The man who runs the store is rude and impossible. Twice I have rented from this U-Haul and reserved. Twice I have arrived to be told I was late and he had rented out the vehicle. What is the point of reserving? Then after arriving and him be rude to us he mysteriously finds a van. I will never rent from there again and I spread the word around the communities. One of the benefits of working with the public we can spread the word about his terrible business practice.

Do not use Sooke Lane location.
Mark CGet a new person to run your business , both times i have dealt with him he has been late , his store stinks very badly of mold and is dirty , he is rude and very hard to deal with
MATTHEW KRan good was clean
Dean WThe store itself smells like pee when you walk in, like strongly. And the shop owner marks up prices on the boxes and moving supplies etc. I had ordered a TV box with my truck to pick up both at the Queens Ave location, I got a text from uhaul telling me that I have to pick up the truck at the Goldstream location instead but they did not inform me that I wouldn't also be picking up my box there so when I went to get the truck I told the shop owner I paid for a TV box too. He didn't see anything about it and looked further into my order, could see I paid for one but at the Queens ave location which he had just told me didn't have anything (my roommate also told me that because she went there yesterday for her uhaul). Since I could see he had a ton of boxes I asked why he couldn't just give me the box I paid for from his stock, he kept telling me I had to cancel my order on the app, I'd be refunded for it and just buy one from him. Not wanting to argue about it anymore I did what he said, only to figure out at the end when I went to pay for the box that he charged me $50 instead of the $35 it is advertised for on the app and what I originally paid. He also did not give us a padlock for the truck, knowing we were driving across provinces to Alberta, we ended up buying our own. There was no proof of registration in the truck and the headlights/high beams are pretty much useless.
Shelby AGold stream drop off has been excellent at all times
Addie JAlways a pleasure renting from this location. Thanks
Christopher GSanmeet And Nikhil is very excellent services
JAKRA BI was for a one way. All the way to Kelowna. Windshield and mirrors were dirty. Floor mats dirty. Coffee stains all down doors. I asked if oil and washer fluid was checked and he said no. Took me 20 minutes to take delivery. Not noted on agreement
Sandra GThe location should improve more on Maintenance of their truck.
NWAWUKU EU haul rep did as little as possible . Had to drive through lots of rain, and the u haul leaked in water, compromised some items
Jeffrey VCSR was argumentative and dismissive. Vehicle engine light came on 20 miles after pickup . Wipers did not clear windshield properly. Exhaust leaking into cab so you have to leave a window open. No instruction on controls ie windshield wipers , mirrors or headlights.
RANDALL SExpensive and unfriendly
LOVE SOwner didn’t show up till after opening time, 9:00am, then spent 20 minutes getting organized to open. Only one person, likely owner, available to serve clients which included patrons of general store.
Allen JClean the cab before giving out - and make sure the gas is recorded accurately.
Timothy UThe check engine light was on, but there was no problems so all good.
CHRISTINE FAlways kind and attentive to me but when they’re busy they tend to not acknowledge people waiting. This is not just here, this has been noticed at other locations as well. People are more understanding of having to,wait when they are at least acknowledged. Good old fashioned manners.
Janetta HHad to drive to another location to pick up blankets that were reserved but not there.
George HA few more UHaul specific instructions would help. Easy return but at the same time if you were new to Victoria you'd have no clue as to where to park, how to return, etc... none of that info was given to me when I picked up the one way truck in Nanaimo. All I knew was the location of the drop off and the operation times. Nothing else. I'm just saying you need to expect that people are new to the city and need a bit of guidance to help speed up their day.
HRVOJE KThere was a major leak in the roof that water damage to several of our boxes. Staff was very apologetic and gave a discount on mileage.
GREGORY BPublicize charge per kilometer price much better, warning customers!
DAVID LThe fellow the first day of pick up was the WORST retail experience ever…. The fellow who I drop the truck off too, was amazing! But the first fella was a complete angry little FUCK
MARCEL HI went to drop it off. The owner refused to take it and after 15 minutes told me to take it to a different location. I had to call customer service, sit on hold for 20 minutes to eventually be told I could leave it. I had to use my fuel and I was late for work due to this. Completely unacceptable to have this response, as I had a contract signed. I understand the owners frustration but this lack of communication is not on the person dropping it off.
BENJAMIN STruck engine fault light was on. Some blankets were wet.
DEREK HI was charged $109 but my receipt showed the service costs $38.75 (tax inclusive). This was outrageous considering I put extra gas well above the 1/4 gauge.
CHINEDU AThey were kind about parking my vehicle and also flexible on returning it a few min late. Would absolutely recommend them, Jim & his wife are such a lovely couple!
JENNIFER AThe App is a pain. Taking all those photos. Plus they ask for a photo of the roof! Really? We do have the option to skip but honestly, the system is aggravating.
