Because the pickup location in Charleston did not have the drop off location in their directory I was told to call a central U-Haul number to inform as to the location I was dropping off, which I did. When I dropped off the truck, I was told in the future I should call the drop off location directly and inferred that the only they were allowing my drop off was that I had a “10-ft truck”. When I said I did what I was told to do and it was ok’ed on the central U-Haul call, I was informed “we are an independent dealer”. I would recommend this “dealer” only if it was the most convenient for the user.
CHARLES TI Have been renting UHaul trailers and trucks since 1970. Often it would take almost half a day to signup, setup, and rent a trailer. Later we began to rent trucks over the years. About 7-8 years ago, we had a terrible experience with the UHaul center in Asheville. They crossed up my fees and I had to negotiate with my bank to stop payment and have my case resolved and my money returned. Last year my daughter and I rented trucks from a vendor on Monticello Road, Weavereville, NC. Last spring we rented in Duluth, GA and dropped off at Allen's Gulf. The lady there was super nice and very informative. At the beginning of February, I returned to Allen's to reserve a truck. Allen's has given me the VERY BEST UHaul experience in my lifetime. Everything was explained well and good hints on selections were easily explained to me. in the present case, this was also the best truck I have ever rented. Thank you.

CRYSTAL WAs soon as I made reservations the owner called to go over the transaction and inform me on added details before my pick up. At the time of pickup they were reliable and friendly. I returned the truck and again.. pleasant experience with the check in.

JOSEPH MMake sure hours are accurate. I dropped off at 5:30, believing they were open until 6:00. Otherwise, all was fine. I'm only saying the personnel were not helpful because i did not see any.

KEVIN GThe trailer had gravel inside the bed from a previous customer. I had to remove the gravel from the swing down ramp to prevent rocks from being thrown at cars behind me. But, the worst part is the trailer was DANGEROUS. It cause my SUV to shake at various speeds. The tires appeared to be out of alignment and tire pressure was inconsistent.

AUGUST AThe guys at Allen’s u-Haul on Weaverville Road in Asheville are great. I have used them several times. They are always courteous and helpful and this most recent Rental experience only convinces me that they will always be the ones I call on when I need a rental truck.
