I was charged $16 for 3 gallons of fuel despite returning the rental with MORE GAS than it had when I picked it up. This is the sort of unacceptable practice that causes me to view U-Haul as an unethical company that I should avoid doing business with. If I hadn't reviewed the receipt, I would never have known about the $16 U-Haul took from my family.
