I was unable to complete the pick-up by phone because according to U-Haul customer service, the location did not fully complete their part of the reservation. I then had to wait an additional hour until the store opened. Once it was 9am and the store was still closed, I managed to find the personal number of the store owner who then appeared after I called him. We also did not receive our blankets we ordered so we had to spend additional time out of our 4 hour reservation to seek those out at a different U-Haul location. When we picked up the truck, the right side mirror was broken and the inside of the truck was filthy. A few hours later, we knew we weren’t going to make our original return time, so we called customer service to explain the situation/all the delays. The representative said it appears the truck was never dispatched although we had the truck for 3 hours already. I then was connected to another help line where I had to be on the phone for about 30 minutes trying to get things sorted. I believe I had to be on the phone with U-Haul customer service for a total of an hour adding up all the times I had to call due to issues. When we returned the truck, the store owners treated us as though we were some sort of annoyance. This is my first time using U-Haul and I’m incredibly disappointed. One of the reps also said we would receive compensation for the time we lost, and according to our receipt, we did not.
