This was not the original at which I booked my truck rental. The original location that was booked did not have a truck ready and there was nobody working. After contacting U-Haul, the reservation was switched to a new location half an hour away. There was nothing wrong with the new location or the truck, but it took over 2 hours just to pick up the truck. We were then charged an extra 6 dollars after returning the truck because we drove more that the allotted 64 miles. We drove extra milage because we needed to drive to a further location just to pick up the truck. The fact that we were still charged for the milage is ridiculous.Alexander M.

Store clerk said they had nothing to do with Uhaul, I was on my own to check out the vehicle with the mobile app. Fortunately he was willing and able to help get me the key when the online app failed after 45 min of trying.Robert F.
First off, I went online two days in advance to have 24 hour pick up at this location. I received a call at 630pm the night before from someone telling me that was no longer and option and I'd have to wait until 8am to get the uhaul. The women was not pleasant on the phone either. Then, I get to the gas station it's at, and I had to wait a long time for them to figure out how to do this whole process. Then, he tells me the engine light is on, but â€˜it shouldn't be a big deal' the truck smelled like cigarettes and It jolted every so often. I don't know any reason why I would rent a truck with the engine light on, but I didn't have time to argue so I used it. I shouldn't have, what if something happened? we rented the truck on 12/31/18. the guy at McCardy's put down it had 3/4 of a tank of gas. however, he didn't physically check it but just accepted what the printout said it had in gas. when we got in the truck before driving off, i saw it had 27,075 miles on it and had between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank of gas. i didn't want to be charged for gas i didn't use, so i took a picture of the dash showing the gas level. i took the picture into the store (McCardy's) and the guy who rented the truck said, "Oh, OK, that's fine." i put THREE (3) miles on the truck, bringing it back at 27,078 miles. i put $1.00 worth of gas in to make sure it was back to the same level (which it was) between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank. when i returned it the next day, the SAME guy who rented us the truck processed the return and went out physically to check the gas level (unlike when we rented it). he put down it had between 1/2 & 3/4 of a tank and then CHARGED ME $6.00 FOR GAS!!! to go 3 miles??!!! i squawked about this and reminded him we showed him the gas level before we left. while he said while he remembered that we showed him a picture of the gas level the day before, he said couldn't change that amount of gas that was actually in the tank on the paper. i asked him why, if that was the case, he had said, "it's fine," the day before when he was shown the picture of the amount in the tank?? if he told me it was a problem then i would've redone the rental to reflect the amount actually in the tank. this old gizzer refused to adjust the gas even though he admitted he knew we took it out with between 1/2 & 3/4 of gas in the tank. i will NEVER rent at McCardy's again and i request Uhaul to refund the $6.00 that this guy STOLE from me. If uHaul does not refund my $6.00, then i will provide my documentation to american express and ask them to credit me $6.00 against McCardy's because it is a rip-off place. you shouldn't let this guy be in your franchise. he's dishonest.rosa S.

Had 8:30 AM appointment. Facility is a gas service station ( Mabardy Oil) with uhaul as a sideline The attendant did his best but was his first day on the job and he had had no training re U haul part of the business. Resourceful, he contacted Uhaul for help all the while managing retail gasoline customers. Kudos to him. This all took over 20 minutes however and represents a failure of MANAGEMENT. It's their responsibility to have a trained person at the time of truck pickup. A+ to the attendant who acted admirably in site of management's failureRobert D.
Went to pick up, they had wrong truck, estimate tried to overcharge me not only for price I was quoted but added an additional day and insurance after I said I didn't need it, claimed it was tax that made it do high. When I dropped off the girl had to fix it, so the guy who rented to me was incompetent had the wrong truck paperwork and the poor girl at drop off had to try to sort it outdiane B.
When you rent a truck with a leaking roof someone should say something to the renter not just note it on slip that customer assumes risk for water damage. Don't charge them for things (dolly/pads) that they didn't order or use.John D.
The last two times at different locations, I've been told the tank was full and when I get in the car the gauge is on the F. But when I fill up, it goes way past the F and in much more gas than I used leaving me feeling disappointed in the uhaul product.Micheal R.

Went to pick up at reserved time. Cashier wasn't familiar with process ( 2nd day on job) and had to call at least 4 people to get help. Connections were down and couldn't process online. Then another customer came to drop off truck & she was taken care of before me, even though I was already waiting 1/2 hr before she even came in. When we finally did get someone on phone to do transaction, I asked for discount for inconvenience ( I was paying movers who were waiting at my house) and women on phone said "there's no discount just because you had to wait in line" !. I need to pay a toll fee from 8-12-18. I accidentally was in the speed pass lane. I called the Crystal Ave location and no one picked up the phone. I tried callingU-haul customer service. I waited 15 minuets and gave up. I need the license plate number to pay the toll fee.Michael G.

