It took 45 minutes to check in because your computer program sucks. None of the trailers had an adapter for lights hook-up. Why don't you join the 21st century. I was not allowed to return the trailer to a much, much closer location than where I picked it up. After holding the phone for 12 minutes I was told no with no explanation. Never again.RALPHEDWARD N.
I arrived to pickup my Uhaul trailer and talked to the women at the desk. She asked me to wait outside briefly while she went on the grounds with another customer. I then waited 20+ mins and watched her help several other customers that arrived AFTER me before she finally served me.Jared M.

Female attendant was very rude in voice tone telling me she didn't have the equipment. I told her the equipment was there and she replied to take it. She kept herself behind a closed/locked door. No one looked at the equipment nor came outside to help hitch it to the truck.Andrea C.

Location was not tracking my reservation yet accepted my equipment the evening before it was due. I called the business the next day just for them to tell me they can't accept it I have to take it somewhere else. They charged me for gas that had already been put in the truck past the level upon first renting the truck. They charged me for a dolly that was not even on the truck when I rented it. I had to rent a dolly from the Crater Road store(check for yourself). The person who rented the truck to me wasn't well versed in the knowledge of renting. First time using the facility. I originally reserved the equipment at the Colonial Heights, VA location because it was a full service center but we were notified the trailer would need to be picked up at the Petersburg, VA location instead. The Petersburg location was a Storage facility and we had to wait approximately 15 minutes for the attendant to return. Although she was very friendly, she couldn't answer all of our questions. When we found the trailer my husband and I did a walk around checking the trailer for problems or deficiencies. The passenger side tire had a bald spot ( the whole tire was not bald) which suggested someone had applied the brakes pretty hard or the tire was wearing funny. Tire pressure was fine and although a little skeptical we decided to take the trailer. The brakes lights and turn signals were in working order but unfortunately, the running lights were not. We were unaware of the problem with the running lights until were had it packed and ready at approximately 9:30pm on 04/28/18. My husband re-wired the plug adapter on his truck but that did not fix the problem. We were very lucky we weren't pulled over that night while on our way to our hotel. We left Chester, VA for Westfield, NY at 10:00am on 04/29/18 and thankfully we didn't need to rely on the running lights. When the trailer was returned to the Westfield, NY location and we spoke to the attendant he was quite nonchalant and unapologetic regarding the lack of maintenance on this trailer. What a slap in the face experience this was considering it was strongly suggested we purchase the $30 tow insurance and if anything were to happen the fine print indicated we could still be held responsible for any damages that could occur. Could we have done things differently? Possibly, but we had limited time, were 500+ miles away from home and under the impression all U-Haul equipment is serviced after each use. Apparently not. IT took 45 minutes to process my rental through your computer system and that was after I had reserved the trailer online and filled in all of the pertinent information. It should have been a matter of verifying the information I had given and taking my payment.Michael J.

My reservation was changed 3 times before I even picked up the u-haul, but the staff was prompt concerning the notification. However the actual pick up and drop off location had very poor customer service! It took 45 minutes to actually pay for the reservation because she was unable to process payment. She stated it was due to the U-haul website. Drop off was even worse, she asked us to write down our own mileage. Then after I reviewed my receipt I notice an additional charge that she never went over. When I questioned it , she told me to call the customer service number and they'll explain it because she didn't work for U-haul. The manager Holly got involved and she seemed as if I was bothering her! She had a very nasty attitude and accused me of starting the altercation. Very poor serviceMonrelle P.

The location is set beside train tracks. A train blocked the entrance to the location coming and going. It literally just sat there. Added about 15 mins, but we were early anyway. I opted for self pickup, but at that location I had to have a gate code to enter. Not sure why self pickup was even an option. Also, everything that I entered online had to be re-entered by the person checking me in. Why the redundancy?Alita W.

I filed a complaint with the BBB about this place. Been using U-Haul with military moves for 20+years and this was the worst customer service I ever received. Have not received any response to my complaint; not surprised given the situation.ROBERT S.

