Since the facility was closed, we never entered. Also, the location is very remote, and I was unable to "check in" at the drop off, as there was no cellular service. I tried multiple times, and called U-Haul and talked with 3 different people, but no one would let me check in online. If I had been charged extra money for failing to return it on time, I would have been much more upset. There should be a better system in place for the return of trailers and trucks at this location.Colleen G.
Your check in procedure is painfully long. Your system should have the ability to retain repeat customer's information. U-Haul is the only rental vehicle company I know that requires customers to do the clerical work of a rental.ALAN FREDERICK R.

The problem is not with the location but with Uhaul. The check-in process at the site was unexpected and a real pain. To have to call someone at 8 am to have them verify who I am was unreasonable. Why did you not ask for verification when I initiated the process. I also found the cleaning fee of $25 to be a complete surprise and outrageous. It was a winter day so some salt got on the van that would take 2 minutes to spray off.Steven S.

I rented a unit on 09/29/21. There was a miscommunication on the Uhaul teams end and they didn't realize they had double booked the vehicle they rented out to me. I was called multiple times inquiring about when I would be able to return the vehicle. It was rented out by noon and returned shortly before 5pm. When asked for some sort of a discount due to their mistake, that required me to return the vehicle so promptly, I was simply told no, by Bill (no last name given) and it was reiterated to me that I needed to have the vehicle returned by 5pm or I would incur a 20$ fee. I work for a fairly large corporation near this Uhaul location, whom could have benefited from the option of being able to utilize this location for renting vehicles when we have to obtain product from another location. We will not be using this location again. Also interior of the vehicle was very clean, however the outside paneling had several scratches and dings that were not reflected in the images of the rental that were provided for approval/dispute after the vehicle was rented, through the mobile link web portal. It would appear the images had not been updated since the vehicle was purchased/transferred to the rental location.Marquise F.

I returned the rented trailer after hours. I used the mobile app and followed the instructions. I was not successful. The app would not accept uploaded pics of the equipment being returned. Very frustrated, I called the 800 number. Waited 61 minutes to get return call, then call was dropped. I left the scene. The next morning I got my receipt. No added charges. Phoned the drop off dealer. Great guy. He said he rarely charges for people who do not use the mobile app for after hr returns. The dealer in New Buffalo is great. Not good marks for the uhaul app though.Brian B.

I had registered online and paid, so when I came to this place, the woman was not friendly, very nervous and informed me that all I had done was just hold a truck! That I needed to pay! I didn't even know if I could find my credit card! Now, I was the nervous wreck! I eventually found it, but I was shocked to find out that, though, the online U-HAUL had taken my credit card, It really hadn't paid for it!Annou H.

Southside Marathon in Niles, Michigan is where I actually picked up the truck and transport. The gentleman who assisted me in Niles (named Pete) was professional, personable and thorough. Very good customer service. Helped me with a lot of anxiety when my first reservation was screwed up due to the first location not having what I reserved. Bill at exit 4 storage was AMAZING but the jerk on the phone on the 1800 number that called me to confirm, offered no help whatsoever.. I didnt know that I should have recieved a 50$ reservation guarantee when she told me they did not have the truck I had reserved and offered no solution other than driving an hour farther to pick one up. So I will be waiting on someone to contact me about some sort of refund. This was a lot of stress and hassle for the owner at exit 4 storage as well. Please contact me.melissa S.
