After I went through all of the process I went to the lock box and the key was not in the lock box. Herman the owner of the garage happen to see me on Christmas night and told me that the key was under the seat in the unlocked U-Haul. The reason that the key was in an unlocked you U-Haul is because the driver side door would not unlock with the key. When I stopped at a gas station or secondary stop, I would have to crawl through from the passenger side because it was the only side that would unlock.Edward P.

This location would have been ideal for a pick-up in a car but in a 40 foot motor home is was not ideal. In addition, I was headed N on 55 and this location was south which meant, I had to go out of my way to pick up this dolly. Dispatching could have done a better job in my opinion. I reserved the dolly in advance at the original location for a reason.L A B.

I don't think it was the location's fault, but I had to drive 20 min from my reservation location to get the truck and equipment I ordered. Then the bill was $250 more than quoted. Herman's changed the bill when I pointed it out, but it did leave me feeling uneasy.Brent S.

I had a U Haul hitch installed 6 months ago at your Springfield,Il. Location on Stevenson drive used it once. When renting this time was discovered light control box was discovered to be defective was sent to Bruns Lane location where your technician installed a new kit,explained it was under warranty he said it was covered,today I received an email from them showing they charged me $129.00 for the new kit after telling me it was covered,the hitch is less then 6 months old this should be covered by U Haul please respond and explain why I am being charged for a new hitch thank you George Korda firstname.lastname@example.orgGeorge K.

I don't think this is their main business. They were very nice and helpful. I couldn't be happier with the people. But, it's out of the way, and difficult to navigate what to do when you arrive, as there is no attendant at the front desk. You have to find someone in the garage to get the process going.Samual P.

They had me back up to the trailer so they could hook up and check lights, then gave me the good to go. I had to drive 25 miles on the interstate to pick up my car. When I loaded the car the trailer tongue went straight up in the air.......he had not bothered to tighten the ball hitch connection. Imagine if the trailer had come off on the 25 mile drive on the interstate. This dirty little place sucked in all ways.Jerry L.
Location is a body shop. i had to go into a back office inside the shop area that was heavily infiltrated with sander dust and paint / lacquer / body filler fumes. The truck had two safety issues which ic did not discover until on the road. 1. The driver's side door would not close unless it was slammed extremely hard-- with the window open. 2. There was a large gouge out of the passenger side outer dual tire in the rear. The gouge was through the tread and the tread was starting to pull up from the casing. I found it after we were almost at our destination. My son could hear a tire noise and we checked it when we stopped at a rest stop.Michael M.

Check all connections. Our car carrier lights did not work. We had to travel 3 hours out of our way to have 2 separate UHaul dealers attempt to fix the problem. SInce we had limited miles, I could only get 20 extra miles added and was told "I hope they do not charge your for the extra, if you go over".Barb M.
The customer service at Bruns lane location in Springfield, IL was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I will not recommend Uhaul overall as a result of their poor attitudes and inability to treat a customer with respect!!Amanda C.

When I picked up my trailer, I blew a brake line on my Suburban. These gentlemen put aside what they were working on and pulled my vehicle in to get it fixed. They even stayed over 30 minutes past closing time to Get me fixed and on my way. They did all of this at a VERY reasonable price. They made a stressful situation easier to deal with.Daniel F.
I originally went to uhaul in Stevenson dr. In springfield. They have 3 or 4 little trailers but wouldn't rent to me because it was one way. And then I had to drive 25 minutes out of my way to get this trailer. Really disappointed on the deal and just because I was one way they wouldn't rent it to me.patrick B.
Amazingly, these proprietors have a German Shepherd attack dog right were the public walks in. It is trained to hate anyone it does not know. The dog was growling very angrily and the owner had to restrain the dog by its collar when my friend and I walked in. No one walked out to the truck with me at this location. The gas was a touch below 3/4 tank (as in 2 or so gallons) and he had it listed at 7/8 because he cannot read the gauge properly. The cup holders were grimy and there was a cigarette butt next to the driver's seat. I request to never be re-assigned to the Divernon location again when renting from the Springfield, IL area.Brian A H.

Returned Truck with same exact Gas amount one notch bellow 3/4. Dropped off truck at 3/4 which was 1 notch above what we picked it up at. We are now being charged $20.00 more than what we picked it up at. Very poor service. I am not happy.DAVID J.

I registered online for a Springfield, IL (Bruns Ln) pickup but was reassigned to the Divernon without my authorization- I guess all local trucks were previously reserved. It would be nice if the Web reservation system could allow bookings only where inventory exists to fulfill the order. That said -the Divernon staff were very helpful.RON H.

I had called and reserved this trailer the rental store in Girard on 5-6-14 to be picked up on 5-10-14. When I got to Girard to pickup this trailer they told me that it could not be rented out because of damage to it and that the lights did not work. My question to you is why didn't I get a phone call or a e-mail saying this when the store in Girard had both? The gentleman at Hermans Garage was very helpful.RUSS H.

Dave at Herman's Garage is AWESOME!!!! This is the third time I've rented a truck from him. He goes the extra mile for the customer. I will not go anywhere else. The Springfield store sucks!!!! Manager promised I could pick up a truck on Stevenson Drive. 30 minutes later I was told I had to go somewhere else. Dave will go get the truck for you; answer any driving questions you need; hookup the autotrailer and load your car if necessary. If you need to rent a truck, call Dave FIRST!!!!!!!! THANK YOU DAVE!
