I had rented a furniture dolly and when I picked up the truck,there was no furniture dolly in it and when I asked at the counter they said they no dolly’s available.

Dave GWhile customer service was excellent, and attendant made it easy, I feel like 19.95 a day, has a bit of trickery to it. I rented for 4 hours locally, filled it back up with gas and still cost me 243.00 . Just wow. I guess if you had better up front pricing so customers understand everything, and very itemized receipt, so customer knows completely the cost for everything including miles, not just stated on the counter. Very high priced.

DAVID JWhen I reached my destination, we unloaded the truck. The next morning, I returned the truck with it still smelling like weed. I did inform the store employee that the truck smelled like weed and why. I also informed him of the lurching that the truck did when it started from a stop. Another employee went out to check the truck, they listened to what I said about the truck lurching, as well as the weed smell. The whole experience was quick, pleasant and the staff were wonderful.

GILLETTE EI want to clarify that this review is not about the staff but about the U-Haul service itself. My experience was incredibly frustrating and disorganized. Despite confirming my reservation a day in advance, I faced significant issues with truck availability, resulting in wasted time, money, and unnecessary stress. Initially, I traveled 1.5 hours to pick up the truck, only to find that it wasn’t available at the location. While the auto transport was ready, the truck I reserved was not. The staff confirmed availability at the Springfield location, so I drove an additional 30 minutes, only to find that they did not have one-way trucks. This forced me to return to the original location to explore other options. Unfortunately, no alternatives were available. I then contacted other U-Haul locations and found a truck 30 minutes away from Locust Grove. They assured me they had both the truck and the auto transport. However, after traveling to Fredericksburg, I received a call informing me that they did not have a one-way truck either. This back-and-forth process was exhausting and incredibly inefficient. Eventually, I returned to Locust Grove, where I was fortunate to find a 10-foot truck someone had just dropped off. I took it along with the auto transport and drove to Fredericksburg. There, I finally managed to exchange the 10-foot truck for the 15-foot truck I originally needed. This entire ordeal took six hours of constant driving, waiting, and problem-solving. The gaps in communication and lack of coordination caused immense inconvenience. If the truck wasn’t available, it should have been communicated upfront. A simple call from customer service or the location could have saved me so much time and effort. Adding to my frustration, I was charged extra for the 10-foot truck drop-off, which felt unfair given that these issues were not my fault. Furthermore, the delays meant I had to reschedule the helpers I hired, and by the time I secured the truck, they were no longer available. As a result, I had to handle the entire moving and loading process alone, which was both physically and mentally exhausting. This experience was completely disheartening. It wasted my time, money, and energy, leaving me extremely dissatisfied with U-Haul’s service. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone based on this experience, as the lack of coordination and communication caused unnecessary stress during an already challenging process.

Karen KThis the second time I have rented a truck in the past two months and both times I requested equipment and did not receive it when I pickup the truck and was still charged for the missing equipment. I requested moving blankets and received none. Also we pickup the truck and a trailer was hooked up to it which we had to unhook before we could leave.

stephen mHOWEVER, I WAS ASSIGNED GORDONSVILLE, VA DROPOFF ON CONTRACT. I LATER SOUGHT TO MOVE DROPOFF TO LOCUST GROVE, BUT WAS TOLD I HAD TO TAKE TRAILER TO GORDONSVILLE. I DROVE ACROSS ORANGE COUNTY, VA, TO TAKE IT THERE TO FIND THEY DON'T TAKE TRAILERS. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH YOUR NATIONAL SCHEDULING SYSTEM!! IT COST ME IN TIME, DISTANCE, AND FRUSTRATION.
Brian ENo place to put this, so shouldn't go against this location. Drop off location that I selected was closed one week prior to my drop off. The option was available in the system but went i got to location, no bueno. Uhaul 1-800 number passed me three times eventually landing on message that said office closed at 7 (it was 7:30). I was in another state and had an 8 hour drive home. Fortunately, the former location had the area manages phone number. He was an extremely nice guy and gave me the option to drop off at Locust Grove (who typically dont have a 24 hour drop off policy). So huge thank you to him but huge thumbs down to Hertz corporate.
JOHN BHad the door open warning light on during the entire time I had the vehicle yet, the door was shut properly. Same with the low windshield washer low warning. Someone should be performing quality checks on these vehicles and not relying on customer to provide condition state upon vehicle return. Some folks just don’t care. This is an inherent responsibility of U-haul to do preventative maintenance checks of every vehicle before it leaves with a customer.
ERICJOE AThe truck was not cleaned out by the previous renters and or the shop where I picked up the truck, I had to sweep it out prior to leaving the shop. Also, we paid to have two dozen blankets with the truck, again the ones in the truck were left by the previous users, the left them laying all over the back, wet and had the tape still on them. Plus the shop didn’t have enough blankets for our order and we were short on our order.
