The place was clean, hardly inviting. The General Manager, Barbra Kelly was about as unpleasant as any Customer Service person I have ever encountered. Barely made eye contact, rude and dismissive. I had some very good boxes bought from UHaul I wanted to leave there, so someone else could use them. I have rented storage units there in the past and they used to take boxes just for that purpose. And another UHaul Store that I had bought the boxes at had a bin with used boxes specifically for the purpose of giving away. My thinking this was a regular policy of UHaul. Not this store. In a snotty tone she said if I left them there would be a cleaning charge. A simple no thank you we do not would have sufficed and I would have taken them. After paying over 800 dollars for my rental, I was charged 12 dollars for two gallons of gas. Ms Kelly explained to me when I took the truck out it had 9/16ths of a tank. When I left Wilmington I was told to bring the truck back "half full" and I did. I was incensed. I did not have the contract on hand and did not examine it closely enough to see the tank was supposed to be brought back 9/16th full. I call BS. Certainly the GM could have waived that charge. Lastly when asking for a receipt, I was given a receipt for the gas. It would have been clear to a Stump that I was asking for a receipt for my 800 hundred dollar rental. A very difficult and unpleasant woman Ms Kelly. Her assistant on the other hand a gentleman was very pleasant. When I jokingly asked about how it was working with Ms Kelly he shrugged his shoulders like a man in a bad marriage. Frankly in my opinion Ms Kelly might want to think about working in another field where she does not have to work with the General Public. I'll tell ya, it is not doing your company having Ms Kelly working there. Hardly the face of UHaul you would want to have. Any chance of refunding my 12 bucks?
