The U-Haul itself was decently clean and maintained. Though, when we had arrived to pick up the U-Haul, the gas tank was empty, quite literally empty, we had to put gas into it to move and then when dropping it off- we put enough gas into it when dropping it off and I was told it was too low and I would be charged $70 for gas. Instead I decided to take the truck and put another $20 in and I was still charged about $30 for gas fees. Not only was that a huge problem but the customer service at this location was TERRIBLE to say the least!! The lady at the cashier would push us aside to serve other customers causing us to wait 30 mins to just pick up the U-Haul. Then I had to pay a $200 fee when it should have only been $140 total from my estimate. When dropping off the U-Haul, the cashiers (both a male and female) got upset with us because we were trying to understand why our $140 U-Haul ended up costing up upwards to $250. Instead of helping us they decided to taunt us and threaten us that we would not be able to ever use u-haul again because they were going to blacklist us. This experience was genuinely concerning and so unprofessional. I don’t think I will ever use U-Haul again nor would I recommend this company to friends after this experience. And to make everything better. We are still out almost $100! So making our move in experience even worse.

The truck I rented in advance was not there I waited half hour for it to arrive. It was dirty inside and out. Smelled like spoiled milk inside. Steering wheel shock when applying the brakes. No one from the location I picked it up at looked at the truck before I took it. Very poor business.

After loading the vehicle I could not close the door. It was broken, I had to wait three hours got done one to come and fix it. Manni was great, Now it is past my return time. I still had to drive over an hour so instead I took my tired and cold family to a hotel. The next day I got a call to have the vehicle back by 12 15 pm which would have been impossible. And I woukd be charged for the second dsy. Then a lady was the rudest person on the other end very abrupt woukd not let me get a word in. Not a great experience.

HAUL review: December 21, 2024 The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: The Good: • This location in Caledonia, Ontario, is a variety / gas station / UHAUL site. • The store clerk was very helpful. • While helping me , he still processed other customers coming into store. • He remained calm cool & collected throughout and was obviously very knowledgeable with the various processes both for the store and the UHAUL portion. • I was able to complete my mission using the van. The Bad: • The whole registration experience was most unpleasant for me. • I completed the registration process on-line, on my computer at home. • Was advised I would need a cell phone upon arrival at the store. • No mention as to why. • It turns out you need to have data on your cell phone to enable sending a picture of a driver’s licence and complete the rental agreement. • I do not have “data” on my phone (like a lot of other people) and this created quite a delay and stressful situation. • I was able to turn on “data” briefly to complete the registration process and will likely have additional costs from my cell provider. • My technical knowledge on the cell phone is somewhat limited and the clerk was very helpful in seeking a resolution. • It would seem to me there should be an alternate method, especially as not everyone has a cell phone. • Your confirmation documents are too small to read on a cell phone The Ugly: • The van could have been cleaner inside. • The windshield had quite a film on the inside. • I can appreciate that at this time of year, cleaning can be a challenge. • The front end vibrated vigorously when applying the brakes. Summary: • I am not sure if I would rent at UHAUL again….

We had to take a picture and send it to U-Haul and then when we got back, we took another picture and brought it into the store and they said that we owe them $30 for gas when we went 5 km of 5 km is not $30 worth of gas the needle did not move but because we did not have the original picture it was sent to U-Haul on an app that they sent me. We could not see the picture of the gas gauge did not move. The truck clearly has a problem and then you guys deduct $9.83 from my account. This is absolute bullshit.

Do not rent out the same truck to two different people at the same time. Be quicker when adjusting the bill from the 'estimated' charges to the actual charges. (It has been 2 days the 'estimated' charges are sitting against my account.) Have less of the rental done by e-mail and much more done in person. I have 6 e-mails for 1 truck.

Online we had asked for 1 dozen moving blankets. There were none available, however we were still charged for them. I asked the rep why couldn’t he take them off the bill. He told me I would need to get in touch with U-Haul and they would credit me back. It’s just a poor set up, being offered a product, paying for it even when it was never available at the location, then have to ask back for a credit. VERY poorly done !

Counter person was not helpful. Had little knowledge of how to check in or address any issue with the vehicle. Specifically the gas guard was actually lower than what was on paper. Was a lengthy drop off process with many photos and time consuming.

