I asked for a non-automated pickup and it was a disaster this difficult for people who are not that tech savvy to master through this it was awful what happened to real people and customer service

It let me reserve a truck at a location that I couldn’t to a self pick up
Jennifer FSite was moved while I was checking out and then again the following day. I was never told it was an online check in process and it was a huge catastrophe and nothing worked right and took almost 45 minutes making me late for everything the remainder of the day and ended up making me lose three of the people that would have been able to help me because they didn’t have time to sit around and just keep waiting. I was also suposed to pick up a bedroom set from someone on Facebook market place and they sold it to someone else because I wasn’t there and could call because I was tied up trying to deal with the online check in. It was awful and I would never do this again.
Catherine GSelf serve is convenient if you can actually self serve. Make instructions for self serve clear that you can incur issues. Maintain your trucks better. A mechanic drove this truck and called it a death trap. Looked great on the outside. Disappointed that such a large, wealthy corporation would skimp on vehicle maintenance and repairs. Where's the integrity?
Steven MGas was at 1/8 tank, with 33 miles till empty- making getting gas the first thing I had to do which was very inconvenient. Please keep the tank at least half full to start

WILLIS BThe place was congested and no parking spaces. The equipment was not in the truck. I had to go to another location in which I had wait over 45 minutes and received dirty furniture pads and a defective dolly that was rusted. The drop off location was even worse because there was no lockbox, I returned the truck the same day but since there was no lock box I waited until the location opened to give back the equipment for fear of it being stolen. The guy said there was one but there was not. This was a very poor experience. There was so much miscommunication with staff.Nothing was organized
Wendy MImprove the App so it consistently works - avoid the need to refresh, backout and start again, and go to chat for help. The App is actually intuitive it just poorly performs. The phone and reception were fine - it was the App.

John SThe truck was in bad condition and the remote check-in process is a bad idea! There is no one available to help or make sure the equipment is maintained.

roy lSeveral suggestions: Improve all your instructions and make your system less strict. Specifically, I arrived late and tried to pick up my truck. The instructions directed me to click a "pick up my truck" button that wasn't shown at this point. So I got irritated and confused. I tried again through your website, some problem. The instructions for truck pickup should mention this happens if you are late. The truck share email made me think I could pick up any time, I don't recall any indication that coming late would be a problem. Both those messages should e revised. Also your app and website should indicate why there is no "pick up my truck" button. I finally had to call support. There was no menu option that fit my problem so I had to speak to someone get redirected. The hold was long while I was stressed out because a large number of my friends were waiting for me. Please hire more support people to answer your calls. There was a cigarette butt in the door handle, but I already got rid of it before I started the process. Since I couldn't show it in a picture, I felt forced to just say the truck is clean. Having customers just take 2 pictures of the truck when they turn it in is going to let things like that through. Install backup cameras on your trucks. They've been mandatory on cars since 2018 now and they would be a huge benefit on vehicles like this. When I was ready to check the truck back in, before I started driving to the drop off location I was wondering if I needed to buy gas. I watched your video about truck drop off and I read the instructions. There was no mention of getting gas. When I got the truck it was less than half full, so I assumed the last person did not add gas. Then during the check-in process I'm told I'll be charged a fee because the fuel level is lower. I was frustrated because I specifically checked for this and it was not in your drop off instructions. I am disputing that charge.

THOMAS CThe return was not easy. The app, which you need to pick up equipment, had a bug. It kept closing Everytime I tried to upload pictures. It took over 1.5 hours to return. On hold for 30 mins didn't help. I had to move the dolly to fit items in, I didn't need it, so I hope I do not get charged. The moving company we used were AWESOME!

Thomas BThe customer service representative I spoke with was very rude to me when I explained I needed to extend my time with the truck because I lost my moving help. I ended up unloading everything back into my garage and returning the truck when I had to instead of taking it where I needed to move when my help did arrive. So I spent over $100 for nothing because you guys wouldn’t get another truck to a family that was counting on it.

Alan MAgain, the drop off went ok, but i tried to do the self drop off after hours for which I received an email telling me I could. When I got to the drop off location, which actually changed on me twice via email notification, I tried to follow the instructions but the U-Haul website refused to acknowledge my location even though all location services were on on my cell. It was extremely frustrating. Luckily, the guy who owned the business was outside leaving and helped me at the end, but he also said U-Haul's website is terrible and people have lots of trouble with the location and self drop off so he understood my frustration. So, U-Haul really should step it up, don't you think? Sheesh.

Leslie RI did not receive a final receipt after returning the truck. This is important for business customers. I am also unable to find a way to print a receipt from the app. During pickup the app froze several times and caused me to somehow bypass entering the initial mileage and fuel level. The app said I kept loosing connection even though I had good cellular coverage.
