Dropping off to this location was challenging enough with the limited space. Containers of spoiled milk and random garbage littered the outside of the premises. The representative had issues with my deposit being returned to my card and no idea how to resolve the issue. I had to call customer support and pass them over to the representative so they understood an area rep must be contacted. I also, requested if there could be a price adjustment due to the issues and the fact I returned the equipment 3 days early. When the initial rep contacted me to return to the store the next day there would be an adjustment. When I arrived to pick up the funds the new representative had a difficult time sourcing where the cash was left then informed me I was locked in a contract and would only receive my deposit. This location should receive 0 stars. I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend it.

Where to start . . . My sister phoned the Uhaul location at 707 Memorial Avenue in Thunder Bay, Ont., a week prior to our need for a medium truck and was told it would be 99 cents a kilometre. I reserved the truck after I received the information from my sister shortly after her call and when I got to the Memorial location, I was told Uhaul works with miles and that it would be $1.92 per mile (Besides the kilometres to miles change, my sister was not informed that there was lower rates for weekdays versus weekends). That’s on us for not doing our due diligence and asking more questions pertaining to your rates. When I arrived at 11 a.m. on Saturday, one of the questions I was asked was if I wanted insurance. I adamantly said no a couple of times as I told the counter worker I had personal car insurance and company insurance that would cover any incident. When I returned to drop off the truck, the insurance had still been added to my bill. I was also told before I left with the truck that I was to “fill the gas tank close to where the gas gauge line is currently at.” When I returned the truck after filling the tank close to the original line, the attendee told me I had to go back to the gas station and fill it more. I reluctantly went to the gas station and put a little more gas into the tank. I was also frustrated that the attendee asked me to open the back of the truck when I returned to check if there was any damage. Tired from moving heavy objects for six hours, I thought he would open the back of the truck as I’m the client. I asked to see an itemized bill and saw that the insurance had been tacked on. We went inside the store and I told the attendee that I did not take the insurance. He phoned the counter worker that was working in the morning when I arrived to pick up the truck and he told the attendee that I accepted the insurance, which I did not. The attendee didn’t take the insurance off the bill and gave me the number to customer service. Jasmine at customer service was sympathetic to my cause and reversed the $16 insurance charge. I know it’s only $16, but it’s the principle of the thing. Uhaul corporate might want to talk to the proprietors of this location regarding dealing with clients in a proper manner. At least three businesses are being run out of the small, cramped lower floor of the building - Uhaul among them - and with the way my experience went, I believe they are spreading themselves too thin. The truck worked great. The customer service at this location left much to be desired.

Although we had significant issues with the trailer (wiring not working, trailer not swept out, having to return the trailer for a different one after we had already loaded) the staff and area manager Andrew went above and beyond to help, repair, adjust, and make things right. Uhaul should be proud to have Andrew in their employ—his customer service is absolutely top notch. There were issues but uhaul staff did everything to rectify the situation and in the end ensured we were happy. Will rent again and again with uhaul because of their exceptional customer service.

I found the in-person check in process very slow and left me slightly worried about my identity being stolen. The young lady took a very long time to process my rental. often taking photo's of the computer screen and swapping back and forth between the computer and her phone and required me to repeat information many times. No issues with language or the like, just got the impression she was either new, inexperienced, or just not ver proficient. The uhaul app check in process was fine and normal however i noticed they had not loaded my dolly into the truck and I had to go back in and wait my turn in line before i was able to get a dolly. The lot is VERY small and jam packed with uhaul equipment, a dumpster and a 52 foot transport trailer along with normal traffic for their store so getting OUT of the lot without hitting anything was difficult and time consuming. Overall I liked the lady I dealt with but will not rent a truck from this location again just for the difficulty in leaving the lot.

Unit very dirty in can and suspension was very worn the steering wheel was shaking vigorously was not able to take on the highway.we used it to pick up our new furniture etc then a dump run and my 13 year old granddaughter in the truck and she felt unsafe in the truck and didn’t like the vibration.Our records show you that we use your business regularly including large moves across the country and never had an issue.Im an Aircraft Mechanic never seen such neglect of maintenance!!!!!!!!!!