23558447- This is my second dealing with U-Haul and a poor one once again. I made a reseration for 7/30 at another location which was wrong. I in turn had to go with this location with a 10 foot truck as oppose to a 24 and I had to drive 24 miles to get the truck. I returned the truck and ran into the same issue stating I resered the truck for 14 hours when I did NOT both times was for 24 hours. I returned the truck at 9:00 am the next day once they opened and was told I owe for 2 days when I just picked up the truck the day prior to at 11:00 AM. When I picked up the truck the previous attendent said if we are not here drop the key in the box and leave it in the lot. I really feel that the attendent was trying to rip me off! I made a reservation for pick up and when I arrived the truck that I reserved wasn't at the location. I also did the express checkout online and I had to do another checkout with the other truck which took up more time than I expected. I was real disappointed and I only drove five miles and was charged an extra eighteen dollars.Moshe C.

I had reserved (a couple weeks out) a car transport for pick up in Richmond, VA but when the time came to get one I had to go to Petersburg, VA, almost an hour away. In addition when I arrived there was nobody there (at lunch) and had to wait. Uhaul said they would take 15% off my cost but they did not.PIERRE P.

I didn't have problems with petersburg location, i was upset with asland va area I resevered with them and they sent me two peterburge location, I was very upset because I wouldn't of had the extra mile it they would of gave me what I rsvp online line then I went right by the place that had what I rsvp and right there in the parking lot I don't think I would use uhaul again.Shameika J.

First, I was very upset that I had to drive over an hour get the trailer. There are many u-haul places in Richmond VA and to have to go to Petersburg to get the trailer and spend over an hour on the highway to get there and back was concerning. This was not told to us when we reserved the trailer. The individual I worked with at AAAA storage was very pleasant. However When we went to hook up the trailer we found out that I needed an adapter to plug in to our car so the trailer lights would work. They didn't have any for sale and I had to go down the road a mile to purchase one from a U-Haul dealer/store.SCOTT W.
I rented this uhaul for a move from Petersburg to new Kent county. I've used several uhauls in the past and have always dropped them off near my destination. That Monday after the move a representative called me and asked if I was bringing the uhaul back. I explained to him that iI had dropped it off in new kent and he stated that this particular uhaul needed to be returned from where I rented it, however the sales associate neglected this information at the time of purchase. The uhaul itself had potatoe chip crumbs in the floor board, what appeared to be dog hair, and cigarette ashes in the ashe tray. It did however get the job done. The sales associate also did not perform a walk around the vehicle with me.kevin H.

No one from U-haul called us the evening prior to let us know where to pick up the trailer. The place we requested is open 2 hours prior to the actual place where we were sent to pick up. When we went to pick up at our preferred location, we were told that we had to go to the other location which wasn't even going to open until an hour later. I can't think of anything better than the treatment we received. Budget Rental broke their contract to us not once, but twice and left several people stranded. Us, on the other hand, got on our cell phones and called you. We explained out situation and you immediately said "Lets see what we can do for you"! And, you came through for us like Champs! We were able to move our son from Chester to his new location and before the storm "Sandy". Our son did not think his parents could do it, but with your help, we did! It took an hour to check out. Shannon Wade the manager could not get the one-way rental on my credit card. It took 3 or 4 phone calls to your help line to get it to accept the charges. She said it had something to do with the fact they were not a franchise u-haul store. This was the third time i've done a one-way rental from uhaul in the Petersburg, Va area this summer. I will think twice about renting again if the truck is not from a franchised store. I did not have any trouble checking out at the francised stores and my bill was almost twice the amount. Shannon did the best job she could given the circumstances. The location did not have all the accessories I requested with the truck. Moving blankets were not all clean and had to be folded from the last rental. Prevoiusly when I made all the arrangements on line including purchasing packing supplies, I had to pick up the supplies at one location and the truck at another location. I may have to make one more trip and I may consider using Penske instead.ROGER F.

In Petesburg, VA, Sharon the site manager was extremely helpful. she even offered to keep the office open later than required in order to accommodate my arrival, should that be necessary. It wasn't, but just the fact that she was so customer oriented was a refreshing change.Carol A.
From past uhaul experiences I have had, trucks have always been clean. The agent in the store was not there when I got there. She was around back talking I had to wait 15 mins before being assisted and when I was she was so distracted (her phone, she had to check her messages cause her "boo" likes to check on her so that took up some time, somebody passed by to go into the storage place, she had to stop and say hello. I was annoyed. The time it took of r me to get a truck and attest my copies was ridiculous. The truck smelled and customer service was not up to par.Farah J.
