Today, I visited your Queens, Long Island City location to lock up a rental vehicle. However, your customer representative, for reasons unknown to me, became angry and treated me disrespectfully. I didn’t say much at the time, thinking she might be dealing with personal issues, but she insulted me and kicked me out of the office. Please review the security cameras. The woman was extremely rude and inappropriate. I picked up the vehicle around 12:30. She repeatedly cursed at me and forced me to leave the office. I believe she may have been experiencing psychological distress. I had booked the rental online, and she offered no assistance whatsoever. I truly don’t know what triggered this behavior, but please take this matter seriously.

When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I was told to wait outside because there was a customer in front of me. I was about ten minutes early so I understand, but after 20 minutes of waiting with no update I went back inside and when they saw I was still there they still took another ten minutes to get to me. I also had pre checked that was recommended, but I was still asked to give my ID and emergency contact. There is also not a lot of places to park when returning the vehicle that is acceptable to the owner. I would not recommend doing business with this particular location

Booked equipment was not in van upon arrival. Parking upon return was street parking which we had to find ourselves. This is a mild inconvenience after a long day, made much worse by terse customer service on the other side berating our inability to tough it out and telling us to go take public transit instead of expressing sympathy and confirming that we could park on a nearby street down the block.

I arrived at the location for a 7am pick up as scheduled. I followed the prompts on the UHaul app and when I opened the lock the key was not there. I called the 1-800 number right away and while I was waiting a woman drove by yelling at me saying, what are you doing!? I let her know I was renting a truck. After 30 minutes the person on the phone helped me and she gave me three different combinations before we arrived at the box where had the key. It was for the truck assigned to us; it had been placed in the wrong lock. While doing this trouble shooting the woman who owns the place where the locks are installed yelled at me again saying, we don't open till 9! She had nasty tone and refused to help. Finally by 8am we had access to the key. This was one our later than expected. This delayed my moving schedule. It created a challenge for me as the building I was moving to gave me a specific time that I have for moving. I would like a refund form UHaul for the inconvenience in delayed pick up and terrible customer service from the person at the truck pick up site. Thank you.

Worst ever imaginable. They actually require you to find a parking spot On the street before you return the truck. That took one hour. Then when they finally see the truck Tomorrow if there is any damage the customers will be blamed. Completely unacceptable and no one should ever use this place. Ridiculous and outrageous. .

This place had NONE of the equipment I rented, and the truck was filthy and did not run properly. The check engine light was on and the truck had trouble starting. The person running the desk was also horrible and unhelpful, telling me that if I didn’t like the truck and was upset about the equipment, I could go somewhere else. There was also no lot to park the truck, I had to spend 20 minutes looking for street parking. This was the worst U-Haul experience I’ve ever had.

The customer service I received was lacking to say the least. The employee at the service desk seemed almost inconvenienced by having to assist me, which was a problem on its own. She did not want to help at 1st, literally telling me she can't and to use the app. This was before telling me i couldn't stand where I was and was rudely told to step away from her counter. Then when I told her the app was not giving next steps to collect the vehicle, the attitude she gave was immense as she continued to be reluctant to help. I understand this is a 3rd party towing company that rents out Uhaul vehicles, but as a company representing Uhaul, they failed to uphold your good reputation. Coincidentally, this was my 2nd day of renting from Uhaul. The day before, I picked up a truck from an official Uhaul service area located in Queens by the BQE and the service was exceptional. The staff was quick to help and provide direction. Literally the complete opposite of this 3rd party company representing Uhaul. Yes I would recommend Uhaul to a friend but a strong "no" towards using this 3rd party towing company as a pickup location.

I set an appointment to pickup the van early in a weekend morning. I ended up having to be on the phone with support for nearly an hour to pickup the van because the shop did not properly prepare for my contactless pick-up. I was stuck outside in sub-freezing temperatures for an hour sorting things out with them before they organized a van for me. The truck I ended up getting was a bit dirty and did not appear to have been cleaned between uses.

