The manager was very courteous and responsive in getting me a truck.
MEECHA JOn my reservation that I did online, I declined the SafeRide coverage (it was just a local move of a few items). But when the manager at the shop confirmed everything before payment, he added that coverage back on without my knowledge. I noticed this when returning the truck that evening. I disputed this with UHaul to no avail. It was only $15, but I had already declined it and shouldn't have to pay for it.
Scott MNeed to update driver wiper blade. Recommend offering a seat cushion for transit vans! The staff was excellent and went over several options to insure I had the right equipment for my task. Very pleasant experience.
CHRISTOPHER AThe original reservation was a one way from Harrisonburg, Va to N. Chesterfield. We could not confirm a truck at the Harrisonburg location, so we called in and asked to pick it up in Charlottesville. We were told "verbally" on the phone that we would have extra miles added to the rental to get from Charlottesville to Harrisonburg our original starting point. When we checked the truck in on Saturday afternoon through the app we were charged $61.61 for extra miles which makes a total "great experience" into a FAIL. No one likes to be lied to on the phone. The charge still shows "pending status",.. so I hope someone is honest enough to do the right thing and cancel it. We turned the truck in the same day we rented it. so I am sure we opened up that truck to another rental sooner than it would have been under normal circumstances. ALISON CI would suggesting having a walk around the truck with the attendant prior to leaving. The amount of time it takes to upload and look at previous damage and making sure your not missing anything cuts into your rental time.

The truck was very clean and ran great however it did have an engine light on and another light i wasn’t sure what it meant but i had no issues. so that was a little scary to see at first . But just as important, the service by the personnel is top notch especially the employee that helped me on this Saturday. She was so helpful, informative, and pleasant. I only come here when I need a rental.
CRYSTAL DI have rented several times from the U-Haul Newington location in Northern Virginia and never had a problem. This time, renting from a local franchise on Robious Road in Richmond, VA, I was told at pickup that the Regional U-Haul manager was requiring $15 accident insurance for pickup truck and cargo van rentals, which almost doubled the base-rate for the rental ($19.95 to $34.95). Questioning the last-minute mandatory charge, I was told I could go rent elsewhere by, presumably, the owner's young daughter who proceeded to tell me that this was "a locally owned, family business" and that they could rent to whomever they wanted. Getting the "Regional U-Haul manager" on the phone--or maybe it was the girl's mother or older sister--resolved the issue amicably without paying for the accident insurance, but I will think long and hard before renting from this franchise again. Oh, and the morale of the story is this: when presented with last-minute additional charges, stand your ground and refuse to be ripped off by the disrespectful, spoiled, rude, and arrogant offspring of a small business owner who obviously needs to spend less time running the family business and more time correctly raising their kids.

RACHEL STerrible customer service when picking up the truck and when returning the truck. I was treated very rudely, and the manager was extremely aggressive. I was afraid to be stuck behind a locked gate with him in a dark driveway where we could not be seen by cars going by. Avoid this location at all costs for your truck rental.

JAMES WWhat in the world is an “environmental” fee? And where does the “rental tax” go? The county? The state? I’m guessing the owner’s pocket. These junk fees tacked on at the end are total bs. Added together, they are almost as much as the rental fee. It is really false advertising and a shitty thing to do to your customers.
