The gas station clerk did not know where the key was for the truck. Asked me to come back an hour later. When I refused because I had a reservation they said they could rent me a different truck. When I asked how much more it would cost it took forever to get an answer. I just said fine, I'll take that truck. which was the same size anyway. UHaul does NOT support their gas station locations. If they aren't careful, another company will swoop in and snipe their customers if they deploy a better customer service model. UHaul used to be a decent company. not anymore.Corrine H.

the vehicle had trash in it. The vehicle was not inspected by the attendant. The mileage was not verified, nor was the gas at time of rental or drop off. The location was way too far for pick up for a move from Boston. Having pick up locations at gas stations also radically decreases the quality of service for uhaul. The person behind the counter was very kind but did not have the code for the lockbox to get the key. My pick up took 45 minutes longer because of this. Then when I got to the truck it didn't have either of the dollies that I requsted. It was also parked behind two other vehicles and thus hard to drive out of the parking lot.Eric S.

The uhaul truck its self was fantastic. The gas station I picked it up from was horrible. They had no idea how to set up the uhaul process or anything. I had to go there several times. The 5 minutes it told me it took turned into 45. I had to ask several employees to put a mask on. When I returned the truck I spoke with the manager we refused to wear a mask and was an absolute jerk. I will NEVER go there again or recommend the placeStephen C.

It appears to be a lot of FALSE ADVERTISING going on! You make it sound so reasonable but that's NOT THE CASE when you get the bill! You make it sound like it's $39.95 for a day but I ended up paying $125 for 8 hours!!! You really need to start being HONEST with your advertising and I will be issuing a complaint with the BBB about your blatantly deceptive advertising to possibly help prevent another honest hard working individual from being deceived and ripped off.Lori C.

Very rude!! I called the 1800 number for U-Haul because I needed to know if I can drop off the truck at a different location because I'm sick I have cancer and I was not feeling well. the drop off location where my contract said to drop it off was 25 minutes away from my new move in home! I called U-Haul and I spoke to a Ray, he was very rude and had no consideration towards my self the customer. I had a newborn also in my car crying his lungs out and I still had to drop off all the way to Cranston. Ray said I had to because if not I was going to be charged 300 dollars. But I thought to my self because of my circumstances I would be able to drop at a U-Haul dealer that was only 2 minutes away. I was very very upset!!Randol R.

First, let me say that my most recent experience with your company was absolutely awful. I don't know how you find these places to store your trucks, but you need to up your standards. I reserved my truck for 9:00 AM on 6/24. Your corporate people called me the day before (or maybe it was 2 days before, either way) and confirmed that it would be ready for pickup. I got to the pick up place, BMC Petroleum (not my first choice, and not what your online app said was the closest that had the needed equipment) at 8:55 AM. I went to the clerk and told her I had a reservation for a U-Haul, and do you know what she said to me? "We don't do U-Hauls on Sunday". To which I replied, "I beg to differ. I have a reservation, here's my email confirmation." That started a 55 minute long circus of figuring out how to get me the truck that your company said would be ready for me at 9:00 AM. When you say something is going to be ready at 9:00 AM it should be ready. I expect to show up, show my ID, give my CC (if needed) sign some docs, and be on my way in 5-10 minutes. I've done it before. Not Sunday. First the "U-Haul Lady" wasn't there, so the clerk had to call someone up for directions on how to lend me the truck. She was on and off the phone with this person at least 15 times. Then she couldn't find the keys to the truck. Maybe they are in the lock box someone said. Then they couldn't find the keys to the lock box. Then the truck was doubled parked, and she couldn't find the keys to the other truck. We ended up driving 2 trucks over a curb to get it out in the end. The clerk also didn't know how to read a gas gauge. I heard her say on the phone to whoever from your company she was talking to that "it was almost up to the first line". Does that sound like a accurate reading to you? I didn't think so. I'm not kidding when I say that this transaction took 55 minutes. It was like a twilight zone episode. I stood in that stupid convenience store all morning. At one point, a fine, upstanding citizen, came in, paid cash for 3 loose cigarettes (not exactly legal), lit one in the store, then left. Is this the kind of place you want associated with your business? It was a mess. Moving on. My receipt has 2 charges on it that I'd like to kindly contest: EZ Fuel Sales: 3.6 Gal.: $16.20 Fuel Fill-Up Service Fee: $30.00 TOTAL: $46.20 I returned the truck to the gas station from which I rented it the same day and in good condition. The place where I rented the truck is a gas station, BMC Petroleum, and it is a full service only gas station at that. Yes, those still somehow exist. Thus, by extension, the attendant was also a U-Haul rep. I told him I'd like it filled up to the level it was at when I rented it. Of course, he didn't have any of the rental paperwork because this establishment is run by children. He asked me how much gas was in it when I rented it, and I told him that it was just under the 1/4 line. He said, OK, fChristopher P.

