I reserved a hand truck with the rental, but they didn't have one when I picked up the truck. The operator loaned me his personal one so I could load, but that didn't help me when I got to my destination.

RUSSELL CThe guy handling the rental was great, but the facility is a rural gas station with just a few vehicles, and no extras like tie down rope or tape. I had to drive into town to get a padlock which happily fit; I was not instructed or confident what kind of padlock was needed.
Martha WLocation was a gas station and I had to stop/wait, during my transaction, for the business to serve other customers. The truck had water inside the cargo area and was due to a leak in the roof of the cargo area, which resulted in my items getting wet.

DONALD GThe people at the pickup location were great. They were very helpful in helping me navigate through the complete mess that Uhaul made in picking up the equipment. Prior to my picking up the equipment I had entered all of my information online and followed that up with a phone call to Uhaul customer service to make sure all was in order. I expected to be able to pick up the equipment right away. Jameson, the person helping me with the rental, had to make 3 separate phone calls and spend an hour and a half trying to get to the point of being allowed to release the equipment to me. He ultimately did an excellent job in helping to work it all out. He was responsive, patient, and apologized to me for the long wait. I think he went above and beyond in his customer service and I told him so. I would definitely rent from them again, except I don't think I will ever rent from Uhaul in the future. After I worked so hard to get everything lined up for the rental, the ridiculous amount of time we had to spend to finalize the rental was not worth it to me. I had to rent the equipment in order to tow my car, which had broken down on the way home. The stress of having to deal with the rental obstacles created by Uhaul made the situation much worse.
MICHAEL MIt’s a parking lot at a gas station so there’s not really an actual UHaul facility to review. It was very convenient.
BOBBY FThe guy at the pick up location in Arcata that you all switched me to instead of eureka where my storage is located, didn’t want to do his job. It took over 40 minutes to get my truck. When I finally got the truck in Arcata, and went to my storage unit in Eureka, WHERE THERE WERE PLENTY IF 15’ TRUCKS AVAILABLE, the only guy working still had the storage area blocked in with other trucks. It was after 9 and access is 7am. He took 15 minutes to finally move just one of the trucks. I decided to move my storage out of the makeshift truck bed in eureka (that leaks) because you won’t stop jacking up the price!!! Moved it to different company,, and larger storage unit (in a BUILDING, not used uhaul truck beds) for more than half the price!!! I have spent thousands with uhaul over the last few years, but will never deal with you again. Waste of money and time!

The equipment I ordered (dollies, furniture pads) were not in the truck when I picked it up.The gas station attendants know nothing about U-Haul other than it is used as a place to pick up and returns trucks, so no customer service and everything, all offices, are closed if you are picking up your truck late in the day, as we were.
Debra SMy only complaint about picking up my 10' van is that there was a low tire on my van. The attendant did air it up, but it was low again the next day. U-Haul sent another wheel to my home, but the next morning it was completely FLAT! So they had to come out and collect the wheel and take it to a tire shop to have it fixed. I was not so happy, however, with the van itself. The van was MOST uncomfortable, inconvenient, and even dangerous to drive due to its utter lack of interior adjustability, good visibility, and commonplace safety features such as power windows, door locks, and external mirror adjustments. The backup camera is totally inadequate, and I had to wonder why not provide a full-view backup camera instead of the tiny little windowed view that is all but useless, or even a couple of mirrors at the rear to completely replace a typical rear-view mirror? And a decent navigation system would be a huge help as well as a safety feature. Many items we think of as convenience or comfort items actually make driving hugely safer. I'd really like to see your van fleet developed along those lines.

Jennifer DI filled out everything online ahead of time and it took 45 mins once at the location to get the uhaul. The attendant didn’t know how to use the system and the truck was dirty inside when I picked it up.

Michelle ALocation is in a busy liquor store with limited counter space. Need additional desk space for rental customers. Still worked on my paperwork quickly but it was crowded.

Ragen TI was mischarged on my account for an extra day and have yet to receive a call from either the company or the pick up location. It was an easy process overall, but the overcharging has made me reconsider choosing the right location next time.
Alexandra CAwkward location on busy corner. Only one overwhelmed employee runs the uhaul gas station and answers phone in tiny claustrophobic store. The vehicles are always dirty and run down. The windows are filthy. I’ve gotten in the habit of bringing my own windex and paper towels every time I rent from this location. I feel really bad for the overwhelmed Employees.

I had to address him twice to get his attention and once I did, he still wasn't listening to me. Another customer was returning a truck and I had to tell the attendant 3 times that I was not with said customer, at which point he finally began the process of checking the truck out to me, but seemed to not even know if the truck was on the property.

I felt like she was trying to scam me, when i denied to give her the information she said that she was gonna report me to corporate. She was extremely rude and was not trying to hear me out.
Joe MPlease notify your customers about the $290 security deposit it completely ruined my experience with U-haul I had to borrow money from a family member due to not knowing the unexpected cost and it took me several hours to get ahold of my family member which delayed my moving process. Moving expenses are expensive enough maybe lowering the costs for local moves for the deposit Would’ve improved my experience. The staff members were great, not sure why online the estimated cost for my mileage should’ve been $60 total max and I was charged $90 in total for using U-haul which was unexpected. Especially since the gas tank was right under the middle line and I only drove to a nearby town to move that is located 10-15 minutes away. I hope U-haul decides to disclose ALL their fees and lowering the security deposit if it’s local moving. There was no need for me to stress to find an extra $290 that I did not have.

LUIS MI fulfilled my end of the contract and because of that the U-Haul rental place fulfilled their end. No extra charges and everything worked out great!
amanda bTruck engine light was on. Attendant said don’t worry about it, but I was worried. I did not want the truck breaking down in the middle of a move. Service and attendants were great, but the concern over the maintenance and condition of the truck was not.

Donald OI would like to mention that the driver side mirror was broken, hanging on attached with zip ties. They did not mention this to me. I noticed it only after I had left with the vehicle and was on the highway. Because I needed the vehicle I did not go back and complain or exchange it. When I returned the vehicle they said it was my duty to check the vehicle before I rented it. Because the zip ties were black I did not notice this ahead of time. You would have had to closely look before being on the road to notice. The zip ties kept coming loose during transit and made the mirror unusable which was both dangerous and frustrating. I had rented the vehicle with 750 miles so they knew I would be driving long distances and thus likely need the use of my driver side mirror. When I asked for a discount due to this damage I was told I would need to talk to the owner. I think it was quite insensitive of the situation and would hope that they will fix this before future rentals. The vehicle was clean and did help me accomplish my task, however a broken side mirror is actually a big deal in city traffic with a larger than typical vehicle for a driver such as myself.

Alisha FYou can make the price cheaper and offer daily rates rather than mileage charges. Over $120 for 5-6 hours rental for a truck is way too much in my opinion. The mileage fees are too high.
Miriam PHave a truck available would be good. Having a truck available within 50 miles of where I live would be even better. Letting me know there is no truck within 50 miles before I got to pick it up would be really good, too. Reimbursing me 150 dollars as promised would be priceless (or at least $150.00). Also, having the number for Penske or Ryder handy for customers in my situation would be awesome.

new dWhen the pick up location is a gas station, one assumes there will be more gas in the truck than just over 1/4 of a tank. Also this particular gas station is especially unwieldy for getting the 26’ truck up to the pump, especially when the gas gage indicates the tank is on one side, and then you find out it’s on the other. The gas station attendant is too busy serving station customers to attend to the Uhaul customers. It took me 45 minutes to get the paperwork, gas up and drive away.
