The Claxton store owner was GREAT. My complaint has to do with U-Haul's processes. We made reservations in March for a May pick up in GA. We were supposed to pick up our U-Haul a tire service station in Statesboro (after flying from Maine to GA to see our daughter graduate). The service station had no idea they were supposed to rent us a truck (no their fault) even though someone from U-Haul called us the day before to confirm the size truck (which they changed) and the location. So U-Haul sent us to another location several miles down the road. That gentleman said he couldn't rent us the truck because the truck he had was only for local rentals. He was kind enough to find a truck for us in Claxton - 30 minutes drive there, and 30 minutes back. The gentleman at Claxton got us a suitable truck. None of the three of these locations had tie-downs, blankets, or boxes. All stuff I had to run to a local dollar store to find. In the end, we lost 3 hours of time that we expected to use packing, even though we had coordinated months in advance AND had been called by U-Haul the day before our pick-up to confirm location and to tell us they didn't have the size truck we wanted. We did call U-Haul and complained and they offered to refund us $50 off our bill, but we sure felt that was paltry in comparison to the aggravation. Here's the lessons: (1) Don't assume that the U-Haul pick-up site is going to have any extras like dollies, boxes, or blankets, and don't assume U-Haul will tell you that. You have to ask. (2) U-Haul's computer data base did not reflect real-time truck availability, so if you pick up your U-Haul at a location other than an orange-branded U-Haul location, it's possible (our experience) that they don't know you're coming - call ahead to the site in addition to calling U-Haul. (3) While we've only ever met nice people at U-Haul pick-up locations, there are some systemic problems with how they are doing business right now - so consider other hauling organizations as well.

This location was difficult to find. The attendant was not expecting our arrival and we had to wait for her to phone a manager to properly close our contract.
