Jack and Carl at the Beds by Beds location in Sioux Falls, SD were great to work with when I picked up a UHaul on a Sunday afternoon. We told them we would only need the UHaul for 4 hours but our return time was for the next day at 10am. I said we'd return today and they said we have a drop off box for your convenience. They did not share that there would be a $20 convenience fee if we brought it back after hours. My receipt included a return fee $20 and so I spoke to Jack or Carl today to ask why they didn't verbally tell me about the fee. He said it is in the contract. I shared out of common courtesy and excellent customer service, it would have been the right thing to do. They also said they usually share that information verbally but that it is likely they didn't since it is in the contract. I know for certain he did not because I would have waited till the next day to return it to save the extra money. I asked if if he would be willing to refund the 20 but he said no. In fact, I asked him if he has the ability to issue a refund and he said he did but that he isn't going to. I told him I feel he was being sneaky by not telling us and he said he wasn't because it is in the contract but to feel free to share a poor review. Obviously, I should have read the contract word for word. My bad. I will not be using this UHaul dealer again. Plus, I was going to go back to this business to buy a bed and headboard but not now.Monique J.
Had all theses extra steps when arrived on Sunday for pick up. I have rented several other times. Why necessarily to have to call and confirm with someone? Only option as I don't carry passport. Take pics of DL. This can all be done before arrival. I should be able to pull up enter code and drive away.Janet R.

I was 15 minutes late because maps from the app on my phone took me to the wrong location. The attendant said was rude about it and was telling me he was going to charge me for an extra day anyways. And when I said about the app I even called him before I came in and told him that they took me to the wrong place he had to tell me where to go. He finally said there was a 15-minute leeway so he wouldn't be charging me for an extra day. I said thanks have a nice day and he said have a nice day put the trailer over there. I had to pick it up myself and unload the trailer off of my vehicle it was one of the heavier trailers would have been nice if he offered to come outside and help but he was too busy sitting behind the desk on doing something on his computer. And then I got to charge on my credit card anyway for an extra day. So that means that guy lied to me to my face.Tommy W.

All of the equipment was great and I will continue to use U-Haul, but I will go to ANY other U-Haul dealer to avoid this immature asshole, even if I have to pay mor. Fire this dealer immediately and don't allow him to represent you anymore as a company. He was completely rude and immature, like an entitled 5 year old. I did nothing to deserve any of that. Taller, grey haired gentleman, he also tried relentlessly multiple times to push his mattress business on to me, not the U-Haul I actually came in for. He was really friendly at first when I had called in the morning about renting and rates. He then pushed me off the phone, saying, "I have like 3 people here in line, it will be easier if you come in." Okay, I get it, you're busy and there's a few details to cover. So I stop in just before 2 and this is where it all went downhill. I don't know if he kept drinking coffee after the 4th cup, if he's stressed (news flash, we all are), having a panic attack, hates his job or life, I don't know what was wrong with him, but there was absolutely no excuse for his infantile behavior towards me. What world does this man live in that you can interrupt, talk over, berate, insult, talk down to and be that disrespectful to CUSTOMERS, hello?? How do you think you make money?? He had absolutely no patience whatsoever, in helping me or answering my questions. Every time I asked a question about mileage or rates, if there's a deposit, he was condescending and sarcastic with almost every response, not to mention lightning quick. He either had 9 cups of coffee or did a couple bumps of coke or something, it was so strange. One of his sarcastic responses was "Sure, I can give you an exact rate...no, I can't do that! This isn't an exact science!!" I'm sorry, did you not hear me or were you not listening? If he was listening before, he would have rembered that I told him I've never rented a U-Haul before. That is why I asked questions lol, forgive me for trying to be informed on YOUR service from YOUR business that I'm paying for. He asked for a bunch of info rapid fire and then when I caught up with his speed and he got behind in typing, he gives me some snide remark, saying, "Hold on, I have to type all this." Then chill tf out and relax already, I was smiling and nothing but kind to you. Quit going a million miles an hour and I won't have to match your speed. I asked if he was able to give me a rough ballpark based on the mileage I gave him (11 miles) and the mileage when I came back (11 miles, as I stated initially). If he can't, totally fine, I kind of expected that. What I didn't expect was him being insulting towards me for even asking. I told him I only had $53 at the time, I was just trying to make sure I had enough money. There was no reason to bite my head off with every inquiry. I honestly don't think I even got a full sentence out without this man cutting me off. I have never rented a U-Haul before so naturally I had questions, forgive me for taking up so much of your precious and limited time. The way he chose to respond, interrupting every sentence I had, the sarcastic and pompous tone he chose to use with me, was so unbelievably rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional to a stupifying level. Not only that, but this man was going a million miles an hour, twitching at the computer. He then asked me if I wanted the insurance for collision for an extra $14, and I simply asked him what that covers, how it compares with my own personal vehicle insurance. Not only did he try to lecture me about what collision covers but he clearly wasn't paying attention when I told him in the beginning that I only had $53, which is why I was looking for a ballpark. The funny thing, is that I used to sell insurance (auto, home, motorcycle, boat, life, health, life insurance (whole, term, universal) medicare supplements), and am still licensed in P&C as well as L&H. I clearly knew more than you did about insurance in general, I was simply asking about U-Haul's collision coverage, not to lecture me about insurance concepts I'm well aware of. When I came back to return the vehicle, he asked me what I was going to do for the rest of the day, so I thought maybe he had taken some deep breaths for his obvious anxiety and maybe that's why he was being nicer. Then, the cherry on top, I still said, "thank you for all your help" and he cuts me off mid-sentence at "Thank you frr---" with, "Welcome". A one word response, not even "You're welcome", "happy to help", "no problem", yet again interrupting me and making me feel like I need to leave the store immediately. Not only that, he looked at me for like a split second as he word vomited that out immediately. Terribly sorry to have bothered you and taken up your time, that is exactly how he made me feel. What exactly did I do to you to deserve any of that, especially as a paying customer? You need customer service 101. I was nothing but respectful and patient with this sad excuse of an adult clearly going through a panic attack and he not only interrupted me again but couldn't even form a complete sentence. One word. This man needs to learn basic child manners that we all learned at 5 years old. He either needs to go through intensive anger management therapy and start breaking the Prozacs in half, or quit/be fired. The fact that you talked to me that way, the other customer who came back in and you thought they came back late (who actually wasn't but you berated him anyway and almost charged him fees for it), there is no reason why you should be in business, in any capacity. You are an adult. You need to learn to act like one. I'm also calling U-Haul's Corporate line to talk with someone and follow up on this. Do better, there was absolutely no reason for your childish behavior and you should be abhorrently ashamed of your actions/behavior, of yourself.JACOB A.

