The check engine light was on the whole day, right from the first time I started the truck. It turned out ok, but I don't need that anxiety for the whole day wondering if I'm going to have a engine breakdown. When I returned the truck, the clerk then told me that that occurs because of the cold weather. What a load of nonsense. I'm a retired General Motors executive. There is no way a check engine light should be on - ever- unless there is a problem. Fix it and don't rent it out to the next person like that. There are two cables that assist the cargo door lift, the one on the left was broken. It made the door hard to open. Very frustrating and painful to lift. It has been like that for a while too, as the loose cable has worn a groove in the floor where it fell and deformed the door seal because the door closes on it. Very dissappointing to have to put up with that. Pick-up and drop-off were way too long. This is likely to get better as this location is new and the employees were fumbling through things, especially the pick up. The kid had to phone his supervisor and walk through every step over the phone. C'mon - it's Saturday morning, you know you have rentals going out - train the guy on duty on the process to get customers assigned to the trucks. Like I have that kind of time to waste with people hanging around waiting on this truck so we can get moving. The below average rating is because of the check engine light and broken door cable on the truck. Otherwise it would have been an average rating because of the slowness of the store.

The pick up process was very long. It had snow and there was huge blocks of ice and lots of snow on top. When I asked about it I was told to clean it. He did finally go out to make a slight hole and I was expected to drive this way. Very unsafe. Finally, when I got home and open the truck it was dirty and full of leaves. Had to clean that before transporting anything in the truck. I’ve rented UHaul before with no problem. I would rent again BUT definitely not this location.

i've used uhaul in the past and again recently and both were very poor experiences when it comes to picking up the vehicle; during the most recent experience it took an hour to pick up the vehicle from a live person at the esso gas station; i had uploaded my drivers license on the app the week before but when i went to pick up the vehicle only the front of my drivers license was uploaded and it did not have the back so i wasn't able to pick up the vehicle because there was no way for me to upload the image via the app; i had called support and support personnel were very good and walked me through the app but again there was supposed to be an option to upload but did not work for me; in the end the support staff escalated to a manager and was able to override the system and they had to speak to the esso attendant before he would hand over the keys to me; all this took an hour!!! I really think the whoever designed the system actually try a blind test and rent a vehicle to see what it's like; and i'm not even going to mention the whole scheduling issue i could write a novel about that because my pick up location was changed two times; oh yeah and not to mention that each time someone from uhaul called me i always asked them and reminded them that i was renting a dolley and each time the person on the phone assured me that my dolly rental was good but when it actually came time to picking up the vehicle - guess what - NO DOLLY AGAIN (this happened last year too); i figured after two bad experiences i'm going to have to try some other service next time; as far as the vehicle goes, the vehicle ran well and had no issues with the truck
