I moved from Columbus to Holland and this was the first time I had to drop off a truck after hours. This location was perfect for this application. I used the phone app link that they sent me and followed the directions. I called the next day to check and the staff was very friendly and understanding to my needs. I drove directly to and from my location I had planned with uhaul. I avoided a toll road and in turn uhaul said I drove an extra 65 miles and is ripping me off with a dollar a mile. This is a ridiculous charge for someone who is giving you business. I in no way intend to drive a longer route. I went from point Abto point B. I am very disappointed with this charge over a drop in the bucket amount of miles that you say is to much. I will no longer be using uhaul wich I was using several times a year prior to this. I feel taken advantage of and frankly ripped off. Just because I guess I didn't take the most direct route that you say to take which involves tolls. The lady that accepted the 26' truck back into the U Haul 'family was a lovely person, but when we told her that we had swept out and cleaned up the truck, as requested inside the truck, so that we could receive our $25 CREDIT for doing so, she said that she didn't know anything about it. She never offered to call anyone to determine how to get us our credit either. She just gave us a thank you after checking the truck in and sent us on our merry way! Please tell us how to get our $25 credit??? Hmm???Laura W.

To whom it may concern, I recently rented a U-Haul truck for my moving needs, it was the worst experience I have ever encountered and I expect my concern to be addressed and corrected. Please see various complaints below: I received a text on Friday (4/29/22) that I was going to be given a 26 foot truck and that they wanted me to tow a trailer from Knoxville to Columbus. I called to discuss this, I was bounced around to 4 different people before my question/concerns could be addressed. I had ordered a 15 foot truck to be picked up in Athens, TN, when I arrived at the designated location, I was told that they did not have a truck for me. They told me my truck was in Sweetwater, TN which is out of the way from my home. No one had bothered me to contact me with this rather important information....I was fuming! I arrive in Sweetwater to pick up the truck, I was given a 26 foot truck rather than the 15 foot I had rented. I live on a very narrow mountain lane....there is a reason I rented a 15 foot truck. I only had help available for that one day, I had no choice but to take the larger vehicle. Once I got home getting the truck to my house was a nighmare. We literally had to back-up this mountain lane for 1/4 of a mile! We could not get the truck close enough to the house to use the ramp, again, there was a specific reason I rented the smaller truck. I called customer service to voice my concerns, again, I was bounced around from person to person and had to hold two times for longer than 30 minutes each time....I was supposed to be loading the truck, not sitting on hold. Once I finally for through to someone, they told me I would be given a $50 credit since no one had called me about changes to my rental. I explained to her why I was so angry, not only was the truck to big, but the fuel would cost me much more than I had budgeted. She told me that the 26 foot truck gets the same milage as the 15 foot truck and that it wouldn't be a difference. Now, I'm no automotive engineer, however, it's common sense that due to the large size difference, milage will indeed be different. I have used U-Haul many times for my moving needs but after this disaster, I will never book with your company again. This experience was uncalled for and unprofessional. We were having problems with the app to check in so we had to go inside for help. The person who helped us was very nice but she didn't seem to know what she was doing. She had to make multiple phone calls for help. The truck we were initially assigned was super loud and there was black smoke from the exhaust. We had to go back inside to request a different truck. Fortunately there was one available. It took us almost an hour from the time we arrived to be on our way.Tom D.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I called late in the afternoon and needed a truck that same day. They really didn't have one available as the 3 they had on the lot were all going out within that next day or two, and obviously they can't rely on someone returning by the time that person had actually reserved it for. But the office person was super eager to help with my situation so without any grief at all she accepted my solemn promise to return it the next day, and she did not once seem upset over it or worried. The only vibe given from her was the eagerness and desire to help in any way possible. I got there within an hour of closing and was pleased to receive the warmest greeting and she remembered me from our phone call. The process of paperwork and verbal policies needed to be stated was insanely easy and fast. No hassle. No added stress. The truck was clean and maintained perfectly. Perfect experience.AMANDA S.

The return policy was unclear in regards to the text message I received asking me to follow a link upon after hours return. I did not click it until I got home, and it forced me to give access to my phone location, without any option to decline, threatening a$20 fee if I didn't allow access to my phones location. Very disappointed in uhauls policy, and will be discussing with my friends.Jason S.

