your counter people not explain this & assume I have access to WiFi at your location in order to do this? I'd dropped the key before knowing of this. I went back a second time trying to do this process, without of course it working. This should have been the smoothest return ever, but wasn't due to lack of sufficient help by rental person, whose only customer I was at the time. He wasn't busy, just not helpful or conscientious enough.Vonna F.

Issues with the interpretation of the gas gauge. Either the truck gets less than 7 MPG, or the measurement was over inflated upon receiving, and return measurement was underestimated. Then attempting to charge $12 for allegedly 1/16 a tank of gas for what would amount to a single gallon of gas (since we're talking very slim margins, with a very primitive tool) is pretty poor business. It isn't like you are going out and filling the tanks up in between customers, so why should you make money off somebody else's labor, specifically a previous customer? Poor model. Tank should be full, or you should have a genuine way of measuring other than eyeballing down to 1/16 and making the gut call. I wonder what that may incentivize?Andrew P.

I GOT CHARGED TWICE FOR A RENTAL. I GOT CHARGED 70 FOR NO REASON. I WANTED AN IN TOWN RENTAL AND I GOT CHARGED WAY MORE AND FOR A BUNCH OF EQUIPMENT I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR. And at the end of it all the lock box my truck key was in had the code already on it so teqnically from the moment they left the key in it anyone could have taken the truck. let me make this clear... i went through the whole process got my code. walked up to the key box and it was already unlocked with the truck keys inside.Kassidy L.

Ill never use uhaul again. I'm just gonna use Home Depot from here on out. It was a terrible experience. I ordered a truck for 9am pick up but the place didn't open till 11am. So I was late to start my day. I have people who expect me and work for me. It was a massive inconvenience. Also, uhaul double charged me, then charged me an extra $22. They called me and told me they were gonna give me $50 for my troubles and I still haven't gotten it. Even tho it was 5 days ago. Awful customer service. Awful equipment and terrible experience. I appreciate they were open a little earlier then posted. Truck was a little dirty inside and blankets were a little dirty. But none of it was major concern. My husband and I went to this location to pick up a van that I went online to reserve. The young girl and young boy tried to give us a truck. The amount of time it took to check out was painful. I did everything online, yet they made me do it all over again. My husband wanted to rent a dolly and they could not figure out how to do that, even though we were looking at one, we walked out with no dolly! Horrible experience!Patricia B.

1-Van was marked as having a full tank, it did not. Upon asking the person in charge, he became rude and said "it's not big deal, I am the one taking it back anyway" he became annoyed. There is no need to be rude to a customer, I was polite and professional all along, what a shame to be treated that way. 2-van was not inspected upon return, odd, also same carefree "I don't care attitude" shown. I was not given the option to pay on the spot. Overall BAD experience. This location should stop participating in the rental side of the business. They run a storage facility which maybe should be their focus. Our van wasn't ready at our pickup time because they couldnt find the keys. They attempted to call nearby locations to get us a van and one of the two just hung up on them. This leads me to believe they don't have a very good reputation in the business. Needless to say our confidence was not very high by the time they finally found the key. Upon opening the rear of the van I was overwhelmed by the smell of animal dander. There was grass, dirt, and a pile either dog or cat food in the back. I asked to have it cleaned and the owner came back with a broom. When I asked for a vacuum one of the guys left to find one and was gone so long that I just had to take the van as it was. I was on a very tight schedule because the van was to be used to transport everything to decorate my wedding. While driving I got watery eyes and an itchy throat and of course had to keep the windows rolled down due to the smell. I will NOT be back to this location and would be hesitant to use any location where the overnight drop of policy is in effect. This was the excuse they gave for the vans condition. That someone had dropped it overnight. My pickup was at NOON! Why couldnt they have fixed the issues first thing in the morning? Also, I had asked the worker as I was leaving if we could discuss some sort of partial refund when I returned. He basically said, "no". and that was that. Parking is tricky. No onsite parking available, only street parking on neighborhood streets. Also, vehicle was unlocked with keys inside since this was an 8 am pick up. (I specified 8 am pick up, but they told me onsite later that Uhaul didn't tell them 8 am, just anytime at night.) I suggest a keypad lockbox w key. When checking in, code to unlock can be text. Because it was unlocked all night, a bum may have crawled into the back. There was vomit in the back when I picked it up.Adam G.

The guy "helping" didn't want to be bothered. I needed a suggestion based on what I was moving and he cut me off mid conversation said the 20.....I looked at him it's one bedroom w boxed he said pick which ever u want. Where do I begin? First, they don't rent the pads, even though it allows you to on their website. Second they didn't provide enough gas to even get me to my location in San Diego. And when I returned it, they nitpicked $6 out of me because the gas was a less than a fraction below where it started. Oh, and my friend who followed behind me told me both taillights, and one of the brake lights, didn't work. I'll stop there. I won't be back.Anthony P.

The mileage out was off by 10 miles, showing that the truck was out with 10 less miles than what showed on the odometer. I notified the office and they said they would note and correct it when I brought the truck back. I brought the truck back 14 hours earlier than stated on my contract. Everyone said they could not correct the mileage. For the additional $8.90 cost for the 10 miles U-Haul has lost me as a customer. My family and I have periodically used U-Haul for as long as 35 years, but on principle I will not return to a place that is charging me for 10 miles I did not drive. I feel cheated.Ronnie Y.
