I recommend implementing a clear notification during the booking process to inform customers when on-site staff may not be available for check-in, even during normal business hours. If in-person check-in is not an option at a particular location, it would be helpful to omit that option entirely to avoid confusion. Had I been aware in advance that no staff would be present and that an in-person check-in could involve a wait time of approximately 45 minutes, I would have selected a different location. Additionally, the online check-in process took significantly longer than a typical in-person interaction. We were operating under a strict deadline and were nearly late due to the lack of clear communication. If it had been clearly stated during booking that the location operates as online check-in only, we would have planned accordingly. I have rented from U-Haul many times in the past and have not encountered this issue before. Clearer communication would greatly improve the customer experience.
Pedro SUnmanned location, keys were never put in lockbox, worker never didn't even know there was a reservation for pickup. Spent 40 minuets on customer service calls trying to find help.

JAMES GI had nothing but issues with renting the unit. We were transferred trucks over 8 times because every location we went to trucks were marked ready but had no keys or locks on units. We had to call support over 10 times with different issues of locks not opening or trucks not being there that should have been.
