I had an excellent experience renting a U-Haul from this location! The owner was incredibly accommodating, even arranging for me to pick up the U-Haul on a Sunday when they were closed. He was friendly, responsive, and always answered my calls, providing top-notch customer service. I’ll definitely be renting future U-Hauls here. Highly recommend!

The owner answered his phone on off hours, went out of his way to be sure I could get the truck on a holiday. To be fair--the lot is small and he has to juggle vehicles so you can drive off the lot, but he is very responsive and helpful. Exceptional customer service at this site. The problem I had was the lack of 20 foot trucks--I was upgraded to a 26 foot which was a rough ride, much more expensive to drive and difficult to maneuver in and out of gas stations and parking lots. I will not agree to this kind of upgrade again.

Cabin was full of what looked like dog fur. Sliding passenger door stuck and was difficult to open the few times I used it. I appreciate the availability and outside of normal business hours access. I didn't understand the return process and returned the keys before fully completing the app return but all went well.

Terrible customer service. The man working there did not acknowledge me or even care about my timeline. I rented and confirmed a 15’ U-Haul which I found out the day before my pickup was not available and the man’s first suggestion was to take a smaller 10’ truck or cancel my order and look somewhere else. I had a confirmed pickup of 9am but he said he wasn’t available until 10am. I called promptly at 10am on my pickup date and he said he was in another town and would be there in “10 minute” I ended up waiting for over an hour for him to arrive. When he arrived it was still the same “ I don’t care” attitude. Zero customer service skills, zero accountability and zero empathy for having made me wait 2+ hours after my confirmed pickup time if 9am. I expressed my frustration and got the same “if you don’t like it go somewhere else” answer. I finally received the vehicle which was not cleaned or washed and full of bugs from the road. I am never one to write such negative reviews but this place deserves every word. Absolute garbage location and staff. NEVER AGAIN.

The equipment was fantastic, and was in really good condition. I had no issues with operating the equipment, and was surprised by the cleanliness of the vehicle as well. The only issue I had was the actual location itself, the owner was late opening up shop. So for appointments earlier in the day, I'd recommend calling the location number to confirm with the shopkeeper whether it's open.

Don’t change the appointment half or so before pick up time . I walk in to the store on Hollister AVE in Santa Barbara and ask for truck to rent they said they have one . So l reserved for 11:00am. About half hours before my appointment they did call me and told my truck is not available any more although I setup my schedule for that day 04/06/2024. Last minute changing mix-up all my plan on that day So I don’t think it’s good idea to do to your customer Please be more organized Thank Mohammad Hanachi

U-Haul manager was not present, the key was not in the place he said it was, (supposedly under the front tire which meant digging into the ground?) Then a man who didn’t speak and didn’t introduce himself walked up holding the key. Overall the manager did not explain things very clearly and did not have patience when I was asking questions, misunderstood my question, insulted me and hung up on me.

Was supposed to pick up in camarillo two days before told trailer wasn't available at that location had to drive 56 miles to golita then had to wait 45 minutes for the person to show up who checks out the equipment. For the ridiculous amount I was charged I'm never using haul again

Made and confirmed online reservation on Wednesday for trailer from U-Haul of Santa Barbara on Hollister Street. Upon arrival Thursday, I was told trailer was not available as promised . U-Haul rep was kind enough to contact Goleta Motors to fulfill trailer request. A bit inconvenient to arrive at the promised equipment location, only to be redirected to another location, because the equipment wasn't really there . Reservation system should identify/locate inventory and then direct the client to the appropriate location to retrieve the equipment . Most particularly when client address indicates they are from out of town and may not even know the area.

I didn’t see any instructions on how to get keys. My pick up time was 10:30 but we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to help us with getting the keys.

It stated that there was someone at the counter for check out and I arrived at 10:45am and no one was there, I had to download the app and wasted time. Same with drop off, I knocked and no one was there and then half way into the mobile return the worker comes out and asks me for the keys. And I asked for receipt and he told me to complete the app. Super frustrating.

The van that I rented reeked of cigarette smoke. THE SPEEDOMETER was BROKEN and the gas tank was empty! I had to fill the tank up before I could even use it and then I was only reimbursed $7 from my charge to use the vehicle!!! The worst experience I have ever had with U-Haul! I need to speak with someone at U-Haul!

U Haul from Hell. I was told the only uhaul pickup location was 80 miles (40 miles one way) in the opposite direction. After dispatch said my equipment would be ready upon arrival, I arrived at the 1st location. No equipment. I waited an hour then was told another location had a trailer. Upon arrival. Noone there. waited another hour. The customer service reps were friendly enough. No gripes with them. However, I lost a day just trying to pickup equipment. :( A day later I get on the road, with my truck loaded on the trailer in tow behind my 20' moving van. Hours into the move thank God we stopped and noticed a horrendous noise coming from the trailer wheels. We found the nearest Uhaul to report the problem and waited an hour for a specialist to examine the trailer. The brakes were red hot. NO Brake fluid in brake assist reservoir! Bone dry...seriously?! We had to unload and reload the truck onto another trailer and after a few more hours we were back on the road. I was so thankful my brother & son were caravaning and noticed the problem or I might have lost my truck and trailer! An equipment report was said to filed but I've not heard back about any of these issues nor have I received a final total of my rental charges. With all the issues I experienced, a Pod rental is probably the way to go...next time.

The APP was terrible. Not only was it extremely slow (even with good reception), but no matter what I tried, I could not get it to accept the photo of the back of my driver's license. It was very time consuming (on a very busy day!) and very frustrating. Fortunately, the location owner was available to help, but he had a long line of people to deal with as well. I will tell anyone to avoid attempting the rental through the app. Unless that was a one-time glitch, there is no excuse to put your customers through that. Your intention to put more rentals out there, and with a self-checkout, is great, but it's not working consistently.

Kelly the u haul agent was very polite and kind. He was easy to talk to. The vehicle I rented was clean and we'll kept. I enjoyed driving it to a point that it was so comfortable I wanted to keep it longer.
