Poor customer service. At first, it looks like they don´t even know what they´re doing. They charged my credit card on hold but don´t take it off yet. I´ll have to make a call in order to open up credit in my card.

The location was fine, but our truck had a break in the fuel line. When we went to fill it up to return it, gasoline poured out all over the ground. We weren't charged for not filling the tank, but the fact that the truck was rented out in such a state is a bit alarming.

This place was really bad and the trailer didn’twork properly and the woman knew nothing about what to do. We had to go to another Uhual service center on South Marine Drive. They were much friendlier, they took off the trailer so we could load the truck. They said they would help us the next morning load our car and re attach the trailer. The next morning none of the people I had talked to before were there and the man who helped us load the car had no idea what he was doing. When we got half way and stopped for gas the straps on the front wheels had fallen off, so we had to redo them. When we got to our drop off location, the man we returned the trailer to was shocked. Apparently we were supposed to secure the car to the transfer platform with chains. Why did no one tell us this. Also he said the straps weren’t tight enough, mostly because the cranks on them weren’t working. This all means that for at least part of the trip, there was NOTHING keeping the car on the trailer platform. We are so luck it didn’t fly off the back. I asked countless times for help and got very little. I can’t believe that uhaul doesn’t have people at their locations who know how to use the equipment and are ok sending people asking for help away without showing them how to do it. Very very irresponsible!! someone could have been seriously injured had the care rolled off the platform and into traffic!!

The truck had a broken side mirror (right side - VERY important); it had been duck taped together but it wouldn't hold in position. This was very dangerous to drive with. The back of the truck was not clean. Blankets had been requested but had not been placed in the truck. In fact, I had to carry them to the truck & then back into the store when I returned the truck. Very poor customer service.

Truck cab was dirty inside and outside, windshield was filthy inside. The store front was not a U-haul facility, it was cramped and un businesslike. Really not what I would think U-haul would want to represent it's company. On the good side the truck ran well.

Your website should be Canadian friendly, aka when you say .89km not be 1.43 Also, when you reserve a truck in a specific location, you should not call them and them them its not available and must go to another location that cannot extend reservation.

The service of the cashier's was fine. The bad. The pay machine which listed various add-ons and charges was painfully slow. I requested a dolly for my move to aid in lifting large furniture but they said they didn't have any at that location. You have to walk or drive a block away to pickup the truck and also park it when finished.

I had reserved the truck at 9am, but the night before they called me and told me that they had a bunch of people all scheduled at that time, and that the line would be incredibly long. They scheduled me for 945am instead, and even then, I still had to wait nearly 20 minutes for my van. Also, this place is also a convenience store, so whenever another customer would come up with a purchase, they would stop helping me and ring up the other customer. So between that, the mobile app not working, and their credit card machine being flaky, I didn't get my van until nearly 1030. They also didn't give me an additional hour to make up for they hour I lost, and when I was an hour late, I was charged $50 and had made another Uhaul customer wait an hour. The whole experience was stressful and expensive.

It took 30 minutes for the girl to finalize my rental. Kept calling someone to ask questions and taking other customers ahead of me. It was frustrating at probably won't ever rent from uhaul again.

When you pickup your vehicle there is no opportunity to check it over before you take it because it’s parked a 10 min walk away.... then when you drop it off you need to park it in front of the convenient store for them to check it over, then drive it to its parking spot and then walk back to hand in the keys. It’s hands down the worst U-Haul experience I’ve ever had. I will never use this location again.

This location is not good for pickup and drop off . To pickup the Van, its about 1/4 mile + from the store location plus when u return the Van . One has to Bring the van to the store. for them to check the Veichle, then they want u to go park the van 1/4 mile plus and then return back the same distance to return the keys and the go to pick my own Veichle which could be 1/ 4 mile plus. I would never ever recommend any one to go to this location. MY VERY HONEST OPINION. THANKS vinegar

Express News was acceptable, albeit not recommended. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Half of the stalls are reserved for neighbouring businesses, labelled by crude hand made signs, and the spaces available for the Uhaul returns are barely large enough to fit the cargo vans. No criticism on the staff, they were great. But the location leaves much to be desired.

