I did have some significant difficulties after the reservation that U-Haul itself confirmed turned out to not have been confirmed. One of the purposes of renting from U-Haul in the first place was jeopardized by the delay of my trip that was to haul the gear I had been hired to transport. I came within 20 minutes of missing my connection because the cargo van I had reserved at one location was no longer available and it was necessary that I travel across Hudson to another U-Haul location and rent a truck instead. There, a new set of difficulties developed, adding time pressure and stress. Fortunately, in the end, it all worked out. It cost more money in gas and in time than had initially been planned by my client, but the trip was concluded successfully. I think there was a glitch in the reservation system, though, and the renter who had the van I was confirmed to get neither returned the vehicle on time or even responded to his phone. This nearly caused me a great hassle. However, as I said, all was right in the end. Now, how about more current truck models with USB ports so renters can recharge cell phones? Michelle FI had to dig the truck out of the snow, clean it off, and un freeze the doors. I forgot to get a hand truck. Wanted to add one. The guy wouldn't do it. He didn't have enough blankets that I ordered. The engin oil was low, i had to buy oil for the truck. the washer fluid was empty. I had to buy that too. And the truck made a knocking noise. I was afraid and stressed out the whole trip thinking it was going to break down. O shared my experience with my 900 friends on Facebook. I would never want sombody to have that stress on a move.
JEREMIAH WMy bill was $5 more than my estimate, and the gentleman at the counter didn't disclose that this was because somewhere along the line a $5 Safe Trip fee was added which I never signed up for. Truck was very clean, but the steering was extremely sloppy and bumpy due to very obvious front-end issues which the guy seemed to be aware of due to his questioning when I returned the truck and the handwritten sign in the driver window stating that the truck was only for in-town trips. I won't be using this location again.