The â€œconvenienceâ€ of picking up this truck at whatever time I chose was competent eclipsed by the actual debacle ok picking up the truck. The amount of steps which were in no way listed out to understand the amount of time it would take took an obscene amount of time-and all stores were completed by me. Not an employee which should in fact create a discount because it spent cost you any money. Not a discount that I could see in my final bill. Also, the trucks being parked in the rear of this location. And the key pick up abs drop off in the front was extremely inconvenient.Kristin J.

Average rating is not the fault of this location, but rather entire rental process. Requested U-haul 5x8 trailer pickup in Madison, SD. The day before received call that it wasn't available there and I'd need to drive an hour south to Sioux Falls. Reluctantly accepted, because what else could I do so close to move date? Went to location they texted me when the switch was made and was told it wasn't there and that I'd have to drive across town to another location, Beds & Beds, to pick it up. Service there was excellent - quick check out and great assistance getting hooked up. However, next time I may look for alternative to U-Haul as I feel as though I can't depend on their system for ensuring availability of rental equipment.Tom K.

App kept freezing - had to re-enter all information. Confirmation of material provided poor. I am a US citizen with a valid address and license but still needed to provide proof. Would rather organize rental with a live human being in person. Whole experience was irritating and aggravating. Will not use mobile rental ever again. Rental started at 2:30p. They falsified the gas tank level. When I took the truck the guage showed under 3/4 tank. The paper work that was printed showed the tank level at 5/8 - 3/4 tank. I returned the truck and he claimed it should have been over 3/4 full. I drove the truck about 6-7 miles. That number was also falsified o. The papersork. The orevious time I rented a truck I specifically declined insurance. Yet they charged me for insurance. Thai dealer is dishonest.LARRY S.

I ordered a cargo van from the 11th street location in Sioux Falls and then my reservation said that there were vans available. The mileage rate for a van was $.69 per mile. I called to make a reservation and I was told there was a ten foot cargo van available at the 11th street location. So, my reservation comes up and it's for a ten foot cargo van on 41st street beds and beds location. First of all, the cab of the van stunk like dogs and was full of gnats. Secondly, the check tire air level light was on. Third, Instead of being charged for $.69 per mile as per my original reservation, I was charged $1.29 per mile and I had to drive more miles to get to the location to pick up the truck than the reservation I thought I made on 11th street location. I should have only been charged $.69 per mile as per my original order. I was told there were no vehicles available at the 11th street location. After I dropped off the stinky truck at the Beds and Beds location, I drove past the 11th street location on my way home. That location had at least a dozen ten foot cargo trucks, and a cargo van sitting in the parking lot. Would I rent another vehicle from Uhaul again? Perhaps, but only in person, not over the phone and certainly not online.Matt B.

Couple of things...I was unaware that I had to download the app to do an electronic checkout in the morning. I was trying to use the desktop version from my phone and it wouldn't find my location which meant I couldn't start the process. I didn't see anywhere that it said the app was needed, so it took me about 20 minutes to get it figured out. If I missed it then that's my bad. Other thing is that I had reserved a dozen moving blankets and got a message the night before that they were out of them. Goes back to the Sienfeld bit where he had a reservation on a rental car, but no car was available when he got there. You took the reservation on the blankets, which meant I should have had a dozen available. If there were none available, don't take the reservation. Other than that, went as smooth as it should have.Chris P.