It would be nice if the pick up to the truck was closer you have to go to the store and then drive to the truck then on the way back get it inspected and them drove .4 miles back to pick to return the truck in the parking area then drive back tilt eh store a bit of a hassle

This is a really bad company. I rented a truck (2 bedroom) near my place and when I went to pick it up, the truck was not there even though I had received an email confirmation. So, I paid the bus + the train to pick up the truck super far from my place. Also when I was there to pick it up, the cashier didn't speak very good English and didn't apologize about the inconvenience. I lost 2 hours of my day! This is really poor customer service! I really advise any future customers to never use u-haul. I decided to never use this company anymore. The personal was very rude.

The uhaul hot line is terrible. They booked the wrong time for me. Best thing is this location is very helpful, managed to make my movement and solved lots of problem. Will refer to my friend for sure.

Extremely dissatisfied with this location. Signage for location is on a letter size piece of paper posted outside the door on a sandwich board. After driving up and down the block and being 15 minutes late, paying all the late fees, extra mileage and gas, had to drive the truck 3 blocks away to park it then walk back to drop off the keys, something the staff should be doing. Will never rent from uhaul again will choose any other company.

My reservation was moved to a different spot, not where I reserved. The lady at the shop pre-authorized my credit card 6 times freezing my credit card. She did not speak English and had no idea what she was doing.

Dashboard was very dusty and smell was unbearable. I had to keep spraying air freshener all the time. Seat had spill marks and gas was 3/8 which suppose to be full tank. Was not convenient at all because I wasn't sure how much I'll be driving. From I'll definitely go to Uhaul location instead of this small vendors or other company according to my covenience

Make sure they fix the system so they aren't trying to make me agree to paying 79 cents a KM instead of 49 for the cargo van. Sat around for over an hour trying to figure out another payment method, until suddenly they fixed it....

This was the dirtiest vehicle I have ever rented, thick dust covered the dash board and dust was on the instrument panel and all the switches. There was spilled pop or something on the mats, on both the driver and passenger side. Externally it was dirty and the windshield was really dirty. I stopped to wash it at a gas station. Something had spilled in the moving compartment, it smelled like rancid milk in there. Over all, it does not appear that any effort is made to clean or maintain the vehicle

The whole booking process is very frustrating. No advisement that weekend rates are almost double. No ability to book multiple days. No straps or blankets as in previous years. Uhaul has essentially downloaded its Operation to variety store clerks and the service and communication is terrible. The people themselves are nice but this is not there core business and it shows. This is my second bad experience in a row with this model.

It took Us almost 1 hour to get the uhaul paperwork Done because the agent did not know how to use your uhaul payment process asked us the to use a debit card instead our credit card of choice and it was not till I told them to call the help Line she called someone to find out how to process our card. I was not impressed since we arrived in good time and had people waiting at the apartment to load and everyone was was waiting

The original location I needed to be picked up changed the night before. When I picked up the van was blocks away from the store and it was dirty. I ordered a dolly and they did not have one which was not good. When I returned it there was a minor coffee spill and I asked for some toilet paper to clean it up and they would not let me get some from their washroom. It was frustrating and a bad customer expereience.

The staff were friendly and knew what they were doing. The U-Haul app they were using seemed to work well. Only small issue I have is having to find parking for the truck a 5 min walk away. This location was not my first choice (my first choice would of been walking distance to my house - I had to drive 15 min to get to this location).

This convenience stores sells drug paraphernalia including marijuana papers, bongs, pipes. Inappropriate for families. Also the vehicles are 2-3 city blocks away from store. Is this the image that U-Haul wants to convey?

