Van was dirty and smelly. When I returned it as I found it and mentioned that it needed cleaning before next client I was charged a $25 cleaning fee! Mobile app process is lengthily and redundant. I have rented these vans 5-6 times and still have to enter my photo, and license information, this should be stored. Kept me waiting upon arrival as my reservation was being â€œvalidatedâ€. Check references the day or night before. Make sure the vehicle has all working outside lights/bulbs and no lights on the dashboard should be on. Tell people they'll get the keys when fully checked in that they're not in the truck. This was the worst experience with UHaul we've ever had! Took almost a whole hour to pick up the contactless keys. I had hired movers they left it took so long to pick up the truck.Cheryl S.

I was suppose to pickup the rental at 8am I confirmed everything the day prior. I arrived at 7:45am to be gone by 8 so I can meet my scheduled movers. I started the service via mobile and everything went well until the lock box ...completely rusted and could not open it. After 45 mins of uhaul calls a d no help the car wash open at 9am and a guy wearing no masked during a pandemic! Came to help...he fought with the lock saying wow this is rusted a lot and finally 15 mins more we pry it open. He then says good thing nobody is here today for uhaul to help. Now I'm over an hour away and an hour late! I finally get to Weymouth late a d my movers have taken off because I needed to move out of the apartment by a certain time and lost 2hrs! I'm not hit with a fee for the apartment and had to pay $50 each to movers I did not get to use. Now I'm $200 in the hole and moving on Monday. I had to put $10 in the gas for driving back and forth abd almost $80 for the truck total...I would like a refund for the rental since I did not get to move! Really sucks...Jason B.

Uhaul rep was not wearing a mask nor social distancing. Change oil light on dash message. Return procedure not explained at time of rental. Was only told to drop keys into drop box. No mention of online return procedure. Had to return to facility to share location on app and take photos of vehicle. Major pain in the ass as I had already driven home after dropping keys in drop box. Did not receive text message about return procedure until I was at home. Should be fully explained at time of pickup and return text should be sent as soon as you take possession of rentalglenn B.

When someone FINALLY came outside he said that â€œthe entire UHaul computer system was down and he couldn't help me get checked in to rent the truck. The location is basically a parking lot with a little shed but never has anyone in it. Do you have to find the one guy if he's there that runs the U-Haul part off of his cell phone. It takes at least an hour or more to pick up a rental There Twice I have showed up and they didn't have the equipment I reserved. One time I rented a 5 x 8 trailer and the guy was trying to give me a 4 x 6 and tell me it was 5 x 8. The other time I rented a 5 x 8 I arrived and there were 2 4x6 and one 6 x 12 I now have been charged extra for the 6 x 12 and an extra charge for insurance that I never OK. All of the other U-Haul places in the area are really great and I wish you could say when you reserve some thing that you didn't want to pick up at a specific locationMohamed B.
Reduce the approval time for mobile rentals. A big selling factor is to get customers in and out quickly by completing all the prerequisite actions. I did all the steps and it still took nearly an hour of valuable time to get on with moving. I cannot recommend Your mobile process. Also, the equipment was clean but I wouldn't say it was well maintained. Vehicle steering didn't feel super safe. The vehicle had 79k miles on it.Jerome B.