This dealer was a good guy , the people doing the reservations were not. I booked a van and 2 days later was told it was noy available and I would have to go to a different location and get a larger truck , which did not fit in my apartment parking lot......my reservation was cancelled and I was told it didn't exist until I gave the woman the #,,,,,,,,,the guy in Thunder Bay is a good guy and he sorted out the mess , but the people on the phone lied to me and told me I was wrong,,,, I know what days I was flying in and I know what van I wanted, Also the vans were available and sat at the other location all weekend.

The poor gentlemen had a line up and he was the only one working. There is no time for him to clean windows or the vehicle when there is a line up of people waiting to pick up their rental. The agreement should be under my name a not Gilles Paquette as his not the one paying for it, he was my driver and good thing he was as I would not have been able to put gas in the vehicle as it kept pooping the gas hose off, needed two hands to hold it, The muffler was really bad made loud noise the whole trip sounds like it's going to fall off, the gear shift scary loose which adds a lot of stress worried it would break down on the way to Winnipeg. This vehicle is not properly maintained Your customers should not have to worry and have so much stress. As well the vehicle would not go any faster then 90 KM so when you get on a HWY that the speed limit is 100 or 110 other drivers get mad as they do not know that one can't go faster then 90... We had the vehicle with licence plated - AJ29217 So it was a very stressful trip I would not recommend Uhaul to anyone pay a mover. LESS STRESS

Unfortunately the online system at this site was down for some reason, resulting in nearly an hour delay amongst myself and the various other U-Haul customers, and while the employee was generally pleasant, had poor communication on the situation with customers and informing on what was occurring. Furthermore, the U-Haul reserved was not available nearly 1.5 hours after the initial scheduled time (and after having called the night before to confirm reservation). There were also no alternative U-Haul sizes available. Rather than connecting us with the Winnipeg office to see if there were other locations with available U-Hauls, simply informed that could try somewhere else in town. Eventually did receive the correct U-Haul after going around town to 2 locations, and one location contacting the Winnipeg office for assistance. Eventually someone had returned the reserved U-Haul and went back to the original location. When receiving the U-Haul, it was very dirty and grimy inside (beyond what would have been from just the previous customer). There were old cigarette butts and glass in the cab, and the back of the U-Haul had debris from trees and dirt all over.

The only downside was that there was an influx of people when I arrived and I had to wait a bit. He was great and willing to help us change our booking to a smaller truck. When I was in there, another customer raved that they were the best U-HAUL agent in Thunder Bay.

I wasn't told where to park. This location is a store separate from U-Haul and I thought I could park in the parking lot. There are no signs saying I couldn't park there. I was in the middle of my haul/move and was told to come back to move my car unless it got towed. This incurred extra mileage and gas as I had to come back to the store.

Put oil in the vehicle it was down 2 liters when I checked before taking it out. lubricate the sliding rear door. Should not be necerssary to slam the door down in order to close it. Get a bigger parking lot. fix the pot holes in the yard, it was impossible for another customer to move a small trailer to the location directed to. I had to move the trailer for them so I could get out of the lot. Need more room for the alternative buisness in the location. other patrons took up an abundance of the lot making it next to impossible to navigate within the confines of the lot. My pick up vehicle had to use an adjacent lot to park in and wait for me there. I was totally fortunate to get a spot to drop off the rental. Very nice staff, tried hard to make things work. I recommend the business should have some spare oil on site to top up as required . Truck ran well, only drove it 8 miles and there was oil on the stick. Would hate to see someone stranded because of poor maintenance by U haul.

The locations parking lot was so small the Uhauls were barely able to fit and there was no space for customer parking. When going inside the business was dirty and unkept with boxes everywhere. I had a reservation with online payment already completed but had to wait for over 20 minutes before a staff member even showed up at the counter (there were no staff in the store for the 20 minutes). My rental was dirty inside and there was garbage on the floor. The drivers sun visor was broken with the broken plastic clamp in the cupholder. There was ZERO airflow, non of the inside fans functioned at all, heat or AC. The fuel level was also below 1/4 tank. I was also notified while driving that both of my rear brake lights were not functioning. When I was then going to leave the parking lot the truck was blocked in by 3+ other Uhaul trucks. When I asked the staff how I was supposed to get out of the parking lot I was told to drive over the sidewalk approx. 100 m (illegally) and over the curb to get out. I put $100 of gasoline into the truck (so I was even able to drive and make my move since the tank was near empty) and at the time of this review have still not received any reimbursement like I was told I would by the staff in store (the tank was 3/4 full on return.

