One Hell of a Ride — Thanks, U-Haul. Moving over 650 miles from Indiana to the East Coast is stressful enough without having to worry about whether your rental equipment is safe to operate. I rented a 20-foot U-Haul truck and a car transporter to move across several states. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward move turned into an incredibly stressful and potentially dangerous experience. When I picked up the trailer using my Jeep, all the trailer lights were functioning properly. However, on moving day, after loading the truck and preparing for a 12-hour journey, it was discovered that the trailer’s brake lights and turn signals were not functioning when connected to the U-Haul box truck. I immediately contacted Lanning Automotive, where I rented the equipment, and explained the situation. I was told nobody was available to repair the issue and that switching trucks was my only option. Seriously? The truck was already completely loaded with our belongings, we were on a tight moving schedule, and switching trucks was simply not realistic. Were you gonna help buddy? As a CDL holder, I understand the importance of properly functioning equipment. Considering my reservation included a car transport trailer, I would have expected the truck’s trailer electrical connection to be inspected before the equipment was released. How am I supposed to know the truck’s electrical connection was faulty? Moving forward with no resolution, we were left facing a 650-plus-mile journey towing my only means of transportation without functioning trailer brake lights or turn signals. Between aggressive drivers, tailgating, constant lane changes, and heavy interstate traffic, this was an incredibly nerve-racking experience. Every lane change and every time I had to brake came with additional anxiety. Eventually making it to Maryland safely, I contacted U-Haul on Friday and spoke with Lynette, explaining the entire experience and the difficulties we encountered. She was so understanding and kind. After that mess I am very thankful she answered. Since then, I’ve received no meaningful follow-up or resolution. My biggest concern is that we paid for equipment that should have been safe, inspected, and ready for the journey we reserved it for. That is not an unreasonable expectation. I’m grateful we made it safely, but I’m extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability, customer service, and concern for our safety. Completing that journey was one hell of a ride, and unfortunately, U-Haul made an already stressful life transition significantly harder than it needed to be. I sincerely hope U-Haul takes situations like this seriously before someone else isn’t as fortunate as we were.

This location was very attentive and professional. I was originally sent to Boss Tires in Columbus to pick up my reserved truck. Upon arrival, I was told that the truck would not be available for another hour or possibly more. There evidently was a mix up with the scheduler. The guys at Boss Tire tried to remedy the situation but they simply had no more trucks. Steve at Boss Tire actually drove me to Lanning so I could get a truck on time. My sincere appreciation to the guys at Boss Tire who went out of their way to help me since they didn't have an additional 15" truck.

I would recommend this location, however the pickup process was a nightmare. The pricing I was quoted was incorrect online, I was promised a phone call from the uHaul manager within 24-72 hours, that never happened. And was told if he didn’t call the regional manager would call - also never happened. Miserable experience working with uHaul.

The rental facility finds shady ways to try and bill you for cleaning when it didn't need it to make money. Very fraudulent behavior

Cramped lot, at least for a 15 foot truck with a 16 foot trailer. Drop off was after hours, there were no personnel to be helpful.

Great customer service, made it extremely easy to extend the rental for an additional day without any issues. Rental was very clean and entire process was quick and easy , even on a holiday weekend. There were two customers ahead of me, and the wait was still less than 15 minutes. I used the online app for an after hours return and the process was simple with easy to follow instructions.

When we got ready to load our belongs there was ALOT of standing water in the back of the truck. Covering the entire floor and alot of dry mud in driverside floorboard. Other than that the truck ran great and service was great.

The truck have engine light on when picked up and didn’t drive/handle as well as the I haul trucks normally do, but all in all it was fine. I returned it during business hours with the correct amount of gas but was charged an after hours return fee, a fuel service fee, and a charge for 4 gallons of gas. I luckily had a picture showing the gas hand at 1/4 tank. I had to file a dispute with uhaul, then they only refunded the after hours fee not the fuel charges unless I had a picture (which I resubmitted for a second time). I have always had trouble free uhaul experiences but this one is a bit ridiculous. I feel like my time isn’t valued, I’m having to continue to work to prove that they’re trying to over charge me!

The $20 after hours charge is ridiculous. Renting on a Saturday and returning it within 5 hours and I am penalized because the business was closed. This is not good customer service.

There was dog hair onthe seats I it's called like dog. also, they didn’t tell me that the mileage was gonna add up so much to my bill when I originally advertises $19 and my bill total was gonna be $50 and it ended up being $143. It’s crazy. I can probably rent a truck for that day cheaper

Please double check order and make sure you put all paid equipment into uhaul rental. Ordered a dolly and didn’t receive it. Store wasn’t open so couldn’t talk to anyone and get it. Had to move an entire house without the dolly we were expecting which made the job take way longer than it should’ve and was extremely heavy. And, afterwards we were still charged for it. Other than that, the location was easy to find, the uhaul truck itself was clean and the app has easy to understand steps. Was just upset about whoever put the keys in the box for our rental did not make sure we had the dolly.