I was sent a text to drop of the truck at a specific location. I went during business hours and no one there could help. They told me to come back when someone was there but did not know when that someone would be there. I called customer service and they closed out the contract and told me a $20 fee would be waived. The next day I was the charged the $20 fee on my card. NEVER TRUST U-HAUL WITH ANYTHING THEY SAY, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.Paul A.
Location is only open from 9a-12p, I reserved the Uhaul for phone check-in and pickup. I arrived and was unable to check in via my phone and had to call uhaul, get transferred a few times and then was told that a person was supposed to be handing me the keys. Uhaul had to call the business owner, have him come to the location and give us our keys. It was a complete hassle, and this was all after I had originally booked a uhaul for a day later at a different location and they cancelled it on me because they had a shortage of trucks and had overbooked all of them, resulting in cancelling many customers orders. I was also told that if I could not get the truck from this location they would find me a truck at another location but I would be forced to pay the extra mileage.Jessica K.
Charging .79 per mile is outrageous when the vehicle was sitting there for the next day reservation. I was in the business for years with Ryder and no one charges .79 per mile. Granted I was early for my 10:00am pick up but the cab of the truck was filthy. The man really expected me to take such an unclean truck in the middle of Covid? I asked for another truck or to have them clean it out. They did briefly clean it but I had to spend a good hour with Lysol and windex on the cab when I got home. What really made me mad was at the last minute they changed my location pick up from right down the street to 20 minutes away in Kingston, MA and then I was given a dirty and Uncleaned truck by a man that didn't care a bit about it being dirty. He told me sometimes they just get them in and send them right out again and handed me the keys. I had to insist they get me another truck or clean it. Then once I was packing up the truck the furniture pads smelled bad and seemed uncleaned also. Something really should be said to them about cleanliness as they are located at a car wash it was really unbelievable how dirty everything was.Christina G.

You need to add a rating for "was you trunk ready" because no it was not ready. U-haul switched pick up locations with out notifying me. also the $20 charge of key return after hours is ridiculous. I returned key the night before in drop box. The truck wasn't due back till 8:30 am the next day. The way I see it, I'm early. It looks like no one is ever there at the shed. Even if there was someone there.....I still would have dropped key in the drop box.JEFFREY H.
I ordered a 15 ft truck and did it all online. I ordered for this past Saturday to be picked up at Marian Dr in Kingston. The night before I was told they did not have a 15ft. I went to the location and was told they did not have them at that location. I had to pick it up at the Kingston Car Wash. The sign on the shed says â€œRing bell on side doorâ€ There is no side door or bell. You actually have to try and get the attention of someone working at the car wash. We were supposed to be on the road a little after 9. We were not on the road until after 10. I get things happen. I just didn't appreciate it being like it was no big dealMichelle S.

I rented the uhaul from the app. I rented 2 dozen pads with my truck. I picked up my truck and it wasn't until I reached my destination (20 miles away) that I realized the truck didn't have any pads in it. I turned around to go back and get pads from the place. I assumed they would be in the back of the truck from the start, but I was wrong. So I was charge for 40 or so miles for something that wasn't my fault. I could not speak with them directly for the 24 hours before my rental, during my rental and today when I tried to call to dispute the bill. Why am I being charged for two days rental? Why was a $40 late fee charged to contract when I returned the 5x8 cargo trailer earlier than the contract return date. I emailed the return location business twice asking this very same question and got no response. Plus the rental cost was higher than the on quoted rental figure from UHaul's web site.Ranney D.
This was a HORRIBLE experience for me & my family. The original rental was keyed in completely wrong. I wantef a 24/7 so I had the flexibility of picking up when I could. It was the next town over. I got a phone call on the same night telling me that because I was a half an hour late for my reservation but I could no longer pick up the vehicle. So we had to book another location for that night but it couldn't be at the same location. Because she said the location was closed at 12 noon which it was not when I found out later. She sent us 45 minutes away from home to pick up another rental. She swore up and down because I asked 1000 times is this going to be ready is this going to be ready. She kept telling me she spoke with the person at the facility and they were waiting for me. When I got to the next facility 45 minutes away from home with my family they were closed. At this point it is 10 o'clock at night. So I had to call back set up another entire registration. This was adding so much stress because we were moving my son into his new apartment the next morning. We ended up booking the original location again for the morning. But all of that at nightAt such a late hour after working all day and all week caused so much stress! And I found out from the person who booked the correct information into the system that the original registration was for a truck that wasn't even at the location to begin with and that is why the whole thing got screwed up. After I returned the truck, UHaul charged me another $81.00. When I called to inquire why, I learned that I was charged for extra time and for insufficient fuel. The person refunded my money, but I should not have been charged in the first place. Also, the charge for insufficient fuel was for 1/16 of a tank. Neither the fuel gauge nor the diagram on the contract is capable of indicating 1/16 of a tank, leaving me to wonder whether UHaul adds expenses, including fuel expenses, considering that most consumers will either not notice the charges or not challenge then.Bruce B.
