My location on my reservation was 4th Street auto & tire, upon arrival the man working the front desk informed me that there was NO truck for me. My name wasn't listed and they had one truck but it was for someone else at 4:30. I showed my name, and confirmation number telling me to go to fourth street tire and auto and he said well I don't know what to tell you, but you can go to European auto garage and they'll have one for you, we're really busy in June.....excuse me? I understand being busy but the whole purpose of reserving an â€œavaliableâ€ truck is to ensure you have an available truck the day of. What was the purpose of me Reserving and going to a location on my reservation confirmation if the avaliable truck I reserved isn't there? European garage was helpful, but I wouldn't recommend 4th Street auto to anyone.TAYLOR M.

Truck was not available at location on my confirmation and guy at desk didn't really care. We had to push for him to find us one. He said the people who take your order on the phone aren't good at their job and he's correct and he wasn't very good either.Renee S.
They directed us to the parking spot to drop off the truck and on the way there we hit the top of their garage, since this is an official U-haul location it should be equipped properly and have enough space for trucks to park.Nikita R.

I reserved a 9' van online and for pick-up at 820 E 3rd St. Long Beach at 7am. The shop opens at 8:15am so I was expecting an instruction online on where the lock box is and the code. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the lock box and called the U-Haul hotline for help. They didn't know where the lock box is either and I had no choice but to wait for the shop to open and waste 1.5 hours of my time. I talked to the shop attendant and she said only her supervisor knows where the lock box is and the code so I would need to call that supervisor. The u-haul hotline doesn't know this. The van was covered in animal hair, they gave me a much smaller dolly than the one I requested and charged me twice for the big one. There was no where to leave the van when I was done, I had to park it by a restaurantMerisa C.

I had rented the van at 4pm for 5 hours until 9pm then I contacted customer support because I would need the van until 2pm the next day and I was told that extending wouldn't cost me another day, it would be the same amount plus mileage and gas. now I received my bill and I'm being charged for two days when I was told I was not going to be charged extra and I returned the van in less than 24hoursMichael M.

The service was good and friendly. However, the steering wheel was so dirty and when I went to drop off the truck at night I was told to leave it in the driveway, as there was no parking. 2 cars were parked in the driveway and there was no where for me to park the truck. I called customer service for assistance and when they answered I was immediately transferred and placed on hold again. Luckily the people who parked there came out and moved eventually before customer service answered the phone again. Very frustrating to deal with at 10:30pm when I had just moved everything and drove 80 miles round trip.Steven F.

The check in process does take some time. Took me about 25min to complete. I ended up being overcharged on mileage, my original reservation was 150miles, after I turned it in I found I was charges for miles over 100. Overall, the experience was pleasant, I wish the mileage was listed on my quotes so I could have caught the error. Customer service reps were courteous and helpful through the entire process.Taylor M.

I was unable to get into the van I rented. The instructions said the key was under the driver's seat in a van that was locked. The number provided went to a man who was out of town for the weekend. His voicemail references two other guys who didn't answer nor return my messages. Ultimately, I got a refund and had to move everything on my own. UHaul even asked that I call them back later to coordinate a new rental. I asked that they call me back when ready and they said they were unable to do so. I made a reservation online that was not on your books when we got there to pick up the van. We went to a different U-Haul place and when I called to see what was available since our reservation was not honored they told me exactly what I had reserved was available at this exact location. So we went back and got what I had originally ordered but not under our initial order because they did not have it on their books. I had reserved a dolly also and they could not deliver that. They offered something else that was not sufficient for our needs. There was no place to park on this U-Haul property, even for a few hours. I would never ever use this facility again.Lori B.

The truck I was issued was filthy on the outside, caked with dirty and dried cola and needed to be swept. The driver side and back door were covered in graffiti. The older woman who assisted me accidentally cancelled my reservations and had to call corporate to fix the issue. This caused a delay of about 30 minutes. Her actions defeated the whole purpose of booking online because I saved no time.Shawn H.

