The 'uhaul' place was actually a barbershop in an unsafe part of Chicago. I had to call someone on the phone using the barber's personal cellphone. The person on the other line asked for my credit card information, and I said "Uhaul already has it online".. It was just a very sketchy experience

The Allure location was good - everything was easy to pickup, but it was much trickier at night. The club nearby was pretty active and blocked off the lot and a lot of the parking space out front so it took a bit to figure out whether a spot nearby was acceptable. Ultimately, although the location was good, my experience with the app was ABSOLUTELY MISERBLE. I got sent to Allure from another location because apparently that location did not setup the vehicle for my after-hours 24/7 booking. The app was NOT helpful at all - but I got sent over, I spent 1/2hr on hold because the help number on the app provided was a general number. The app was already taking a drain on my phone and had force restarted but I did manage to get on a chat and finally received a separate Scheduling number where I did get through to someone. And thankfully she helped me get to Allure. Dropoff was terrible because my truck had a maintenance error (oil change light) - and on that truck, this error would block out the odometer, so the app camera was a mess and would not allow me to finish check out. I finally just locked the van, dropped the key in the dropbox, and using code provided by my interaction with Scheduling explained everything and it looks like it worked out. But who knows what happened wtih the app? The Uhaul app has so much promise and it is a genius idea to expand to off-hour bookings in a city like Chicago, but I had a terrible experience because the app still needs so much work so that people don't get stranded in the middle of the night. Look to GetAround and Turo apps for inspiration, they have figured out the car check in/check out process.

I reserved over a month ago and thought I'd be picking up in oak lawn. Instead, I was given a location that took over an hour to get to. The person I spoke to initially offered some extra miles which didn't even cover the extra distance. There were no other discounts per the rep that could be given for the inconvenience. I did call back and the person said there was nothing closer and added 50 miles but no other discount

Take fewer than two day to check the truck in. Actually respond to my asking for instruction/direction/ to have someone look at the truck. I drove by the day after dropping off the truck and the rear door was open.

The truck ran and performed well. The truck was uncomfortable to drive and had no cruise control It was cleaned out but not clean. The staff I dealt with at both locations were very nice and helpful. Communication ahead of the rental was weak. Example, my pickups location was changed and had I not seen it on the email I received I would not have gone to the correct location as I was never informed.

I was outside the location for more than 30mins without access to my rental truck. The U-HAUL phone number posted did not work and the office was CLOSED. I spent almost an hour waiting for someone to arrive so I could access my rental truck. I DO NOT recommend this location.

- The site where i made a appointment to rent my vehicle was not opened and an individual who shared the hair salon next door informed me that I would need to call the number she provided in order to contact someone to get my vehicle. - The van that was rented was not clean (dirty flood, drink holders, etc.) only had 1/8 a tank of gas, and had the check engine light on at the time of pickup. - The moving blankets and moving equipment I ordered were not provided.

The person I worked with was very helpful and clear in communication. It was simple to pick up and drop off the truck. He managed all the paperwork and emailed me right away with receipts. I ordered a dolly but it wasn't at the location I picked up and had to drive a few blocks to get it and he didn't charge me for the dolly. Very clear with the directions. I would recommend this place for anyone moving on the West side, south loop or west loop area!

The U Haul was not parked at designated position. It was left across the road (Roosevelt) by the last person. So during pick up using my phone, I had to cross the busy road to grab the key from the locker. So, leaving the car on right position is highly recommended. Apart from that, everything was very smooth and fast.

The staff at this location hooked the trailer up before realizing that an adapter was needed for lights to work properly. Having already hooked up the trailer they then told me to go to autozone from there, dangerous, and only after buying all necessary equipment did I find out the trailer had no left-side lights. I was pulled over twice on my long drive from Chicago to Portland, no to mention the complete lack of safety this posed for primarily night driving.

Anthony is the manager who I have worked with 3 times in renting a truck. He always greets me kindly, goes over my use and makes sure I have pick up on time. Great location, ease of pick up I will always recommend this place as they have taken very well care of me and my services when needed for my Humble Hearts Organization.

The issue I had was the misleading rental setup on the uhaul website. The site made it seem that I would be able to pick up the van at a location that was walking distance from my apartment. During my walk to the location, I received a call from a gentleman letting me know the ACTUAL location of the van was 2 miles in the other direction. I had to cal a Lyft to get there. This caused an additional expense and I arrived late to pick up my furniture. Other than that, the renter helped me quickly get the van keys and on the road.

This process couldn't be worse. The uhaul organization is horrendous. I was sent to 5 different locations the morning of my rental to find a truck to use. I was late for the movers I had scheduled at my apartment. My truck was reserved in advance yet I still had to go from location to location and none of them had the truck. Absolutely awful experience. I will not be using again. And will not recommend. I've already shared my ridiculous experience and the lack of customer service with others.

The staff was very nice and they accommodated my specific needs without an issue. They were very helpful. I would highly recommend this location. Their pick up site is on Madison but the website says Roosevelt. That's the only thing that was time consuming and could have been prevented with proper updated information online. Overall, nice experience. Thank you!

Vehicle was super dirty. Representative didn't even check the condition of vehicle. I made a reservation with dolly. Dolly was not ready and representative said I have to pick up the Dolly at different location spending extra miles; ridiculous. Service is so poor. It was my last U-haul use in my life. U-haul service in this location will significantly&negatively affect the value and reputation of U-haul. Representative should be well-trained and more responsible.

This was my first time using U-haul and I doubt I will recommend it to anyone of use this service again. My original order was for a different location, where the employee didn't know how to handle self pick up. As a result, I wasn't able to get a truck and went to a different location that was bad as well but at least they gave me this smelly truck without a ramp. I lost time and the most frustrating thing is that no one could help me and no one knew what they can do.

Not enough supply. Did not have the correct size truck I ordered, or the pads I ordered. Employees weren't attentive or empathetic when I was annoyed by my incorrect order. I got literally nothing that I asked for- and was instead given a truck that was way too big. I travelled 2000 miles, so the large truck was a major inconvenience.

The whole location set up is not acceptable I walked into a barbershop and just got stared at. Then on guy finally asked me was i there to get a uhal and that he had to call the rep on the phone. I talked with the rep and had to give him my info all over again in the phone. I would like to be able to see who i am giving my info to. The guys in the babrershop made it uncomfortable its wa just weird. When i went to drop the key off the location tracker on the UPS app was not working so it would not take into account that I was in front of the shop and trying to drop the truck off. I called customer service and had to wait for someone to pick up the phone at least 35 minutes and when someone finally did come to the phone she is not able to help me. Overall bad experience

I felt very unsafe at the location. My pickup location was also changed last minute via a text. The workers were not the most professional people I have worked with. Upon my arrival the truck wasn't ready and they cleaned out the car while I was waiting there causing me to be late to my appointment. Furthermore, I purchased additional insurance and the contact I was emailed stated that I didn't not have any extra coverage. Upon dropping off the truck I was told I would have a reciept emailed to me in 5 minutes and it took 40 minutes for them to complete the check of the truck and email me the receipt. I was dissatisfied with the customer service and contract quality and would not recommend uhaul to anyone.

I don't appreciate the fact that I was over charged for the rental of this vehicle. When I checked my credit card statement, I saw that I was overcharged. So then I went back to look at the uhaul statement and saw that the records stated that not only was I charged for extra miles but for extra gas as well. I am a single parent without an additional dollar to spare. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of!

The truck I received was not clean and there was a stench of cigarettes and sweat inside. Unfortunately as I was on a schedule I had to use it and clean it up myself.