The woman who works at this establishment is absolutely abhorrent. She was incredibly rude, curt, unhelpful and yelled at me. She was also not at the location when I went to drop off the vehicle and incurred additional costs to mileage trying to find parking to return the rental because 1) the other vehicles were parked terribly and left no room to park, 2) no one was there to help move said vehicles, and 3) offer assistance. I would not recommend anyone to rent or do business with this establishment because they will not be helpful whatsoever and the woman is probably racist. Absolute worse experience and encounter I have ever had and will not recommend nor work with them again. Would avoid at all cost.

CHECK ENGINE light was on the entire time; from beginning of pickup until drop-off. It isn't noted when you first sign-out the vehicle NOR in photos the customer is to take of the vehicle (just mileage, gas gage, cleanliness, and appearance of vehicle).

The entire front of the truck was covered in bird shit and the loading bay was open. In NYC?! The U-Haul app couldn't process the pick up, so had to go to the office where I had to repeat the whole process of supply a driving license and a credit card. The person in the office couldn't care less about the state of the truck. "Take it or leave" was the message I got.

From the online check-in, in which the agent took over an hour to check me in. To the fact that the car did not start from the moment i got in. I had to call customer service for them to send an assit vehicle to give me a jump start. That required me to then drive the car without turning off the engine, out of fear it wouldnt start again. The car was Great but the front desk attendant should be better trained. First of all, the app said I should get the key at the lockbox, when I get there I needed to go inside the “office” and talk to a very rough person that told me they don’t do the self check in and also I was wondering to get a appliance hand truck (that I paid 10,00) and she told me they don’t have this there for rent… then she gave me the key with a piece of paper with some instructions to where park the car back…. So unprofessional at all. But the car was brand new, pretty good (but came with no gas)

I got a rental to pick up at 6:30am, time when U-Haul decided to confirm all the information I gave on the reservation. I got issues becase someone from the contacts I gave on the reservation didn’t pickup the phone so I was able to get the car at 10am. I wonder, if I get a rental at 3 AM. U-Haul call my contacts to confirm the information at 3 Am ????

I am not the type of person that regularly leaves reviews. In fact, I never do. However, I have to point out that this was the single worst customer service experience I have ever seen in New York City. The woman at the front desk was so incredibly rude and hostile. I should have been able to avoid this if I just did a quick google search. There are dozens of reviews of this person online which perfectly match my terrible experience. It's as if these reviewers were with me today, which just shows she gives this treatment to everyone. Furthermore, there is no place to park when you return the truck and the employees yell at you until you find street parking, which is extremely difficult and time consuming in that neighborhood. This should not be the responsibility of the paying customer. Overall terrible experience and incredibly disappointing.

This location is HORRIBLE. Go check Google Reviews and see how many 1-star reviews it got. The lady at the front desk is extremely rude during pick up and return. Especially when I returned the van, she asked us to park curbside nearby, however, I was driving around for 2 hours and couldn't find any single spot. I turned her for help, she didn't providing any useful guidance or guide, and became extremely impatient and agitated while being asked questions. I have been using U-haul more than 10 times, this is the WORST experience I ever had, very likely in my whole life, not even close. U-Haul, if you really care about your reputation, this place needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY.

A truly miserable experience! As other customers have reported, the person who staffs this office is extraordinarily rude and unhelpful. The van itself was perfectly clean, but the air conditioning didn't work properly. Returning the van was a nightmare too, since this location has no lot or garage; you have to park on a parked-up street in Queens. Last but not least, there was no user's manual in the van; U-Haul customer service said there were no instructions they could send me. I guess if you rent a a van from U-Haul, you need to hope it functions just like your very own car. I have been to other U-Hauls where the customer service was of a whole other order. But I'm not inclined to ever rent a vehicle from U-Haul again. Certainly never again at this location!