I reserved a 10' truck with a basic dolly. When I arrived I was told that there were no basic dollys available and that I would have to rent an appliance dolly for an extra charge. The truck was missing the driver's door window handle, only one power socket worked ans there was excessive wind noise on the driver's side form a misaligned door.Drew C.
Actually have the gas tank full when given to the customer. I drove 11 total miles with the rental truck and it cost me $19.46 to fill the tank to full to return it. I will never go back to this location and will tell friends to avoid it so they aren't ripped off like I was.Darral H.
We selected self pickup at 5:30 a.m but when we arrived and went through the online pickup process, the truck was locked and we were told to call Robert Kuiper. He answered on the 3rd try and told us he would setup at truck at another location but we would have to wait until 7 am for them to open, so we waited. At 7am we showed up to this location and unfortunately Robert had not informed them of our situation so we waited for them to contact him and we were told they didn't have anything available. At this point we were told to go back to the original location which would open at 8 am. We were finally able to get the truck 2 and a half hours later which were full of confusion, unprofessionalism, and stress. We had setup a very early pickup time as we had appointments and time restrictions. Robert said he would send us a 50 dollar credit but our card was still charged at which he said he would send a receipt saying we will get a $50 refund in 3-5 business days but we have not received any kind of confirmation. This self pickup system has flaws and may put people in a very difficult situation at a time that is already stressful enough.Cristal B.

My pickup time was at 8 a.m. I arrived about 7:45 a.m. to find that my Uhaul was unlocked. I then started the self check in process, I got a message saying no equipment had been assigned to me, which was in fact an error. I called the assistance number, which sent me to a voicemail for a manager who was out of town. The voicemail then directed to me to two different numbers. I called one...no answer, I called the second and Mike helped me complete the process. I then had to get the keys from the owner of the shop. The owner of the shop was 10 minutes late. When I came inside, she couldn't find my name, after 10 or so minutes, she figured out that she was on the wrong screen. I got my keys and left about 8:30 a.m.Jennifer G.

I have no issue on this rental; however, I also rented a 15 foot truck a couple weeks ago. My problem with that truck was the gas mileage. I traveled only 52 miles total and I had to put 11.5 gallons of gas in when I returned the truck to a 76 Union U-Haul place. Getting only 4.5 mpg doesn't seem right, but I supposedly got a full tank when I rented the truck.Gary L.

1) says open at 8am -- they arrived 8:15 2) I pre-registered and pre-paid. She did not have that information until I explained it all and gave her my confirmation number 3) the vehicle was a toilet and had to be 409'd and windexed because of the sticky seats, smoky scent and overall dirt; 4) bad breaks -- no, make that terrible breaks and a grinding noise when n accelerated 5) wanted to charge me for 1/4 tank of gas when I went 30 miles. If I were you, I'd give me a credit of some sort because as far as I know this is how U Haul does all its business.Thomas G.

The location is right next to a run down auto garage but the trucks are parked on a nice looking street. The whole getting into the U haul without using a person before they even open was truly amazing. Great idea Uhaul it was super smooth for me.stepen G.

Ordered a van and hand truck for a move. When I arrived I was told they don't have hand trucks there...this made my move impossible so I had to race to a different U-Haul location...this delayed us by 2 hours and an extra 20 miles in a van I was paying for by the mile from you guys....and all along zero apology from anyone at the first location.Marcello F.

Horrible customer service. Had to wait 2+ hours past our booked time and they overcharged us when they were not suppose to. When we tried calling to resolve their issue, they would hang up and never return calls. Uhaul also has not responded to multiple emails sent through customer service. I rented the pickup truck. It was perfect for my towing need. I do have to say the truck was dirty inside and out. It had not been washed in a while or inside the cab cleaned. The location was close to me and I had very low mileage charge. I am going to rent again to tow my dinghy back to my marina.Edwin L.

The website got my reservation wrong. The site didn't have internet on the day of my reservation so check-out and check-in took a long time. The site did not have the furniture pads I reserved. The gas level on the contract was in correct. Parking the truck when I returned was difficult. The staff worked hard to manage some of the problems, but overall this was a bad experience that will make me think about other companies next time.David W.
