This was an absolute disaster. There was no information as to where to park the van. The location's hours were marked at opening at 10am. Their voicemail to the phone number provided by U-Haul also stated a 10am opening. At 10:30am there was still nobody there. When I called U-Haul, and got disconnected trying to reach a manager, and had to call back, spending 30+ minutes on the phone, I was eventually told to leave the key in the slot. This despite me telling her the slot consisted of a mail slot metallic opening, which had cavity a few inches deep behind the opening. The key had nowhere to go in this slot. ANYBODY could lift the mail slot door and access the key. There were un-housed people around, so didn't think it was wise to just leave the key in that slot, but as I was advised by the supervisor to do so, and I was there 30 minutes after the location's supposed opening, I did so. Also, there were rats scurrying behind the building. Why the U-Haul app suggested I should drop off the van at 7am at this location, when their own information states that they only open at 10am is beyond me. My overall experience with this drop-off was atrocious, and the lack of support, service and overall customer care was deplorable.

Our main concern that's not related to locations is the fact that we were told we'd get 12 miles to the gallon of gas but we got 17 miles which means we put in a lot of extra gas. We were given a $20 (Canadian) credit but put in a lot more than that amount. Otherwise, the truck rental process was good.

The shop was supposed to open at 1 PM and that is when I was supposed to pick up my U-Haul and the person who works at the store did not open until 1:30 PM. Then there was a whole issue with the check-in of the U-Haul which further delayed the pick up until after 2 PM.

There was no parking lot, no key drop. Staff didn’t know what was going on. Would not recommend.

The uhall was parked on roadside. Then I found out the uhall with 2 parking ticket, so I had to come back to the shop to notify that. Then next time I found the back door locked with a lock and she didn't mention that. So I had to come back to get the combination key. Then I found out that its locked from opposite side (back side on front). There was not enough space to see the combination for the lock (on the front side). So to unlock it I had to use my selfi camera with tiny gap between the lock and the door to see the combination and spend around 10-15 mins to unlock. It was a bad experience for me.

They didn't know where the truck was, and when there was an issue with the rental they were not around to assist even though it was during open office hours. I would not recommend renting from this location. The truck was also really dirty, nothing crazy but would have been nice if it was swept between renters.

The store was an hour late opening. I was supposed to receive a U-Haul at 10am when they opened, nobody showed up to open the store until 11am.

Drop of and pickup directions were terrible. Was overcharged on items that weren’t even included. Dollys Matt’s etc. instructions to pickup very confusing.

After taking the pictures and moving the vehicle to the location the Attendant wanted I locked the keys in the truck. The Attendant calls the supervisor and asks what to do. They would have charged me 200 to unlock the truck. I decided to call the tow truck the next day and pay 91 dollars. When I returned the keys the next day, a different Attendant says to me, during after hours drop off they usually ask for the keys to be locked in the vehicle anyways. So either the supervisor and first Attendant wanted to make a 200 bonus commission or waste 91 dollars of mine. What is the right procedure?

There is literally no parking in the entire area save for a very limited area on one side of the street that is perpetually full. There was no space to park it close to where we recieved it and every free spot had a one hour limit.

It is very difficult to find parking in this area, and there were two parking tickets on the UHaul I rented because they just park in residential parking. I asked for a dozen blankets, but they were not in the truck, but I was still charged. I was also charge for a dolly that I did not rent. I could not see the mileage on the truck because it had a message, “SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM”. It was a little worriesome to think that the truck tires might not have been functioning properly. I was told 19.95 per day plus $1.09 per km, and then it went up to $1.75 after only ten km. That is outrageous, especially when you consider that the last 2 trucks I rented in Chemainus were only .89 per km for mileage. I have been trying to call the number that is listed on my receipt, but it is never turned on.

Did not offer 24/7 drop off and didn’t know about this until I was finished with the move. No instructions on where to park and didn’t have a lock box for the keys. Had to park the vehicle and return keys following business day (two days later) and U-Haul manager wasn’t even there! Turns out you have to park in the street (city parking) not the store parking lot. Will not be picking up or returning vehicles to this location again. Super disappointed it’s not managed properly. Only turn around was U-Haul’s customer service who helped me, and allowed me to end my rental on time on the app so wasn’t charged for additional days! If you have issues with this location call U-Haul!!!

Don’t overcharge just because you have credit card info. I was charged for almost forty more Kilometers than I used and I am still waiting to be reimbursed. Worst U-Haul experience I ever experienced.

The 24/7 truck share did not work. The representative was not there and had the employee call them at home. Took over an hour to resolve the issue and then had us give our visa numbers out loud, in a store, to two strangers. Absolutely terrible. Not to mention the truck had a leak and our items got wet while moving!

We took Uhaul on 3 hours. We gone 21 miles. We paid 109$. That’s all.

The rep asked me to come and pick up the keys a day early and then weren't available for the return and charged me for 2 extra days. They also charged me for gas even though I returned the van with more gas than I left with. I filed this case with U-Haul customer service. Disappointed
