I recently rented a 10-foot U-Haul truck for a short round trip of approximately 22 miles (35 km). While the truck completed the journey, there were two aspects of the rental that left me concerned. First, the steering wheel appeared to be physically misaligned. The left side of the wheel sat noticeably farther back than the right, making it appear crooked rather than square with the driver. This wasn't simply the steering wheel being off-centre while driving—it appeared to be a physical issue with the steering wheel or steering column. Although the truck was drivable, it didn't inspire confidence in what is arguably the vehicle's most important safety system. When I returned the truck, I mentioned my concern to the rental agent. Unfortunately, the response was simply a shrug of the shoulders, and the issue didn't appear to be taken seriously. I would have expected a report to be made or, at the very least, an assurance that the vehicle would be inspected before being rented again. My second concern was fuel consumption. The truck was supplied with a full tank and was returned with a full tank after travelling only 22 miles (35 km). It required approximately CAD $42 in gasoline to refill. That amount seems unusually high for such a short journey in a 10-foot truck and raises questions about the vehicle's condition or fuel efficiency. I appreciate that rental trucks experience heavy use, but customers should be able to trust that vehicles are safe, well maintained, and that concerns about potential mechanical issues are taken seriously. I hope U-Haul reviews both the condition of this vehicle and the customer service response so future renters have a better experience.

Customer feedback is extremely important to us. We use these reviews to guide our efforts and improve our service. Everything that follows is direct from our customers, without any filtering or editing on our part.
The key person was 30-40 min late for key transfer. Customer support was useless: you just wait in line infinitely and then you got "this is not my area", "I cannot help you" etc. I would consider other companies next time or official uhaul point if the location will be convenient.