I picked up on Sunday and was at the location by 12:24 pm on Sunsay 8/5/2024. The lady at the counter was the crudest, rudest and most unhelpful person ever. She said she was closing at 1 pm, but I was there sufficiently before 1pm. You may want to consider changing your location. I will actively dissuade people from going here.

Lynda I believe is the name of the person that was at the front office when me and my friend where trying to rent the truck and unfortunately the experience was one of the worst experiences ever. She was very fast and unclear at giving the instructions and even though you try to ask for an explanation you will not get an answer back!!! There was only one woman working there and she was extremely rude with a nasty attitude as soon as I stepped in the door. I used the app for my pick up but could not find my van. It said it was located in the parking lot, but there was no parking lot at this location, so I had to ask the woman inside and she was immediately extremely unpleasant. They also left equipment in the van from the last person who rented the van, when I didn’t rent any equipment to begin with, so the woman told me I had to empty the van for her because she couldn’t do it, even though this wasn’t any equipment that I had rented.

I do not like the parking situation at this location. I circled around different surrounding streets for at least 20 minutes trying to park. And I was charged for the furniture dolly which I ordered but never received. The woman who called me was very nice and told me about the parking and the dolly. I know she is not to blame. It was just very annoying to park and being charged for a dolly I never got really made what I was doing very difficult.

The lady at the desk of the pick up/drop off location was clearly not happy to help me manage the situation. I was having trouble with finalizing the renting online and she clearly did not want to help, first she sent me outside and said “I don’t want to help you because last time I helped a customer it took me 30 min to log back in my computer”. She was really rude to me while I was just trying to figure out how to finalize the process (since it was my first time and it’s supposed to be HER job..). And finally she thought I was making fun of her while listening to her telling me the instructions for the truck because she thought I was “smiling and making fun of her”, when I was just really listening and being polite..

The owner of the company we rented from was inpatient and barely helpful. It took over an hour to finally figure out the self checkout process. Would have been helpful if it was communities that I had to be qualified and that the rep would be calling someone to qualify me. Truck was dirty. Furniture pads were filthy. Lock was difficult to open and close. Honestly the entire process was a mess.

Picking up before office hours and trying to get the code to unlock a rusty combo lock was a pain. Had to go through the reservation process three times in order to get the code and then the lock was rusted and had to be jammed off in order to open. As others have said, when I returned I handed the keys to a lady who was condescending and snatched the keys from me and then a second later lost them in a pile of papers. Accused me of stealing the keys and I had to point out where she threw them on her desk. I’d rather go to Woodside for a rental than a back alley U-Haul

The lady at Big City Auto Body was rude and unprofessional. She was yelling the whole time and made me feel like her slave and not a customer. That lady is not happy with her job. I already set everything up online and scanned my driver's license, all we have to do is pick up the truck. When we got there the lady redo a whole new reservation so it took another 30 minutes which is unnecessary. That lady needs training in customer service and familiarity with the Uhaul online check in.

The UHaul van itself was fine--exactly what I expected. Big City Auto, on the other hand, was awful. The place is filthy, literally like a hoarders house. There was no restroom. The service was unpleasant to an extreme. Gruff, defensive, angry and unhelpful. Never left their seat, behind a glass window. Didn't say hello or goodbye or thank you. Instead, grumbled and growled. I previously rented from a UHaul elsewhere--in that case, it was a UHaul owned location--and had the opposite experience. I could never use this location again or recommend it.

Like other reviews have said, the staff was disorganized and did not have very good customer service. The van had mud all over the rear and the inside wasn’t super clean. Otherwise the van worked fine. Had to go to Woodside for storage units later anyways, MUCH better service there.

As other reviews of the location on google maps indicate, the woman who runs the place is absolutely awful. Maybe the most miserable person I’ve had to interact with. Yelled at me and disrespected me when I picked up. If U-haul has any care for customer experience you should really look into this, totally unacceptable.
