We have uHaul countless times over the past decade and have grown accustom to the customer services, even celebrated the effeciency usually experienced thanks to the mobile app. However, this time we were shocked when we learned that we were getting the truck from a different location, not via phone or even email as we had been alerted in the past. Instead we were smart enough to log into the app right before we left to pick up the truck, to learn that we were picking up a truck several miles away instead of .5 miles away. In the past, we always got an email or call from a customer representative. We were also shocked to find the tank almost on empty, instead of filled. We had the pleasure of starting the move process with the anxiety of getting to the nearest gas station, as quickly as possible. As a repeat customer of uHaul, we were disappointed not to experience the same efficient, communicative customer service we have experienced in the past.Marla G.

I drove 45 total miles and returned the vehicle with the appropriate amount of gas in the tank, but I was charged for 86 miles and 9.40 for fuel. This location ripped me off, possibly let someone else drive the vehicle after I returned it and charged it to my account.Robert M.

I made an error and rented mistakenly from a dealer 3 miles away instead of the dealer .5 miles down the road. The dealer near me (4905 Carolina Beach Rd., Wilmington, NC) said I couldnt rent from him even though he had a trailer available (basically change the reservation). So I traveled to the other dealer. When I got there I found the trailer had no working brake lights! This dealer instructed me to drag this trailer back to the dealer near me and swap it out! So I did so! When I went to return the trailer after my trip I went to return it back to the same dealer (the one I picked it up from which was near me). Again this dealer (owner) requested I return it back to the other dealer (here we go again!). This time I refused! I said â€œthis is your trailer! Im returning it to you! I dont have time for this runaround again! This dealer (owner) became very rude and abrasive! He even gave me a hard time when I requested he unhitch the unit! I have some back issues and requested he do it. After all, he should anyway! This is part of the rental service we pay for! Finally after unhitching it he sarcastically said â€œwow, that was hard!â€. Needless to say, I unloaded on this rude and unprofessional man! I will consider renting from a company other tgan uhaul next time! I think after this episode, they are not worthy of my business. I definitely will not go back the the dealer at 4905 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC!!MARK S.

I was very impressed with the person running this location. He was helpful and efficient. My only gripe on this experience is that i paid $60 to fill up the tank and had the tank been full when I got it it would have been half that amount. So I feel like I am out $30 because I was worried about dropping the truck off with 3/4 a tank of gas.Damian K.

Ordered 2 dozen blankets. However, not ready. Rep had me pick up old and even damp ones thrown in a small inadequately controlled storage shed. Lot far too small and very hard to enter and exit into heavy traffic with a large truck.Lacy S.

Equipment and price were great. Location was not good at all. Lacking knowledge seemingly just a fill in who acted like I was an inconvenience to him talking to friend who he put on speaker phone while I was interrupting. Also I took photo of odometer when I dropped it off and when I got my email receipt it showed he drove over 10 miles after I dropped it off.DANNY K.

A Jay, at the Location in which I picked up the car hauler from was extremely accommodating considering the following factors. First, my original reservation was made one month prior through the 4905 Carolina Beach Rd. location. On the day and evening of pick up, Lee, the branch manager stated my 2017 Toyota tundra was only rated to Pull 5000 pounds and that his person had made a mistake coordinating a rental agreement. He stated I need to get something in writing from Toyota to show evidence it was capable of pulling greater than 5000 pounds. The Toyota dealership was on the other side of town and extremely cooperative. The rating capacity for my truck was over 9800 pounds. Because there was no possible way I would make it back to the original dealer I called and spoke with Mike at the 5411 Castlehayne Rd. location. He stated he had a full-size car hauler. This location was much closer to the actual address in which I was picking up a vehicle from. When I got there, Mike, the station manager stated he had made an error and apologized, guaranteeing that he would find another car hauler as I waited. He then sent me to the location where AJ had one readily available. The AJ was not thereThomas F.
From start to finish, this was my worst experience with any rental service for which I've ever paid. I showed up at the pick-up time and date, and the individual working the office clearly had no idea what he was doing. He spent the entire time on the phone with, who I can imagine is the one who usually works there, getting walked through how to enter all the information and upload my driver's license. After fumbling through the computer system and me waiting in the office for over 30 minutes, we were finally ready to hook up the trailer to my pick-up truck and leave. he walked out with me to hook up the 6x12 trailer, and he wasn't even sure which one that was, so I had to point it out to him. From there, he attempted to hook up the trailer, and it was obvious he had never done so before. I ended up having to hook it up myself, as he stepped aside, because that trailer would have never made it off the lot if I didn't know what I was doing. Now that the trailer was finally ready and hooked up, my friend and I drove on down the road, only to get a phone call from the employee at the lot telling me that I left my driver's license in his office. What really happened was he held onto it on his side of the desk for so long and never gave it back to me. After so long, I had completely forgotten he still had it. I just instructed him to hang on to it until I could get back, as I couldn't waste any more time by turning around and getting it then. When I reached my storage unit to begin loading the trailer with all of my household belongings, I opened the trailer for the first time only to be greeted by the most unpleasant smell coming from the inside. There was dirt and grime all over the floor, and it smelled like sewage. At that point, I came very close to turning around and returning it and demanding a refund, but I knew my chances of finding another trailer at another location would be slim and eat up more of my time, so I did what I could to cover the floor of the trailer with moving blankets and plastic that I had in my storage unit, so that I could feel a little better about placing my belongings back there. When I returned to the uhaul lot to return the trailer and pick up my driver's license, the office was closed. Their hours posted say they are open until 4:00, but it was barely 3:00, and nobody was there. If the trailer were at least clean and in good, working order, I probably would have chosen not to write this review at all, but that was the most disappointing part of the entire transaction. I ended up throwing away perfectly good moving blankets, because they were covered in who knows what from the trailer floor, and I wasn't even going to waste my time trying to salvage them.ANDREW F.

Very nice individual. I had to rush unloading to make it there before closing time at 4 pm but he was willing to accept my truck. I booked a truck for pick up at 9 am. When I arrived at the location at 9:10 there where 4 other people there waiting for help. There was no one there to help customers. I chatted with customer service on haul.com, and after several attempts they finally let me know the location did not open until 10am. The uhaul website listed the hours as open at 9a, and let me book a truck for pick up at 9am. I had to wait for over an hour to pick up the truck. By the time the person showed up, there were 6 other customers there waiting. I would not use this location again, and will reconsider using uhaul after the lack of help dealing with the situation.Matt S.
