The boss of ace hardware was very rude and disrespectful snatched the keys and walked outside even after i had already did the self check-im and because of his "rude customer service " i would not recommend this location to anyone other than yhat everything was greatOrvel B.

Clean the equipment and it was not my original place to pick up the truck so I was a little disappointed how to drive a little bit of distance to pick up the truck so I use more mileagewanda S.

There was a major computer error where.if refused to take mines and other customers forms of payment then when I tried to contact uhaul about it it was almost an hour wait just to get someone on the phone and now I'm being charged basically double for a company computer failure that I have not control over. Now I ask you how is that fair to your customers?Leroy C.

I asked for a dolly on my reservation and there was not one at that location. Also, I returned the truck early, but am being charged for an extra day because the return was not entered until two hours after my scheduled return time.AIMEEDANIELLE D.
I was very careful to return the truck with the same amount of fuel. I took before and after pictures of the fuel gauge and odometer. Matched the fuel exactly and they changed me for 3 gallons of fuel. I'm very upset with this situation. I did return the truck after hours, being it was New Year's Eve. I put the key in the drop box, so I didn't get to go over anything with an employee.TERRY I.

Unfortunately when we opened the back of the U-haul there were mattresses and blankets where someone was evidently sleeping in the back of the truck; they even had a animal bed. To their credit, the staff were very nice and helpful and we took it back and they cleaned it out and even sanitized it when we asked. They also credited us mileage and gas for having to come back. The incident just left a bad taste b/c during this climate of Covid; it didn't sit well and made us think about the fact that they evidently don't check the trucks prior to renting them. I would still recommend this site because they did do good customer service.sylvia F.

Truck was clean, however: Truck needs alignment, possible tie rod issue. Steering pulled randomly in both directions, most noticable (and exciting) on the highway.KEVINSCOTT M.
The truck was very much out of alignment, strongly pulled to both the left and right and extremely difficult to drive, took great effort to keep in the lane. We did advise of this when we turned it back in. So better customer service would be having trucks in good condition and for the cost that should be the expectation to say the least.DEBBIE S.

My confirmation was for Williams Auto & Son LLC, 5936 Jefferson Ave Newport News, VA 23605, but when we arrived, we were told we did not have a reservation there. We were given a number to call to find out where we were reserved, which wound up being in Hampton. Not sure whose fault this was, but it did put us way behind schedule.Michael K.
When someone rents something, be it an appliance dolly or a truck which was unavailable on a previous occasion the customer should probably be made aware ahead of time so they can make other arrangements other than that my experience was quite goodOscar G.

Ace harware should stick to selling hardware not UHaul services. The storeworkers were rude, condescending and treated me as if it was such a problem to assist me. The rental check out clerk didn't tell me to refill the truck upon return. When I returned it, the check-in clerk was rude and treated me as if I was an ignorant person. When I returned the truck with a full tank, and went to the counter he looked straight at me and didn't come over to complete the return process. I had to ask twice for someone to come to the counter so I could finish the rental return. Truly embarrassing and hurtful. No one should be treated like they don't matter!! Sweep floor of van. Had chips and drink holders were sticky. Have associates more knowledgeable when working I haul desk. Have wrong truck as well as over charged. The worker was upset because she said she was not familiar with the uhaul rental system. I spent 40 minutes trying to get my truck and the lady threw the keys on the counter. I had to return because I was not given a pick up truck and the. Waited another 20 minutes because she did not know to change the truck in the system. Signed up for 24/7 access to pick up truck but still had to go inside the store and stand in line in order to get the keys. This cut into my paid for time. Would recommend making retailer honor 24/7 access and place keys in lock box like expected.Robert B.

I had originally requested a pickup but was notified after I reserved online that this location didn't have a pickup available but suggested another location. Since the other location was inconvenient for me I asked what else was available. I was told a 10 ft truck was avaible so agreed to that even though the per mile rate was higher. When I went to the Ace to pick up the truck, I was told it was not a 10 ft but a 15 ft truck. This was more than I-needed for what I had to move but the guy who waited on me said they wouldn't charge any extra. Overall, no complaint but when I was there to pick up the truck and return it, there were two pickups and a 10footer in the parking lot.Linda S.

When Uhaul booked the equipment, the only option was a location 12 miles away from my residence. Within 5 miles of my house, there are multiple Uhaul locations to include the legitimate Uhaul main location. It is clear that Uhaul clearly uses this move inventory at a cost to the customers and not to the company.Leslie K.
Our experience was horrible. We reserved a 26' truck for pick up at 8am in Portsmouth. My husband arrived to pick it up and we were told it wasn't available until 1pm. Which would not work at we were moving out of state and needed to be packed and on the road by 1. We were then told there were no 26' trucks available for pick up in the area. The best the could do was a 20' truck that we would have to drive to Hampton to get. Which meant using our gas to get to Hampton and back. And a 20' truck wasn't going to fit all our stuff. But it was the only thing we could do. So now I have stuff left in storage that I have to figure out when/how to move. I'll have to rent another truck. Again, we moved out of state. I work full time. This was a huge inconvenience, for what should have been a quick and easy pick up.John M.

I called another local rental site prior to calling this one and was placed on hold for at least a half hour and finally hung up. Tried again later and the same thing happened. Tried to reserve the truck online and that didn't work either. Finally called a third site and they arranged the rental for me. Also, when I got the confirmation email, I entered all the info on the website (for "faster" pickup) like the email said but when I got to the rental site, I had to provide all the info all over again. Looks like you have some work to do - to make all this work. On the "better" side - you were half the price of Budget !!!!Bruce C.
