The location for pickup and drop off were great. But the automatic changing of locations is terrible.

Christopher PI made an online reservation for a 9-foot van, and when I arrived, the attendant asked how long I would need it. He then told me that their online reservation system doesn’t actually work. This was confusing because when I called the day before to ask about availability, I was specifically advised to make a reservation as soon as possible because they accept online reservations. I explained that I wouldn’t need the van for very long because I was simply going to the transfer station and back, so about an hour or so. The attendant then told me that their vans aren’t allowed to be taken to the dump because they are “brand new,” and that I would need to rent a box truck instead. I understand that businesses can have policies regarding how their vehicles are used, but if this is a restriction, it should be clearly communicated when customers are making reservations. From a customer’s perspective, it shouldn’t matter what the vehicle is being used for as long as it is returned in the same condition and the rental terms are followed. I agreed to take the box truck instead, as long as it would be the same price as my original reservation. The attendant told me it would actually be cheaper. However, I ended up paying $50 for the rental plus another $20 to refill the gas tank, so it ultimately was not cheaper than my original reservation. Overall, this was a frustrating and inconvenient experience, especially while I was already dealing with the stress of the project I was working on. Better communication about the vehicle restrictions and a functioning reservation system would have prevented most of this. I would recommend this location based on its convenient location, but unfortunately not based on customer service or overall convenience.

Linda DThis isn’t exactly an indictment on this location as it is on U-Haul as a whole. I originally booked the Gulf location for a Sunday pickup. I was called by U-Haul customer service on Saturday as I was driving from Florida to Asheville to move my daughter on Sunday. The woman said there were no 15’ trucks available and asked if I would be ok with Weaverville which is 4 miles away, I agreed but it was a location I’d have to use the app to get a vehicle. I arrived on Sunday at 9 am, the app would not work, blank screens, app shutdown down and the wait for customer service to U-Haul was 50 mins. The location at Weaverville was not open so nobody was answering their phone. I went to the Gulf location at 10 am, there were 7 people in line in front of me. While in line I made a new reservation using the Gulf location and was able to get a truck an hour later. This was an AWFUL experience!!!!! I spoke to many people in line that echoed the same issues when using U-Haul, the app and had the same terrible customer service experience.
JASON SRichard was great we called in advance to make sure they were open and had what we needed. We then proceeded to their location. They were available when we arrived and made everything simple. Great place Sandy and Steve This was not the case with the location at Monticello . That man didn't answer the phone or return any voice messages. We went there first but glad we found Allen'sGulf instead.

Jose BThey wouldnt let me use the reservation I created on the app. They said they had to cancel it beause I was required to get insurance, even though I was able to decline it on the app reservation. I think they made up their own policy to increase revenue. Kinda shady

Claudia CThe office was closed when we arrived at 11:30 for our scheduled appointment. There were no notes on the door saying when someone may return. Nobody answered the phone at the site. After 20 minutes of waiting someone finally came to the door of the house, next door to the office which my wife had been knocking on. The gentleman was unfriendly and stated that he just wanted to finish lunch. He tried to present the persona of professionalism throughout the rental process but it was very evident that he was displeased and somewhat agitated. It was rather uncomfortable and unpleasant. I did not appreciate the attitude but I appreciated even less having to wait without even knowing if someone would eventually show up or if I would need to go to another dealer. Something I definitely did not have time to do. My hope is that he was just having a bad day and that this is not normal. He did his job well when he showed up even if he was unpleasant to deal with. I will return here if necessary but it will be a last resort so to speak. I sincerely hope this gentleman finds some happiness and peace.

DANIEL HIt took over two hours to get my rental truck that I had reserved the day before. The staff was really nice. They said their system was down for the third Saturday in a row. For a multi-million dollar company to have such a weak system to dispatch their fleet is extremely disappointing. I paid a lot of money to reserve and rent a truck from U-Haul. I had to completely change my moving plans for the day. I didn't finish moving in my stuff to my new apartment until after dark around 9:15. I missed important events on my Saturday because of this delay. Not cool.