I will never rent anything from this company ever again. My original cost was 57 dollars and I was told I could drop it off at any location. When I went to drop it off the guy was very rude and ignorant. My bill went from 57 to 95 I only had the Dame van for 3 hours so don't know why this company screwed me. I will never be back

One rear tire at 30 psi, other at 80, front tires both over inflated by 20 psi. Fuel gauge marking on form was wrong (over) by 1/4 tank necessitating a change on pick up, then despite disputing spurious charges added on the end for miles not recorded on the odometer upon drop off and contacting customer service three times the charges remain in place and no one has responded to my complaints nor accept my proof (photographs, gps, and eyewitness evidence for an 8 hour rental). Want to improve for the next customer? Take away this location's franchise and hire some people for customer service who actually respond to customers.

Vans are never cleaned properly or at all. I rent from here due to location only. vans are parked in dirty puddles at rear of building and in overgrown weeds. never have larger vans available at this location.

The woman was rude. Tried telling me I needed to be back by 9 yet my contract said 11. This was after my original pick up at another location was opened and no key in the drop box. Took over three hours before I actually got a truck. Also had to go to a different city to get the uhaul

Pickup was okay. However it was a 30 min drive from my house. Having vehicles available at the chosen location after boling three weeks in advance woukd have been helpful. We also had to travel to a different location to pick up blanket rental.

Reserved 1 month in advance (one way trip) Informed day before had to pick up in different location than requested-40 km away. Pick up location struggled with U Haul app, did not have proper equipment details. We ended up back at original requested location to pick up equipment. Extremely inconvenient.

I reserved 12 blankets in advance and they only had 6. The lot behind the gas station where they park the trucks has multiple very large potholes. It feels like you are off-roading just trying to get out of the lot. They also make you carry the blankets you rented back into the store (while trying not to step in the potholes filled with muddy water because it was raining).

Terrible service at this location. After filling with gas to where it was when I received it ( I took pictures) I was advised of a “fuel surcharge”. When I asked for assistance in determining how much more I needed to put in I was rudely spoken over even though the truck says there is a guide available to help determine gas levels. Aside from this the two gentleman “helping me” were rude and unwilling to listen, look at the pictures I had of the gas guage and almost wouldn’t allow me to put more in it to appease their perspective. I just wanted to leave at this point. I was told to go to hell several times by the guy who checked the truck on return and at one point thought he was going to get physical with me after speaking up for myself. Worst customer experienced I’ve ever had. Will never return here even for gas.

The interior of the vehicle could be cleaner, was very dusty. The person at the counter didn't seem to know what to do when I said I was there to pick up a rental and had trouble getting in touch with someone who did know. Took way to long to get through the pick up process.

The Representative at the site was extremely helpful. He helped to overcome some of the challenges with the Uhaul Application that was not processing the return of the Van. My rating would have been lower without his help.

I spend thousands of dollars per year with Uhaul. As the customer, I completed my contract. As the vendor, Uhaul overcharged me then double charged me. I now need to waste more time to fix. Watch out for these scammers...this is a terrible location and Uhaul should be ashamed to be associated.

Gentleman working there was rude and difficult to get along with. Also overcharged me by around $150. The customer service rep on the phone was very helpful and a kind guy. Fixed the overcharge no problem.

Maintain the truck to allow the average driver to feel safe when driving. Also trucks should be prepared for pickup. Not hidden in the back of the lot and having to climb through obstacles especially when the person clearly has mobility issues. I was told to climb through the passenger door to make it more accessible. I’ve used uhaul for every move. I’ve had issues with my uhaul in the past with it not starting during a winter move and now this solidified my decision to try other truck rentals for my next move. After renting a storage for 6 months with uhaul and spending almost $250 for a truck for one day, I expect more from uhaul. I will not be returning as a customer.

The pick up location on Queen Street East assigned 115 Argyle St S on the documentation for drop off however , when we got to the site the location did not have me listed to return the vehicle . Upon speaking with customer care it was told that the assigned drop off location is 4663 Highway 6 S Petro CAN. Again had to ask customer service to change the drop off to 115 Argyle St S as we were there. It is really disappointing that your service centres are not aligned on the information being passed on to the customer. It has been a very daunting experience from day 1 with U-Haul .

