I have rented U-Haul trailers many times over the years, and this was by far the most questionable pickup experience I’ve encountered. When I arrived, I honestly wondered whether the location was even a legitimate business. The property looked more like an abandoned country store than an active rental center. There was a rundown RV trailer parked behind the building, a weathered mobile home nearby, and if not for a few faded U-Haul signs and the trailers sitting in the lot, I would have assumed the place was closed and kept driving. The biggest surprise was discovering that U-Haul’s “guaranteed reservation” apparently only guarantees that the equipment exists somewhere on the property. It does not guarantee that anyone will be there to assist you, verify your hookup, confirm your vehicle is appropriate, or ensure the trailer is safely connected. All of that was handled remotely over the phone. At that point, I found myself wondering why there was a storefront at all. The trailers were simply parked in the grass just feet from the side of the road with no gate, no attendant, and no visible oversight. The entire process felt more like retrieving equipment from an unattended storage yard than renting from a professional business. Thankfully, the trailer itself was serviceable and I completed my trip without incident. However, the location gave off a strong “proceed at your own risk” vibe from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. U-Haul may consider this a modern self-service model. To me, it felt like the company outsourced customer service to a cellphone and hoped for the best.

We dropped off during non business hours, but it was a very easy process.
SIERRA PAgain my only complaint is I couldn’t drop at one of the two locations close to my destination in Cheraw SC. The Bennettsville location was a bit far but not a big problem. Countryside Variety store was great and the lady was as sweet as pie!
SCOTT KThe classic Mom and Pop store moonlighting as a U-Haul dealership. I arrived after-hours and my phone died doing U-Haul's ridiculously inconvenient self-return process. That's not on the store--that's on U-Haul. If you're looking to rent a U-Haul from this location, from what I could tell, the selection was limited. I think there was a single trailer when I arrived. That's the nature of this super small U-Haul locations. It's worth the extra time and money to rent from an official U-Haul store (usually), but it's great having these smaller places for returns.
Tyler CEverthing was great
SHAKEITHA MThe phone's not working properly.
ROBERT WDonna Lennon at this location was the only reason I waited almost 2 hours, for the previous renter to return the U-Haul I had reserved for 12:30. She has excellent customer service skills and is one of most polite and respectful persons I’ve met at U-Haul. She definitely deserves recognition and a raise.

Demetrius MEverything was ok.
Natalie PThere was no where to park a 26' big truck, lot was so small, I had to park next to their building which was probably their parking lot. The drop key lock box was locked so I couldn't drop key in slot but slipped it thru slit on back of lock box lid. Kinda stupid