My reservation changed time and location 3 times in 24 hours and when we showed up to get the truck, even that location couldn't provide one until 7 hours after we needed it. Awful. I got to the location and started the pick up process on the app. It told me to go find my vehicle behind the building. As I was getting out of my car the man working behind the counter approached me asking if he could help me with something. I told him I was renting a U-Haul van and this is the first time I used the app. He told me to come inside then ignored me while helping others and answering phones. My reservation was at 4 and by the time he acknowledged me it was 415. Then he told me he works for the gas station and not U-Haul in a very rude manor. I was just looking for my key. I went outside and finished the app on my own where I was instructed to get my key out of the lock box. I went to the box and there was no key inside. I went back inside and spoke to the rude man where he came outside and got my key out of the drop box. If this location wasn't opened as I was instructed it wouldn't be when I made the reservation I wouldn't have been able to get my rental that I needed. Very poor customer service. My experience with U-haul has been very poor. First, my equipment at the location I had selected was never properly assigned to my reservation. I had to call customer service and was directed to another location to rent another truck. This location was further away, ad due to the delay of the error, effected our day's schedule. Then, upon my return, there was not an employee at the location who knew how to return my equipment and issue an invoice. I was told that I needed to come back the next day to pay. The following day, I see that they went ahead an charged my credit cardâ€”with no communication to meâ€”and charged me for an accident that I was never involved in. I did not have an accident, nor did I return any equipment with any damage.Alexandra G.
For a $20 rental they charged me almost $150. $45 for gas plus the mileage and they have gas pumps right there as they are a gas staton. The truck had cardboard when I picked it up and it was raining out. So I left the cardboard in the truck when I returned it. As far as cleaning fee goes, is it Uhauls policy to charge the customer when they rent in the rain and the box gets wet and some grass gets tracked in there? If so then I wasn't informed that I would have to fully clean the back on a rain day. I will never return to this location and depending on how you respond I may switch to budget next time.mark R.

Attached to a gas station, trucks can be rented from inside, and picked up / returned on the lot. All ups that I normally look for. Except that the girl that handles the rentals leaves (from what I understand) @2 pm. So check before renting from the uhaul on cranston street, in cranston to. Person running gas station couldn't give me the keys for the truck I reserved, nor could he print me a reciept for my rental I recently had. ( I gave the spot a second chance as that I needed a second rental less then a week later, and it's the closest rental I could find) the 50$ reservation guarantee is real though if your rental is not available, they will credit you 50$ and set up- help set up your rental at another pickup location.sameual B.

Well prior to arriving I used self check in thinking it would be faster, instead the attendant would help other gas station customers during my check in taking longer than expected. When I opened the back of the truck it was filthy. If I wasn't in a rush to get to my customer I would of requested a new truck elsewhere. The hand truck was also not secured. The back of the truck was littered with debris (Q-tips) and I had to sweep them aside to load my items. The truck died after I had driven it to my house (2 miles away) and loaded it up. I could barely get it out of my driveway. Roadside assistance came and had to tow the truck on a flatbed with all of my glassware (moving into new home)...Then yesterday, they called looking for the truck in a manner that I did something wrong b/c the system wasn't updated with the correct roadside assistance information (that the truck had been picked up Saturday night and taken to garage)...I normally use Oakland Beach uHaul in Warwick, RI and never have an issue...I feel as though I should even be charged for this rental!Kevin L.
