The truck wasn't clean and the check engine light was on! I explained this to the employee where I rented the vehicle from, prior to my taking the truck. He said that it was ok to just drive it as is.

Equipment was clean, cust service was very good but 2 service lights were on for tires and stabilization service needed. I think this should have been done prior to pick up. the $20 “after service fee” is a waste. I was told no after hours key drop off but the key slot was open Sunday and I was told to drop off the key Monday am. Nothing had changed and this was annoying as I felt the Monday am trip was unnecessary.

I received a call Monday am asking when I was returning the truck. I was told that I had a 3 day rental and was late. I left my office, drove home and returned the truck. When I reviewed my copy of the contract it stated a 4 day rental period. Why did I have two different rental periods? This was an extreme inconvenience to return the truck a day early. The Empire Mini Storage and U-Haul at the Alameda San Jose were OK. HOWEVER, the traffic control unit was a disaster with respect to arranging a one-way moving truck rental from San Rafael to San Jose. Confirming twice a truck rental, one as far a Chico pick-up, and then in both cases no truck was available. There ought to be some organisation consequences due to such poor performance.

I rented a small trailer to pick up aKawasaki UTV that I recently bought. The vehicle was too wide to fit on the trailer. I called to see if the location had a larger trailer, it did. I asked how wide the trailer was & was told 6'. I returned the smaller one & towed the 6'er to retrieve the UTV. This 6' trailer was again too small since the sides at the gate made entry impossible. I guess this was my fault but not knowing that 6' ain't 6' is critical knowledge that wasn't passed along!

For the second time in two weeks, U-Haul has changed what I asked for. Last time I reserved a 26 foot truck and was given a 15 foot truck. This time I got the 15 foot truck I wanted but I had to go to Novato to get it instead of San Rafael as reserved

I went to the website first which stated the hours of operation. I called @9:00 am and a recorded message stated that the business opened at 9:00 am. I then called every 10 minutes and got the same message until a person answered @9:41am. I told him that I thought that they had interesting hours. He asked me what I meant and I told him that I had tried 4 times previously to get a person. He told me that there were 2 employees there and he couldn't figure out why I was not successful in reaching them. Hmmmmmm. Felt uncomfortable to me and at the end of the day, when I returned the truck I had my cell phone with me when I walked in the door to bring the truck back, and finish my business. I left, got in my car to drive home (only 6 mins. away) I realized that my cell phone was not with me. I immediately called them and they told me that it was not there. I went back anyway and looked around. I tried calling my cell phone 2 times to perhaps hear it, without luck. The third time I called, it was shut off. I feel that someone in that facility took my phone. Later that evening I got an email alerting me that my iCloud id had been attempted. Big bummer. There is no other place that my phone could have been.

The vehicle cabin as dirty. Several vehicles (including mine) were parked in the fire lane despite the red painted curb and the warning signs. I hope that the fire department never has to try to get past these vehicles to fire a fire.

The staff was so supportive. I did not have the electric plug or cigarette lighter charger to charge my phone and the guys gave me their personal one to keep, and also helped me out with a lock. They went above and beyond and also delayed their lunch so I can arrive early and pick up the truck. So grateful!

Clean- ish. There were leaves in the back and it smelled bad. The worst was the dependence on the app. The gas level was different than on the paper. I told the fellow. He said use the app. The app said the same amount I saw in the car. So there was no update needed. Upon returning he says I didn't put enough. Bad experience. Use people. Not the app. I don't think it is an issue with this location so much as with U-Haul. Go Penske!

My worst experience ever from Uhaul. You guys guaranteed a truck 26 feet long and offer $50.00 but when I arrived to pickup the truck it wasn't available and the seller offered me a 15 feet long. So like you can imagine I had to do 4 trips in total to finish my move. So i do not believe I have to pay $250 since you guys didn't provide me the right truck. Very disappointed.

I rented on Saturday morning - no way I could return before closing at 5 pm. I dropped at 8 pm on the same day and your after hours drop off procedure sucks. Why I have to go through 4 steps (including Smart Phone location verification) online and make at least 4 pictures? Two years ago when I used U-Haul it was just key drop. With current procedure it means you don't trust your customers.

The return check in process is infuriating. I set up an account, can make a reservation, pay, but it wouldn't let me check in the vehicle and now I'm going to be charged extra?! For YEARS one could just drop off a vehicle and go. At the end of a long day moving heavy stuff, the last thing I want to do is jump through hoops on an app that doesn't function. I will be using any company other than uhaul from now on.

The APP used for check-in sent me to another website where I had to sign in AGAIN and then put me through a series of extra steps I was not anticipating when on-site to get the vehicle - including waiting for approval. Really? I booked this online two weeks ago - could we have done that THEN? ALL of those steps could have been part of my u-haul profile which I completed online - but NONE of that information was in the app. I had to RE-ENTER IT ALL AGAIN on-site. Poor execution on the app process.

This location was nice BUT, an additional 30 miles RT from the place I reserved in San Rafael, E. Francisco! They said they sent me a text message, they in fact did not! It threw our schedule off. Also, the app location tracker needs to be explained better, people are tired when they are moving. They charge an extra $20 if no proof of return after hours, but if someone can't use an app, then you're charged a $20 inconvenience fee for calling the number provided. U Haul nickel and dimes everything. So my $39.95 truck was $150 because they sent me to another location, thus creating 30 more miles and harder to return! Bait and switch tactics leave me to never want another U-Haul for moving.

Truck was a bit dirty, but not terrible. My complaint is with the corporation: my wait times to get help with my reservation were TERRIBLE, 25 - 30 minutes, and one time disconnected after over 30 minutes waiting. Also, the "after hours service fee" is bogus. If you don't use the app, you get charged extra? And the app did not work. Could not find my location, which makes no sense. I don't understand why the app has to find the location in the first place. And it just flat-out did not work. So I get charged $20 more? Not okay with me. If there were an alternative, I'd consider renting there. I'm not enamored with my overall experience, but the rental location folks were great, they did contact me prior to the reservation, and everything went smoothly with them.

The agent was quite helpful and supportive due to the combination of our pandemic coupled with the stress of moving. I was happy to have been able to rent from this location and would fervently refer anyone and everyone to this location. I would also like to share that It was not the closest location to me, but it was the best in experience for me and I am grateful for their most kind and patient service.

Almost an hour out of my way from “requested” location. I was prepaid and checked in on-line and still had to wait 15 minutes to be told they only had 6 of the 12 pads I rented. Another 5 minutes to have the refund request processed and he then came out without the 6 they did have. Was told U-Haul had called and tried to rent my trailer to someone else.