I had an issue with the overall customer service at U-Haul. I originally rented the truck for 12 hrs(9am-9pm sept 29). After a delay getting into my unit to move I had to contact U-Haul customer service, to ask if extending the rental until the next day at 9pm (sept 30), they confirmed it wouldn’t be an issue and put it through, so after a long day we packed it in and started the next day early. We loaded the truck and we’re about 3/4 full when my phone rang and it was U-Haul calling to tell me the truck was late. When I informed him that I called and extended the rental until 9pm, he then said “well I don’t see anything and there’s a family waiting for it, plus you’ve had the truck long enough. So I need to bring it back now. I informed him I had to continue and if customer service had told me it was a problem I would’ve had the truck back already. He then repeated what he said like a bad recording but in a rude tone. His only solution was getting me a truck the next day. Which wasn’t a possibility in my end. He was extremely rude and I finally was fed up with his tone and hung up. I followed that up by finishing packing the truck and taking it to the new place, emptying it in the driveway and just returning the truck. There was no one at the drop off and the counter guy said he wasn’t expecting anyone today, but I didn’t want the hassle from U-Haul anymore. In the future I will be sure to go elsewhere for my needs.

the truck was very dirty we had to borrow a broom from the guy in the gas station to sweep out the back of truck the dash board was very dirty. we had a pick up time schedule for 10am when we got there the place was not open , we went back at about 10:30 am . the guy said don't worry just bring back the truck 6:30pm instead of 6 and you wont be charged and extra. However the receipt was emailed to us and the print was so small we could not read it..but i saw on the credit card a charge for almost $70 for what i don't know , because we literally drove 3 times from house to the next and each trip was a 2 mins drive , i will be calling u haul

I am so glad I get to rate the worst customer service experience in my life. Customer service is so terrible, wait for 30 minutes then get disconnected, call and get transferred and wait for another 30 minutes and get disconnected, speaking to a representative and then get cancelled. My god you guys have the shittiest and I'm not taking that word back because its so true. I wish to have all my information removed from U-Haul immediately, my phone number, my drivers license everything.

U haul customer service sucked and the rep at location sucked. Both were uncooperative and gave very bad advice. At the end of the day I was overcharged because I choose the wrong km package. The wrong needs to align and balance, potential for accidents is high. Very poor customer service from both agents.

UHAUL has to improve the way they work!!!! Vehicle reservation system without a vehicle availability and pick up location guarantees?!.. Also their payment system is very confusing.. Many of their rental locations should be closed for really bad customer service....BAD..BAD

Gas station is very convenient in our little town. Area to pick up van is in back, pot holes, mucky...not ideal. Your entire rental process though is great...all electronic. Easy.

7/8 tank of gas at pick up - thought it should be full. Three times I spoke with the agent about this. At pick up, upon return and again before I topped off the gas. Through broken English he tried to assure me it will all work out if I take a picture. I paid $52 for gas at the end for a 50 km total trip. There was no reconciliation for the gas I overpaid. Only at the end of it all did I see the sticker in the truck saying fill only to the point that matches the gauge at pick up. Not sure how I could fill while watching the gauge. There was no reconciliation for my overpayment. The agent just kept repeating “no problem”. So for under 2 hours use and 50 km my van rental was far too expensive.

The van was covered in snow that I needed to clean off before I could leave. It was also stuck and needed to be shoveled. The outside of van was very dirty. It took me an extra 25 minutes to leave due to the delays. Brutally disappointing!

Person working the counter barely speaks English. Could not give me the paperwork of the bill when picking up vehicle, told me to take the van and we'd "figure it out tomorrow" and I didn't even sign anything. Upon returning van, I see I was charged $15 for the insurance that I never requested or was asked if I even wanted the coverage. Counter person then tells me he can't remove it and that I have to call customer service. If I was given paperwork at pick up this could have been avoided. I used to use U-Haul quite frequently but this was my last time using your service

I used the van for less than 4 hours and 150 kilometers and it cost me $143.00 that's ridiculous for a dirty van and the person took almost 30 minutes to process it and couldn't tell me what the price was just said its not our business they just rent out of here. I will go to discount in the future I feel you are now way overpriced with very poor service.

What a ripe off the guy at counter useless. Back of truck had garbage in it. Ordered blankets and had to come back for them as they were not in truck when I opened it. Was qouted 89 cent per klm charged 146 per mile. Truck ran on 3plus RPM entire trip. Engine light came on. Called uhaul to dispute cost was told prices subject to change yet when I reorder on web site shows 89 cents funny how when you’re ordering the price is alway 89 cent but soon as u confirm price goes to 1.46 and I should be calling my lawyer as I didnt sign any contract yet there was a signature above my name on the emailed contract that was sent to me AFTER I picked up the truck. When I asked who signed the contract at the drop off location the useless same guy admitted he signed it. I will never use this locstion ever for anything gas or rental or store. And I will defenitly be telling EVERYONE in town.

Online ordering took too long. Had to repeat it several times. Prefer booking with a human being. Walked to the pick up location several times and nothing was able to be done in person to correct anything. Vehicle was not available (late) for the time reserved. Had to change all other plans to accommodate U-Haul! Very disappointed. Would hesitate to use again. Time to put people at the forefront.
