I could not return the packing paper box I purchased in Santa Monica where I was told it was returnable upon my dropping off the truck. And again U-Haul switched my drop off location to much further from my residence in Newport Beach.
Robert WNo one at location even though I wanted a smoother pickup. Spent 1.5 hours on the phone with costumer service trying to get the app to work and get the code for the lock box. It would have been nice to get a notice in the email that switched my location pick up that I was going to have to do mobile pickup so I could have prepared better for it. On the bright side, everyone I talked to on the customer service end was very pleasant and helpful so you get points for that at least. The truck was great and I had no issues, but it did ruin my experience having to wait over and hour just to pick it up. There should just be more communication towards costumers when location gets changed.

TIANA MArrived at 1:40pm, OPEN sign on door, hours say 10 - 6, lights off, door locked. Knocked several times, no response. Called, no answer. Waited, worried, used my keys to rap loudly on metal door frame. Associate came out from back and yelled at me for knocking so loudly, said my appt was at 2, closed and locked the door. At 2 unlocked the door but did not open the door or acknowledge me, simply returned to her desk. One of the most unexpectedly rude interactions I have ever experienced.

TANGNI CHelp is professional and friendly. Just wasn't clean and had no gas to start. Other than that it is good.
RANDALL BTruck was dirty, AC didn't work and maintenance light was on. Employee did inform me about the maintenance light beforehand. Only reason I used this location was for the convenience.

Shady FThis location does not have its act together. It seemed that the female who appeared to be the manager of this location was inconvenienced by my business. Issues began to surface when my brother alerted me to the fact that the left brake light was not lighting. The female then indicated to me that she had to get somewhere else and was pressed for time, suggesting to me that she did not have the time to do what she is supposed to do, take care of business. When I was unable to contact her at this location the following day to get the updated rental agreement (to reflect the change of trucks due to the brake light issue), she told me via phone that she would send an updated agreement via text and email but I received neither until Tuesday. I do have the receipt that indicates the return of the replacement truck but I still have no receipt for initially taking out the replacement truck.

John LThe truck advertised showed a rate of $1.09 per mile when advertised. The rate changed later to $1.39. And yes, I was made aware of this at the time I picked up truck but at that it was too late if you need a truck. This practice is misleading. There was no place saying this rate was variable. Luckily in my case I only drove 50 or 60 miles.
Richard ITheir focus is clearly not customer service nor UHaul business they are a storage facility that renting equipment seems like a chore for them. They don't accept cash, and can't accept electronic payments via mobile devices. They don't care and it shows I will pickup and dropoff equipment somewhere else in the future.

McKenna SYou will charge me when the gas guage says less on return than when I picked it up, and that's fair. But if I return it with more gas than when picked up (1/2< start vs 7/8 finish) you will not credit me for the 5+ extra gallons you are keeping. Fairness should work both ways. I'm disappointed that UHaul doesn't subscribe to that.

Jorge JThe location was great! Catherine (I think that was her name) was beyond helpful when the not-very-helpful self check-in app was not working for me. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to rent the truck but thanks to Catherine I was on my way. Please fix the app so it’s not so buggy, slow, and difficult to use.
Sergio HI asked how much prices were for certain items and the lady in Costa Mesa store actually said “ I don’t know” I will never use this location again. Not until they hire competent people.

tim mMy rental was supposed to be at “The Box Store” (Lake Forest) near where I live, I showed up on time to pick up my van and was basically told we don’t have a rental for you and it’s your fault for ordering it online “you should have just called us, the online thing never works right” according to the owner. He was dismissive, rude and absolutely unhelpful. My confirmation email was clear that my rental was supposed to be at the box store and he just dismissed me. I had to drive 25 minutes out of the way to pickup my truck, the girl at the Baker self storage was helpful and got me into a truck. My review is strictly related to the guy at the box store. The place looks like someone’s unkempt living room an off leash dog walking around and “Uhaul Top 100” awards on the wall, unbelievable. This experience has definitely convinced me that I will not be using Uhaul for future hauling.

WILLIAM BI was meant to pick up my u haul at another Costa Mesa location but since there weren’t any there we had to go to this one. I booked a one way u haul to drop it off at Torrance and when we got to the location at Torrance they wouldn’t accept it because they didn’t change the contract properly. So I had to spend 15 mins at the location calling u haul customer service since the guy at this location couldn’t modify the contract any more and didn’t call for us .

David RWhen we went to pick up the truck we called ahead to make sure it was ready. The man we spoke to said yes it's ready come on over. We got there a few minutes later and the same man told us he couldn't wait on us until he finished his lunch. So we stood there for 15 minutes until he was done. All he had to do was tell us that on the phone and we would have waited. The reason we called first was to avoid this as our previous reservation had been canceled the day before at a different location.

JESSE DI had read UHaul's instructions on becoming familiar with the vehicle's equipment. It wasn't until I was about to return the truck that I realized I didn't know anything about how to fill the gas tank. Would be helpful to instruct customer to become familiar with which side of vehicle should face gas pump and whether anything other than unscrewing tank cap will be required. Thank you!

Kathryn NI had reserved by Uhaul for the early morning pick up... was at the business at my scheduled time but could not pick up the truck because it had not been checked in from the previous customer the day before. We waited an hour and a half for the store to open before being able to talk to anyone about this issue..we called the number posted to call prior to the store opening but no answer. Once we met with the lady working, she was very nice and accommodating, however I had scheduled the early morning pick up for a reason which did not end up working out as scheduled since we had to wait for the store to open up anyways before we could take the truck.

FEARGUS MI really am not the person to write a bad review however when service is less than promised or delivered it is my duty to warn others when renting at Baker Fairview Self Storage LLC. We rented an 8' truck online. On the site I was able to make a reservation for a 24/7 mobile rental. The truck was supposed to be available after hours at 7pm. Well I arrived that tuesday my truck was not there for pick up. That tuesday night, I called and spoke with the assistant manager she informed me that there was a mistake and that trucks can only be rented in person during business hours and that someone was supposed to call earlier that day to inform me . I never recieved that phone call. No where on the website when making my reservation did it say vehicle must be rented during business hours. I was able to rent all the way through with an online check-in. The Assistant manager did her best in finding a solution however it was after hours and the next available location had already closed. This was a huge inconvenience knowing that we were short on time on moving. So I updated my reservation for the next day. We now were one day behind. However, I wanted to give Baker Self LLC a chance to fix a wrong. Hoping this would be resolved during or at the of our rental. No response. They just believe in thier bottom line. I paid full price for 2 days of rental. My wife and I still needed to move a few more items we decided to use a different Uhaul location. Huntington Beach Uhaul has been a great experience and service thank you. Once again all really wanted was some form of acknowledgement from Baker Fairview management to fix a wrong. Never happened.
