Why was I charged $20 for an after hours fee when I rented the van at 12:15 and returned it at 3pm, when my actual return time was 4pm?

The app for after-hours/contactless pickup is very slow and I had to retry steps many times. Also the instructions it gave me when returning the van did not actually tell me to put the keys back in the lock box, so I can see how someone would forget and leave with the keys

While the van was in fine condition, the other equipment I rented to help with my move (dolly, hand truck, furniture pads) was not in the truck as it was supposed to be. After two calls to Uhaul and 30+ minutes on hold each time, I was unable to get the equipment I needed. I then had to call a third time after I returned the truck and wait on hold again to get the charges for the missing equipment credited back to my card. I have not had issues in the past with renting vans from Uhaul but after this experience I will not rely on them for equipment.

The UHAUL app was hard to navigate and we needed to call customer service to figure out how to finish our reservation for our truck. Also, please communicate that this isn't an actual UHAUL location it is just a pick up and drop off site and that the repair shop isn't affiliated with UHAUL. That was very confusing for both parties.

MANY problems with the app. Took 50 minutes for SELF checkout. I consider myself tech savvy. Problem with taking some of pictures. Went to youtube for FAQ, at the start, couldn't find the button to click to get started. Had to call your Cust Service. Was on the phone with 10 min+. I know, it's not directly a problem with the location, but I would only recommend going to a place with staff, even if planning on self checkout. This place was closed, as expected. Self checkout was painful.

I selected to pick up keys to my vehicle in person at their service desk. Because of the pandemic, they claimed they were only operating using 24/7 truck share and that all keys were in their lock boxes. But my reservation wasn't set up to do that. So then I spent 25 minutes waiting to speak to a U-Haul customer service rep. They were able to switch me to truck share, but after going through the process, I STILL had to ask Erie Collision Center for the key. The app would not let me get the key myself. Someone there was able to help me but this whole process took about 45 minutes when it should have taken 5. ECC and U-Haul need to fix this process to make it so trucks can only been booked for 24/7 truck share and so the U-Haul app allows you to access the truck without bothering the collision center staff.

Truck was kind of dinged up. No one was there and had to pick up and park in front of an area that had a no parking sign so was a little confusing to drop off. Also my pickup location was changed without an email notification

We had a different drop off site first, but when we arrived there, there were no spots available. After half an hour on hold, we were redirected to this site. When we arrived the directions said to park in the lot, but the lot was fenced and locked. After another thirty minutes on hold, we were told to leave the truck parked in the street. It took over two hours total to return our truck and I am furious. It was extremely frustrating after a long day of moving in the heat, and I will never use UHaul again.

I have never met someone so rude, the guy screamed at me when I came to ask where he wanted the vehicle parked and cursed at me. the truck was clean but had damage that wasn't marked at all. Will never use this location.

Absolutely awful. Went to go pick up the U-haul, which I had made a reservation for pickup through the App so I could pickup my truck before the in-person pickup was open. I also was not told I would need an app, but was able to figure this out through the other bad reviews left on the Uhaul review pages. When I got to the pickup location that the app told me to go to (which also had changed the location on me), the app said "this location does not apply for 24/7 pickup," which is a lie, as there were a million signs all over the building stating "24/7 pickup here." The app told me to call a phone number listed, which I did. As you can imagine, I called multiple times and was on hold all day and still never got through to someone. I ended up waiting around for in person pickup to open up later in the morning at the Erie collision center of Chicago, where the man I kindly explained my situation to was a total a**hole to me and his employees, to the point his employee told him to calm down and even apologized to me. I also was charged an additional fee for in person pickup, which I could have avoided if the app actually worked!! I also emailed about this and as you can also imagine, I have not heard back either. Totally awful, was overcharged because of an error on U-hauls part. Will be using Penske instead (which I will pay more for, but know it is more reliable) when I move out if this is not resolved. Ended up paying double what I had anticipated overall because of the in-person pickup which I was not planning to do any way, but had no other choice. Made the move much more stressful than it should have been.

The whole process was a nightmare, I had no prior notification that getting the keys from a lock-box required downloading and registering for an app, uHaul messed up my pick-up time so I had to spend about an hour on the phone with representatives getting it changed so I could get access to the keys. The return process was horrible and again there was no prior notification I would have to photo the entire truck, Luckily i didn't return the keys before I found that out. I hired movers for 2 hours to help move furniture but the whole first hour was wasted trying to get the keys.