While using the app to check in, I was unaware that my reservation had expired since we were late picking our truck up. The app didn't tell me this. It just kept telling my husband, mother-in-law and I that we had no network connection. We all had signal and data on our phones. When I called customer service about this issue, the lady I spoke with was incredibly rude to me and insisted that all three of us must have been out of our data on our phones, which is unlimited, and it had to be our phones malfunctioning. I've never been so angry with the way I was treated during an already stressful situation. She eventually hung up on me. I will never ever recommend UHAUL to anyone because of how terrible this experience was.Christopher K.

Things went well as we traveled 600 miles to pick up the rest of our things in TN. On the way to our new home, not so much. I was the only driver (69 y.o., 5'3" 125#) grandma. My husband rode shotgun due to an ankle fracture that precluded him from driving. Just south of Louisville, KY, the "check engine" light came on. I contacted Roadside Assistance & was told it could be 2 - 3 hours before help could arrive. There was no guarantee the truck could be fixed, or that we could get another 10' truck. The adviser said if it was acting OK I could drive it to the nearest Uhaul store, for which no information was provided. I did a Google search & found a place. The guy sold used cars & boats & could not help. He directed us north on I-65 to a "real" Uhaul store. They were very busy & were not AT ALL HELPFUL!!! We were there for 2 hours, waiting for them to find us another 10' truck. I had emergency service on the phone & the GM would not talk to them until I got very upset & yelled at her. To make a long story short, I ended up calling a Penske truck rental in New Albany, IN, about 30 minutes from Shepherdsville, KY. We got a better deal, a bigger truck & help unloading & reloading the two trucks. After calling Roadside Assistance AGAIN to let them know what we had done, we were told to stay with the truck until the tow truck arrived, within an hour at the most. I got a text an hour later, checking to see if we'd been assisted yet. Replied no. About 30 minutes later we got a call letting us know the towing company had a breakdown & we could leave. After wasting several hours, & a LOT of money, we incurred additional expense because we had to stay in a hotel. The local Uhaul store in Swanton, OH was awesome as far as customer service was concerned. We were contacted on Monday by Patty, who responded to my voice mail telling her of our ordeal. She has been the shining star in this whole debacle. We have spent over $900.00 for the Uhaul, Penske & an additional night hotel stay. Uhaul needs to make this right for us. We live on a fixed income & cannot afford all these extra expenses. We're counting on Uhaul to do the right thing.Barbara C.

This company is a joke. I would recommend to anyone moving to use any other truck company. They screwed up almost every part of the reservation. I had to go 20 miles out of my way to pick the truck up because they didn't bring it to my location and the lied to me about the 24/7 pick up because I had to to sit around for 2 hours waiting for the place to open. I then asked if I was going to get charged the extra miles because of their problem and they said no. Well you guessed it, they tried to charge me extra when I dropped it off. I urge you to use any other company. It will save you a lot of problems and headaches.Joseph M.

The service personnel met us as soon as we parked the truck! Was helpful, asked if we had all of our rented equipment in the truck, and if the was enough gas in the truck as well. We ordered a truck for pick up in the Bowling Green OH area and the day before, we were instructed to pick up truck at a LATER time in a remote location about 30-45 minutes away. We had to drive this distance in our car which is NOT what we expected to do. We Were NOT happy that we had to put mileage and extra gas into our vehicle. Not happy at all!!! Have an individual on site that has the knowledge of software and equipment being rented. Rent what is asked for and charge accordingly. I rented for 1 day was charged for 2 days. I asked for insurance on equipment and was not included when I picked up final receipt. The adaptor for trailer lights was not included and pulled the trailer to Napa store to purchase and hook up lights there. Overall not a good experience.dennis B.

I went to my local uhaul on Friday and they said they didn't have my uhaul. I was pissed off because i had to leave work early to pick it up. They spoke to someone on the phone and said I had to drive 20 minutes to go get it. No one called me or emailed about that. How was i suppose to know that i had to go pick it up somewhere else? Granted they upgraded the truck to a 15 foot but in the end I still ended up paying the same amount. How is that fair? I had to drive 20 extra minutes? Shouldn't it be cheaper because of milage and all that stuff. I like uhaul but I am very disappointed at this entire Situation. Especially since no one told.