No sign indicating where the pick up and drop off location was. Computer system was not functioning.Said I could pick a cargo van up online at 8 am, but store did not open till 930. Got overcharged $36.58. Said i couldnt be reimbursed the money they over charged me because their computer system was down. I will never use this location again. Horrible experience.

We booked for the North Van location. We were not told we had to go all the way to Burnaby because the truck we booked went down for maintenance. We were late picking up the truck because of this and started our moving day plans day in addition to all of this. We had to now pay extra for gas and milage which is not fair. Will not be using again. Ever!

We reserved the truck from 9 - 1pm, along with a dolly. When we arrived we were told that someone needed the truck right at 1 and were asked to be prompt in returning it (no problem), and that there were no dollys for us (not ideal). At 12:45 I started getting calls and texts from the location asking us to bring back the truck because the next customers were there early. That doesn't make sense since we had it rented until 1. We were also not told what the return procedure was, so we parked the van back where we got it as opposed to outside for inspection. I ended up having to run back to the truck to take a picture of the odometer and gas gauge. All in all a poor experience.

I drove the uhaul truck for 9 miles and fill up $6 of gas in return. The store clerk, which is a girl who ran the convenient store by herself and didn't have a good command of English told me that the gas was't at the 1/4 line and requested me to refill it to the line. I argue with her that the gas level was already below the line when I took it but she insisted to use the oil gauge mark on rental document as a reference instead of the actual KM driven and receipt from the gas station. I spent an hour there as she has to serve other store customers while dealing with this issue. At the end, I have to make another trip to a gas station to fill up $3 of gas to make the gauge appears at the same level as seen in the paper. $9 for 9 miles trip. I basically fill up what the previous renter has left short for free. An absolute waste of my time and the worst car rental experience in my life.

I have recieved 11 contracts from uhaul for a single rental. Also, when I picked up the truck, i had to sign off and agree on it's cleanliness, mileage, and fuel level before getting the keys. I was forced to sign off on things uhaul prevented me from seeing.

Change your sign in screen at the pick-up location to state $0.49/km per what I signed up for, instead of $0.79/km. Actual charge was correct at $0.49/km. If it is $0.79 per MILE; say so. But if you can program for Can$, you should be able to program the screen to say $0.49/km. That was stupidly stressful.

As others reviewers have mentioned, this location is a convenient store. The trucks are stored off site. This is a minor inconvenience as they have one parking spot for uhaul trucks in front of the store, but you can't easily leave your own vehicle at the location while renting the truck. The worst thing about my booking is that the worker at the store didnt speak English fluently. I dont know if she intended to be rude or because she didn't know the language, but when I asked her a question about my pick up time she replied with "you ask questions, bye bye bye" then hung up on me. Other things that went wrong: - they did not have a dolly even though I reserved one online - no inspection done when we picked up the truck - gas tank only half full at pick up - truck is obviously old and not maintained well. Tons of dings, and engine sounded rough - Day I was supposed to pick up the truck I called around 5pm to confirm pick up time at 8:30pm and the same lady answered and told me they might have to cancel the reservation because the truck has not been returned by the previous renter and she will let me know at 7pm. I booked a truck with another location as a back up and then called the main uhaul centre to complain. I was then told the truck was reserved by the previous renter until 7pm. So what I dont get is why the first lady didn't just say that instead of telling me they might have to cancel? - we had to return the truck at a different location but before that we had to bring it back to the convenient store parking lot for an inspection - the guy who inspected the truck came back out with a broom and told us the truck was dirty so we have to clean it. When I went back to look, the only dirt i saw were bits of carpet from the previous renter.

The trucks are kept a couple of blocks away from the rental office so when I returned the truck, picked up my car and drove back to the office to finish up I was told I had to go bring the trick back to the office then after he checked the odometer and fuel then I had to drive the truck back pick up my car and go back to the office again to return the key and complete the paperwork. What a rigamarole.