Store hours are 12-10 but the employees didn't show up till after 12 and there were several people including myself waiting. Took almost an hour to get the truck. Not happy. This place is always poor service but close to me so unfortunately I go there for my rental needs. I think from now on I'll go elsewhere.

The trailer was nothin good shape and leaked soaking the majority of our belongings that we were moving to another province. There was no jack / trailer tongue stand to be able to unhook and drop the trailer without having to unload everything which was very inconvenient.

It was a very up and down experience, first off my pickup time was changed from 2pm to 3:30 without warning, then i had to pick up dolly from a different location which i was charged to travel to. but the workers at Land of Spices were amazing, and truly went above and beyond

I drive a 1985 chevy Cheyenne truck (it is in immaculate condition) and the computer system at the rental site would not recognize it so they were not going to rent me the trailer I needed. I returned home and got my wife's car and it was fine on the system . Also it would be great if one could understand the language they were speaking because it definitely wasn't English! It was days before I received an invoice so I was not sure what they were really going to charge me, probably because I do not have a cell phone. The price was very reasonable but the paper work took forever. The people were friendly and as helpful as they could be and everything worked out.

I needed a 6x12 enclosed trailer last minute and called the dealership. The staff was quick to accommodate and I booked what I needed. Very satisfied and the price was excellent. I have considered buying my own trailer in the past but the price is so reasonable I will only rent from U-HAUL. Thank you!

The pickup and return of the uhaul were fine, but the truck itself was disgusting inside. Seats, console and cup holders were all full of dirt and were sticky and the floors were full of dirt. I mentioned it to the guy and he just laughed at me? Do they not clean the trucks when they are returned?

We have rented a u-haul many times. This was the least pleasant experience we have ever had. The parking lot size is inadequate for you to turn around your personal vehicle let along a big moving truck Most importantly- we were provided with a very dirty and smelly truck. We believe someone moved a horse in the back as it had hay and mud all inside. We physically had to take a broom and mop to the back of the truck prior to being able to put our stuff into it. The smell was atrocious and smelt like cow manure in the back and heavy cigarette smoke in the driving cabin. We spoke to the representative at the uhaul pick up place about the smell and they said the previous person was charged 50$ of a cleaning fee.. and they didn’t have time to clean it prior to us picking it up. We asked if we could have a rebate on our rental given we are the ones that had to do the cleaning for them and they declined. Said we had to chat with uhaul directly.

Rented a 4x8 trailer for a furniture move. The trailer was clean, inside and out. There were no mechanical or electrical issues at time of pickup or throughout our period of use. We will definitely rent again from U-Haul and this location if we have any need to.

The location was fine, no issue with that. Uhaul itself was the problem. I do not recommend, more specifically do not recommend using the app or online to book, especially after hours. It was problem after problem, when it could have been so simple. They even accused me of fraud after trying to book on the app (something to do with them not believing my driver's license photo was same person in the selfie...which both WERE ME).

The truck had garbage inside of it. One recipt I found was from February. The truck also had less gas then what was said. But the biggest issue is when I brought it back I was charged for all the km that where used even tho I pre paid for 250 of them. No one seams to be able to figure out why. The recipt brake downs are the worst. Hopefully a manager calles be back tomorrow.

If you're not very good at backing up a trailer, this location may be difficult for you. There's a lot of customer traffic, and they don't notice that you're trying to back up or anything. I literally had someone park behind me while I was backing up! Staff were very friendly and I had a good experience with them.

The coupler on the trailer was frozen, the attendant was not helpful and had no knowledge of how to couple the trailer. After over an hour of trying to get it to work I told him I no longer wanted it. I located a different trailer at the same location with an easier coupling system that worked however it was much smaller than what I wanted. Notice I said “l”...the attendant was basically useless. The smaller trailer should have had a safety pin to ensure the coupler remained locked, it did not and of course the attendant had no clue. I purchased my own locking pin at a nearby hardware store. Overall, a horrible customer experience. You should have knowledgeable people with good communication skills working for you. The trailers should be maintained. I asked him several times to shovel off the roof of the trailer ( there was a foot of snow on the roof). I ended up having to got do it myself…….total clown show
