BEWARE OF GAS TANK ISSUES WITH U-HAUL TRUCKS - PICK UP ONLY FROM PROPER U-HAUL FRANCHISE LOCATIONS When I showed up to pick up my truck, the guy in the guitar shop told me to beware of the trucks there because they're vandalized all the time, often to steal gas out of the tank. But I had friends coming soon to help me load the truck, so I didn't have time to change my reservation to pick up from another location. There were four key boxes with coded padlocks on them on the outside of the building, presumably with keys waiting to be picked up. I went through the pickup flow in the U-Haul app (which took 20 minutes, longer than seemed necessary), expecting it to give me a padlock code at the end. But it gave me the ID of my truck and told me to go inside and show the guitar guy my screen and get the key from him. The same thing happened to another customer who was picking up her truck at the same time, and she called U-Haul and was told the code to the padlock and found her key. I showed the guitar guy my screen, and he said he didn't know how to help, because he didn't have the codes to the lock boxes, and the keys were supposed to be in them. So I called U-Haul and got someone who told me the codes to all four key boxes, but they were all empty. It ultimately turned out that the guitar guy had taken a couple of keys inside, including mine, because he was worried the trucks had been vandalized. So he gave me my key and we went and verified that the truck started and showed 1/4 tank of gas as expected, and off I went. This all took about an hour total. As I was driving the truck home so I could pack it, the gas gauge suddenly lowered way down and showed 8 miles left. I figured someone had come and siphoned gas out like the guy had warned about, and I didn't see any gas spilling out under the truck so I thought everything was OK as long as I got gas quickly. After I got the truck loaded and got on the road, I stopped at the first gas station I saw to fill up. As I was filling up, I heard liquid splashing, and looked under the truck to see gas cascading out! There was a hole in the tank, 3/4 of the way up the side. I called U-Haul roadside service and they dispatched someone to come and patch it. They showed up an hour later and took about 30 minutes to patch the hole. They said this was really common - it was their sixth U-Haul gas tank patch in the last two days! I can't help but consider U-Haul negligent in not dealing with the issue of gas theft and vandalism. They need to have some sort of process to mitigate this - change the pickup process to inspect the tank, secure the trucks somehow, etc. Their support staff that I called through the whole process were really helpful, but the issue of vandalism shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Uhaul website showed the location was open at 8am. This is not the case, and I had to wait an hour to pick up the unit. Your online folks tried to work with me to do a keylock, but the app was not working properly. Even if the app and online was working there was no key in the lockbox. The gentleman at the pickup location that checked me out was very helpful.
Troy ESoon after leaving the check engine light came on and it gave us issues the whole trip and it prolonged the time it should’ve taken and when trying to reach a person to help we had no service and once we did we basically were asked to check the codes if possible to see what the issue was and I’m sorry but I’m not a mechanic for a reason but luckily for me I have a beyond normal understanding of the fundamentals of a motor and was able to get us to our destination eventually and that’s just the beginning!!!!!!!
Jay MAny company should be proud to have the employees that work for you in Spokane. To the last person that helped us we found the employees to be extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the self moving trucking company. Thank-you UHAUL
ROBERT GTruck was pretty dusty and dirty. Only 3/8th of a tank when I'm used to them being full at pick up and at least swept out. Staff didn't seem to be very interested in rentals or someone that answered the phone didn't have any knowledge of uhaul rentals there and was quick to say call u haul we don't know much about it here?!?
Wendy RHad the size we needed. Vehicle was very clean, spotless cab and cargo area. Easy to rent and return.
MICHELE LLocation has a bunch of trash, potentially vagrants living near the area where trucks are backed in. The main thing that was frustrating was that the truck was issued to me a centimeter above empty. When I spoke to the gentlemen issuing the truck he explained that I would be allowed to return it in the same condition. Is your company's idea to have me drive around until I hit almost E? Do you want me to siphon gas from the tank? Do you want me to try and calculate the exact amount I need to get to my destination and back to the return location? What kind of business model issues trucks on empty and doesn't at least reimburse the people renting your equipment? I'll never use your service again, additionally a bit of advice, issue your trucks full like EVERY other rental agency.....
CHRISTOPHER MCustomer service was nonexistent. The truck was on the verge of breaking. They didn’t have the dolly we requested. Where the truck was parked was a homeless encampment and we were told to watch for human waste and there was a whole bunch of broken glass. We returned the truck after only a few hours and driving it for 5 miles and the dude didn’t even look at anything and told us to put the key in the Dropbox. Then we got a call the following Monday from U-Haul saying we didn’t return the truck and wanted to know how we would like to pay for the extension of service. I have rented from U-Haul before at a different location and never had these problems. We will definitely be renting a box truck from Home Depot next time we need to move something big. Zero stars, 0/10, do not recommend.
SARAH HMake sure requested equipment is actually in the truck. We never got the moving blankets we ordered.
