My mother recently passed and lived in Decatur, AL. I live in Memphis, TN and needed to move some of her personal belongings back to Memphis. I placed an order on Sunday, October 26th, to pick-up a 10' truck at the following location which is approximately five minutes from where my mother lived: 2002 Beltline Rd, Decatur, AL on November 3rd at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning at 11:53 a.m., I received a text stating that my reservation had been moved to the following location: 4400 University Dr., N.W., Huntsville, AL. on November 3rd at 9:00 a.m. I called and spoke with Paul, who is the manager at the Beltline location. He said there was nothing that he could do for me and that he was sorry. I stated that U-Haul had not shown good faith in their committal, that driving to Huntsville and returning to Decatur would cost me over an hours drive time and I would hope that U-Haul would make this right. After he, again, stated that there was nothing that he could do, I asked to speak to his manager. He stated that he would contact the Scheduling Manager and that he, Paul, would call me back. After not hearing back from Paul for over two hours, I called back and got another manager who then routed me to the Scheduling Manager. The Scheduling Manager established a new pick-up at the following location: Harvell Motor Company, Inc., 12243 US-Highway 72, Athens, AL. on November 3rd at 9:00 a.m. She stated that the Athens location only had a 15' truck but U-Haul would "throw" in an additional 50 miles no-charge. From Decatur to Athens it's over 30 minutes, one way. Conclusion: I understand that customers do not always return at the agreed upon time or that U-Haul cannot sit on a truck for an entire week. That would make no sense and cut into the companies profitability. However, that said, in my opinion, Paul should have followed through like he said he would. I should not have had to call back to bring closure. I was already disappointed and the lack of a return call only added fuel to the fire. Additionally, while I appreciate the extra 50 miles, I do not consider that pennace given that I was alloted 225 miles because it's 190 miles from Decatur to Memphis. My suggestion would be to coordinate with another location to have a truck dropped off or have your personnel go pick-up the vehicle, if one is available. There are several locations in the Athens, Decatur, Hartselle and Hunsville area. You can also knock off 10% - 20% from the total cost. I think that U-Haul should give the customer the option of what they would like to do, especially, since it was not the customer's fault and you are having the customer go out of their way to pick-up a vehicle. This location is okay. Nothing really wrong with it. The only thing is when I dropped off my truck and trailer I explained to him that the AC in the truck went out. I figure he would offer some sort of discount for the inconvenience, since we moved from TN and its the middle of August, but I didnt even get a sorry. Just a, you owe 16 more dollars for going over mileage.Leigh D.

Truck was picked up at Harvell's because no one was at Thumpers Performance when pick up was scheduled. The 17' truck I reserved was not available at Curtis Motors, a 26' was the only size available so Uhaul gave me it for the same cost (No problem with the 26' other than the fuel difference...$85 to go 150 mi). Mr Harvell was very nice and helpful and as this was a last minute change, apologetic. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and professional. Thruck was a beast to drive. Any speed above 50mph the truck shook so bad the mirrors shook enough to make seeing behind difficult. Truck had good power and pulled hills better than expected on interstates 65 and 20. Rough start and ride but everything ended well.Michael D.

The office was closed when I first attempted to drop the rental off today at 2:36 PM. I returned an hour later and the office was still closed. I dropped the trailer off and called the owner and left a message to let him know the trailer had been returned. I asked for a return call confirming my message was received. I have not heard back as of now, 6:30 PM.George S.

This was not my original drop off location. I requested to have someone at my drop off location to inspect the truck instead of turning in the keys while no one was there. The day of my rental there was a change in the drop off location (a change I did not approve of and received no contact from either the drop off location or customer service.) I spent 30 mins talking with customer service to get the drop off issue resolved. At that point I still had no idea my original location was going to be closed with just a key drop box. Upon arriving at my location for drop off at the appointed time I found the location closed. I contacted customer service with my issue and they quickly found an alternate location for drop off. Had I known my first location was going to be closed (hours that the location would be closed were not posted on the uhaul website) I would have requested another location with no issues on my end. After almost another 30 minutes talking with customer service they continued to tell me I would have to pay for any additional gas to get my truck the 15 miles to the nearest open location (these trucks get about 6 mpg). At this point I had already spent over $50 on gas. I am not going to pay for additional gas for a mistake made by someone sitting in front of a computer talking to me on the phone. I will be getting a refund for unused mileage I did not request and for the extra charge for a larger truck.Jordan F.

Trip from Hell. Service was terrible. They gave me a defective tow dolly with a bent tongue and it caused me a delay of 2 days. Did not explain the video. The truck was filthy with a broken windshield and a damaged top patched with aluminum tape. The tie down straps came off twice causing me additional delays. I should receive a FULL REFUND. This is the 2nd trailer (different locations) that we have rented that the light connection works improperly. The running lights ran, but not the break lights or blinkers. The plug looked as if it had been ran over. The dealer said "that's ok, you will be driving during the day anyway". We did not have any issues, but I am concerned about the maintenance of your trailers and think they should be more properly maintained.AMY L.

we were given a location when we reserved the truck and the day that we went to pick the truck up the place for pick up had been changed from the original location. We had no idea that this had happened.
