Really unhappy with my U-Haul experience. I booked a 15’ truck, and the app instructed me to pick up the keys from Locker 3. There was no locker, and I ended up standing in the sun for about 40 minutes trying to get the issue resolved. Because of this uncertainty, I didn’t actually get the truck until 1:30 PM instead of the scheduled 12:30 PM. I was initially told that my return time would then be 7:30 PM. However, I followed the original 6-hour rental period and returned the keys before 6:30 PM, well within the original timeframe. The representative eventually told me to take a 26’ truck instead, at the same price. I had no choice but to accept it. The truck itself was very new, and I have to give credit where it’s due—the drive was excellent. However, it was a big monster of a truck, much more suitable for someone with a 3-bedroom setup than for someone moving out of a studio apartment like me. My original estimate was $45 for approximately 10 miles. I drove only 2 miles, but when checking out, the app added an additional $35 fuel charge, bringing the total to around $75. I have already raised a concern and am waiting for a call, but until this is resolved, I’m left with uncertainty about why I’m being charged this amount. The truck itself was great, but the overall experience—from the missing key locker and 40-minute delay to the unexpected fuel charge—was extremely frustrating. Very disappointed with the overall experience.
