As a first-time U-Haul user, I wished to pick up and check in for the vehicle with a person. I understand getting a different truck due to availability, but I did not appreciate my pickup location changing from a U-Haul facility to a third-party service. I do not think this vape shop should be used as a pickup location for U-Haul. The individual working when I arrived did not seem to understand the process. I asked about getting the keys, and he said he did not have them. As I was on the phone with U-Haul asking about the situation, he came back and said he could get me the keys if I had my order number. Apparently he called his friend and said I was "lucky his friend had just woken up" to explain how to get the keys. He did not seem to know how to check me in, so after I gave him the order number, he just gave me the keys. In reviewing my order, I found a way to check in online from an email I received AFTER my desired pickup time. After completing the check-in information online, it would not go through because it said my contract was under evaluation or something. I had to call someone from U-Haul again. With their help and downloading the app, I was able to check in. (I had wished to avoid downloading the app.) This check-in took 45 minutes of my rental time. Now that I had the app, I could also see the moving material I ordered was at the original location I requested and did not come with the truck to this new pickup spot. This was frustrating since I did not want to have to drive to a second location for some odds and ends moving supplies. I am thankful I was able to cancel this supply order and that a refund has been processed. The return process went smoothly enough since I had the app and knew the vape shop person would not be much help. When I went into the store to return the keys, another person was working at the vape store with the man I spoke with in the morning. He seemed to be the friend who I was "lucky he woke up" and answered the first worker's call during my pickup. This new worker was willing to help me check out, but I let him know I already did. His demeanor was fine with me, but he was rude to his coworker, whom I spoke with in the morning, and I did not like that despite having been frustrated with the man myself. It was a poor first experience.

We reserved our 15 foot U-Haul truck from the 9890 Central Ave NE Blaine location two weeks before our move. About 24 hours before our scheduled move, we received notice from Blaine location that they didn't have our truck anymore but said we could use the truck from Dicks Vape Shop in Spring Lake Park. We were skeptical at first. I didn't know Vape shops rent trucks, so I stopped in to visit the location the evening before, saw the U-haul sign in the window, and spoke to the manager on duty. He assured me the truck would be available the next day and that he would help with the Ipad paperwork processing for the rental. Overall the truck rental from Dicks Vape Shop worked well and we received courteous support from the manager on duty. If using this location for truck rental, I would suggest allowing additional 15-20 minutes for check-out/check-in depending upon how many customers are in the Vape shop at the time you are picking up your rental truck. Overall, I rated 4 stars (I dropped 1 star due to Blaine location dropping the ball initially on our guaranteed reserved truck two weeks earlier).

Going to a vape store to rent a truck is the crazy thing. The staff was unsure and had to interrupt my check in and out to help people but tobacco products.

Reservation was moved to another location a week prior to pickup because the equipment requested wasn't going to be available. Upon arriving at the new location, the truck I set for easy pickup was not there. After waiting 2 hours for the "office" (smoke shop) to open (note: online said 10a, the smoke shop this runs out of opens at 8a...) the person behind the counter could barely navigate the POS, could barely check me in, and handed me the keys to the incorrect size truck with none of the requested dollies or pads. When he called his exceptionally strung-out and barely paying attention manager, the manager informed me over the phone that the person with the correct size truck and told me to drive all the way up 20 minutes to a DIFFERENT location that would have the equipment. I proceeded with the incorrect size truck and without equipment because with the 2 hour delay the movers would be at my house in 10 minutes. The truck itself had low tire pressure IMMEDIATELY upon turning over, and also reeked of cigarette smoke. I am in the process of requesting a refund and filing a complaint against this location.