Waited in the pouring rain for an hour trying to get the key - no one at the location could help me. Called 1-800 uhaul. Was left on hold for 25 minutes with no resolution. Had to call uhaul 3 times. Took 55 minutes on the phone to get the contract cancelled and another issued for a different location. Felt totally ignored as a customer by uhaul

i checked in on line then come to find out that I have to download app etc - customer service could not help - they told me I needed to trouble shoot the situation - I spent an hour wading through accounts resetting passwords etc and was very frustrated - you need to communicate that there are new procedures when booking on the web site - also wildly different prices from Collision on Ashland and Expressway rental in Forest Park - seem like price gouging Also second time I went back it said expressway was out of vans - I drove by that location 6 times that day a saw vans sitting w snow on the windshields - very frustrating

I was locked out of my van for over one hour. It was 20 degrees. My link did not work. I waited on hold for over 40 minutes to even speak to a representative. I was told i would receive $50 off for the issues and she forgot to file the report i was told today. So now I've spent another hour today to file a report. I then called the number I was given and no one answered. I expect a full refund. This is the WORST service I've ever received. It feels as if you don't even care about your clients.

This location does not do 24/7 pick up via the uhaul app. I was supposed to get a $50 refund due to the fact that my rental wasn't ready at 0800 like I had reserved, instead I had to wait until 845 when the place opened.

The location and service was fine, but the U-haul service process is bullshit. I stood outside in the cold for over 35 minutes waiting for “approval” of my already “pre-approved” reservation. It was early in the morning, so it took nearly 15 minutes to even get an initial response. Why could this not be verified prior to my pick up. In total, it took 42 minutes to pick up my “pre-approved” rental. Took longer to pick it up than it did for my entire trip. Completely unorganized, poorly run company. Go elsewhere.

I was not real clear on where to leave the trailer since it was a Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. The place I was supposed to leave it was closed and their gates shut. Thankfully a spot opened up on the street where we were able to back the trailer in. We should have been made aware that we were to leave the trailer on the street. Other than that, no problem.

Erie Collision is excellent! U-Haul's "Truck Share 24/7" is slow and terrible though. I could have checked in at the counter faster.

Make it more obvious it's not branded as a U-Haul location - everything was fine once i rounded the corner and saw the U-Haul truck waiting, but very confusing at first. Staff was helpful.

Erie's Collision Center was great. Very friendly and helpful. The U-Haul website was very frustrating and disappointing. The Approval process was taking so long, so the owner of the center was nice enough to help me in person. The Mobile site process needs improvement.

I did not understand the Uhaul policy of charging per-mile rate when we have to return the vehicle after filling the half tank. We are already paying the vehicle rental fee and per mileage cost then why we have fill the tank?

First location did not have any space to drop off the trailer. This location ( Erie Collision Center) had space so I dropped off here. Representative should make sure location has space before telling clients to drop off at that location.

Horrible nightmare. When picking up our reserved truck on the scheduled date at 1700 S Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60608 there was no one at the location to give us our rental. We wasted the entire day talking to U-HAUL representatives and couldn't move on our scheduled date. Wouldn't recommend. Irresponsible and unreliable.

No problems with the location, all problems with Uhaul. The website somehow duplicated my order, causing the app to reject me with no information given. Waited on hold for 45 minutes, then was dismissively told to create a new account account and start over. Asked to speak with a manager, waited on hold some more, finally got someone helpful. She had to delete both orders and have me start over but eventually (almost 2 hours after scheduled) succeeded in getting me approved for a truck. Your agreement has a $50 gaurantee. How exactly do I get that, after all the issues I encountered?

Great experience, the gentlemen could not have been nicer and more helpful. There was actually a closer pick up location, but the reviews were hit or miss, you never need more stress on moving day, so I went with this location. Highly recommend!

Maybe this place is great, but you better hope that no one with the same last name has a reservation on the same weekend. They may just charge you instead, without bothering to check the reservation number, the date or time on the reservation, or that the driver's license information matches. Then instead of packing, you get to spend two hours on the phone being told you can't be helped because you already picked up the vehicle.

Adding an option to be pre-approved prior to rental would be helpful, especially to those of us in colder climates. I was standing out in the cold and snow for 20 minutes waiting to be approved for my rental, as the location wasn't actually open when I picked it up.

All Day Tires location is the worst chain - they have like one truck otherwise you have to drive further and then they have to amend the contract because of mileage difference. this location was much better.

PLease see my customer service email. I had problems with returning this rental. I called yesterday when it was happening and today to try and speak with customer service AND I emailed AND attempted to live chat and STILL nobody has gotten back to me and I still don't know what the status of my rental/purchase is. Will NEVER use uhaul again if this can't get solved! :(
