We booked our Uhaul for a one-way trip about 6 weeks in advance. Owner of this Homer Alaska Uhaul location called me the day before our scheduled pickup date to say he didn't have a vehicle available for me. I was upset and insisted we had confirmed with Uhaul 6 weeks in advance. He said he owned a car rental company and could rent me a car instead but only for a 2-way. I told him that we were unable to return a vehicle back to Homer. He said he could go pickup a Uhaul truck that evening from a different location so it'll be ready for my reserved time but it would cost me $200 extra dollars. He couldn't explain why it would cost me $200 extra dollars for a rental reservation that I already paid in full for. When I arrived at his location to pick up the Uhaul, he said he was now going to need my credit card so he could charge me the $230 extra dollars for the Uhaul. I said my card is already attached to the Uhaul reservation. He said he needed my card because he was going to charge $230 for getting us the Uhaul for his personal car rental company, not Uhaul. That's when we realized he was doing some shady business. We refused to pay. He refused to give us the Uhaul. We said we would call Uhaul corporate first so we could hear directly from them why he's charging us an extra $230 to his personal company for a reservation we made 6 weeks in advance. That's when he told us calling corporate isn't necessary, he'll just charge us $30 instead to his personal company and forget about the extra $200. We wanted to get out of there as soon as possible so we agreed to pay him $30 even though we knew we didn't owe his personal company a dime. Don't go to this location if you can avoid it.Monique S.
Less confusing web site. I thought I had paid for the extra insurance but they charged me again when I picked up the vehicle. Also not so sure about the $30.00 Covid-19 â€œcleaning â€œ charge. Remember to tell customers that the TOW mode on the transmission AUTOMATICALLY engages when the ignition is turned on. If they don't need that mode (and to save fuel) they will need to push the button on the shift lever to disengage it.Allison B.

I would like to see all charges and fees disclosed on the website. I was charged a 25 dollar cleaning fee because of the virus. It wasn't posted online and it's a little irksome to be told price X online only to have to pay X+25 in the end.KRISTINA G.

I worked with two employees at this location Tannen Berry who did a great job of getting the equipment ready and me loaded up for my trip. Tara Smith was the employee who figured out what equipment I could use (this after an employee in an Anchorage u-haul facility told me no trailer would work for my vehicle). Tara also helped me after the trip to help straighten out a billing problem. She is a valuable employee for the U-haul operation in Homer.Robert S.

Make sure when you send equipment that is going to make a 3700 hundred mile trip. That it's not going to lose a hub on the auto transport all of the bolts that hold the hubs on the transport we lose. Road side service was very helpfulBen J.

The truck was in decient shape . The weather stripping leaked air and noise to the level that my wife and I were only able to carry on a conversation while wearing our intercom motorcycle helmets. The truck did have great breaks and drove well down the roads. We did not speed as the wind noise at 70 mph was so loud it would give us headaches.william P.

Your website states that the Homer store is only open until 4pm on Saturdays. That is incorrect, they're open until 5pm on Saturdays. Which made a BIG difference being that we had to drive 6+ hours to get to Homer,Paul K.

I rented a 26' truck in Anchorage for a lot less per mole than this 10' truck that cost me .79 per mile. Nice truck but was astounded by the mileage rate!paul T.

though not the fault of the pick up location I received my truck my truck two days later than when I reserved it Because of this the help I had lined up to pack were not available when I got it.This also delayed my leaving by two days so the people helping with the drive could not go the entire way or help unload my truck Since my wife and I are both elderly and have health issues we had to hire someone to help unload. This cost an additional $200 over what I paid for the truck.I will look elsewhere when renting a truck after this fiasco with Uhaul and not recommend your company to anyone else.This has been my worst moving experience ever. I feel that since I booked my truck weeks in advance I should not have been put through this ordeal. Somehow a truck should have been ready as promisedJeffery A.