JOELLE BEmployee was great to deal with Debit machine was down so I had to find an atm to take out money to pay. Did not like the fact that this location was the only one to have a tow dolly on the lower island and it could not be picked up or dropped off at a different location. Had to tow my car from Crofton to Duncan and ended up spending 4 hours of travel time just to get and return the dolly. Location said he wanted one to go to Duncan since he had to much equipment (including 2 tow Dolly’s) but it had to be returned to this location.
ZACKARY DExtremely tight and difficult maneuvering to pick up trailer. Operators were helpful to hitch up. They are quite limited for space. A food truck was partially blocking access to an already tight space.
ZLATKO NThe truck could have been cleaner on the inside. We wanted to pay cash and couldn't. Our credit card was automatically charged. You have to have a smart phone to rent a truck - I didn't have service on my smart phone so I had to borrow one. The customer has to do most of the work when renting (all the pics to upload and questions). You should have employees do this. If you have customers who are not very smart phone savvy this would be a problem.
CATHERINE MEasy pickup. Truck was as expected, clean and in working order. No issues whatsoever with the check in, checkout and usage. Would recommend.
JEFFREY LVery difficult to park. Needs more parking space. This is a convenience store and was busy with other customers.
HELEN KLocation coexists with a store. There was only one person to serve both rental customers and store customers. The check in process Was repeatedly interrupted by having to serve store customers. In addition, there was a problem with the trailer lights that took additional time to resolve. The checkin process took more than half an hour.
ALAN SThe highway we were to travel on was closed. We brought the truck back after 40 mins and asked to rebook for Monday. He charged us $127. I've used this location many times, NEVER AGAIN!!! I will dispute the charge and be writing a great review on google.
BRADY LI am a class one driver so I do think that this unit needed a little bit of work ....sounded like bearing wheel bearing or possibly break issues on the passenger side. Plus this is also an older vehicle but I think it just needs a bit more of a work maintenance schedule. It wasn't steering well also
ROBERT WMore cowbell
KRISTOPHER CAnnie and her team are very helpful. Very professional. Thank you!
YU WStaff were very friendly and helpful!
HALLE PWork on brakes..noisy!
Patricia MWe followed all the company's requirements, as a result they charged us more money and we had to pay more. Terrible service.
Marat GThe staff member was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Provided great guidance and information
MANMOHAN MKind service
Laara YOur utility dollies were not included in our order at all. We placed the order for the truck for a location near us but were told last minute that it would be at a different location that was more challenging for us to get to. Nothing we ordered (dollies, furniture pads) were in the truck when we arrived so we had to wait for the shop keeper to open his shop. Not to mention, the furniture pads that were provided were damp and smelly so unusable. This delayed our whole moving day (further because we had to then travel an extra 20 minutes back to our apartment) and we ended up missing our pre-booked ferry to the mainland. Overall very very disappointed make sure to not rely on anything promised from UHaul when you move.
Hana WOvercharged, attendant was condescending, fabricated time that we returned the vehicle, cube truck was filthy, do not recommend this location
DEVIN DThis was the second location i had to go to to get a trailer that didnt have issues with bad tires on the trailer!! The first location on Yates in Victoria tried to give me a trailer that was unsafe with deformed bald tires!! Could cause serious injury if it had issues at highway speeds!
KEVIN KAmazing family runned business. Super nice people and they would go above to make it easy. Thank you
AMIR SExceptional customer service and professionalism. Doesn’t get better.
Robina RTransmission seemed a little rough but it got the job done for a reasonable price.
LISA MMostly everything was good. I inquired about the tire pressures and had they been checked. The location didn't even have a pressure gauge on site. Before I loaded the trailer I checked the pressures myself and found all tires to be low with one in particular down to about half the recommended pressure.
DAVID SThis gentleman was accommodating. It was difficult to find the location and be able to park a 20 foot truck.
Angela SThe attendant was as helpful as he could be but was swamped. Limited space on the lot meant he had to move trailers etc around. And the fact he was running the store at the same time meant he was constantly interrupted. As a customer experience it was pretty disjointed, but I recognize it was an unusually busy time/day/week. I felt badly that Uhaul put this young kid in charge of such a busy operation. I hope Uhaul is looking for a better arrangement, starting with a location that has more space.
JOHN BWas told i was over paying and then 3 weeks later an additional $90 was taken out of my account which i did not approve. A late few and fuel that i put in already added to the bill. I will never deal with uhaul again and i will tell all not to either
SCOTT GI reserved a truck and dolly a month in advance, but on moving day, neither was available. I was only offered a small van, which didn’t meet my needs. The dolly was also missing. I had to accept it because I’d already booked helpers. This location clearly overbooks and leaves customers with no real options. Very frustrating experience. U-Haul should address this issue at this branch.
SHAYA FVery busy and their machine froze like 6 times while processing my payment.