My card was charged the projected amount, but when I returned the truck I was given a receipt for the actual amount owed and I was charged double the amount I was supposed to be charged.Sara C.
Will not use this location for U-Haul again. Convenience Store/Gas station clerk in the morning had no clue what she was doing. She had to call dispatch and have them walk her through the rental. They also wanted 3 different contact numbers besides my own! (A total of FOUR) different phone numbers. We almost walked away from the reservation. We finally got into the U-Haul 30 minutes past our pick up time yet they still expected it back by the 4 hour time. When returning the kid working inside let me sit there and wait while he stood outside with a girl (probably his girlfriend, not another employee) until I finally said something. This kid acted like he was stoned out of his mind. I had also requested to rent a furniture Dolly and the woman in the morning told us that they don't have any of that type of equipment.Deborah K.

Was advised I could bring in U-Haul next day as I rented it just before close. I went to return U-Haul and was met by a miserable manager who told me her new employee made a mistake. She then said she was charging me fee despite fact I was advised incorrectly. She could not define few and I told her I was shutting my card down as she was not authorized to charge my card without telling me what she was charging. She then rapid fire hopped on her computer to charge my card. Using my cell phone I called and deactivated card. She called the police still unable to tell me the amount that she was charging me. She said again that her employee was new and made a mistake. I had to give a statement to the police in which I have never been involved with in my entire life, then I paid the 100 fee to get out of there. Worst scenario for U-Haul and myself ever.Denise S.
I was told that the moving blanket and furniture dolly did not arrive with the truck. When I got the truck home, these items were in the back. The attendant did not tell me where to return the truck and therefore I created confusion when I brought it back at the same location where I picked it up. They need better training.Todd S.

I rented a dolly along with the truck. When I got to the pickup location, I was told they don't have the dollies. I suggested that I shouldn't have been given the option online of renting a dolly if they didn't have dollies. They got one from a different UHaul location, but I had to wait an additional 30 minutes.Thomas B.

Only one truck at location. Attendant told us the truck was for service, I called U-haul as she had no idea how to verify or use the uhaul eqpmnt on site. Uhaul had to check me in over the phone. Process took two hours and cost me extra time with moving company. Worst Uhaul experience I ever had.John P.

I picked a location closer to my home and was told that they did not have a truck so I had drive to a different location. This location did not have moving pad. So I to drive to a different location to get the pads. All the while the location next to my home had a truck. Did a lot of driving for nothing and they wanted to charge me for the miles.Brian V.

We had to return before 9 am which we arrived 20 minutes prior and jill rhe lady working said it wasnt on her computer so she could not take it. We had to go all the way back home and call another number and they advised it was set to lowell since the CC owner lives in lowell. Nothing was ever mentioned about lowell in the reservation cconversation!! They put it back to this address and we had to drive BACK to this return address!! Very annoying and very inconvenient!! Your computer system should allow on the spot changes by anyone or the employee should have a number that THEY call, it should not go back on the customer to handle YOUR ERROR!!Jennifer G.

It was hard to locate because there was no sign that said Mabardy Oil. The company name said Monster Gas on the sign I had to call 3 times to get someone to answer the phone and then when I did they advised me that the sign would say Monster Gas not Mabardy Oil. Very confusing!Melanie D.

The person signing out the truck did not know what he was doing. It took 20 minutes or more for him to figure out how sign out the truck. He swiped my card three times and then said that it was asking for a second card for a second insurance coverage. He was reading direction on how to figure out how to use the system. He assures me my first card that he swiped three times will only be charged once and the second card will not be charged at all. You can bet I will be watching the activities on my cards.Gwen B.

Picking up the equipment was great however when I returned it I was treated like dirt by the customer service (and I use that term lightly) person Tristan who started yelling at me the second I disagreed with the charge. I was being charged for the gas I used for the 8 miles I drove the truck. I had to call customer service who called him and heard him yelling at me but did nothing about it. She did suggest I put the 1/8 tank in to avoid the charge and also told me that the charge was so high because this kid said the tank was empty when it was not. Not only will I never get another truck there I won't be going there for gas either...I have never been treated so horribly a's a customer. This "UHaul facility" was a Monster gas station with nothing indicating it was a UHaul drop off point. The second time around the block, I noticed a UHaul truck in the parking lot and thought I would give it a try as a drop off location. The representative was pleasant enough but any customer who came in while she was checking me out jumped to the front of the line.DIANE W.

When the gas gauge wasn't matching the paper I received, the attendant initialed the sheet which was a saver upon drop off because we had to prove that the gauge was incorrect or we would have been charged an extra 40 dollars.HANNAH M.

I rented from Tilton NH and the morning of my move was notified they didn't have a truck and sent me to Derry. No one cared. I had to reschedule the moving help in NH and in MA (destination)to later because it was a not further from Derry. Thankfully they movers were able to adjust. Got to Derry - the truck was not swept out in the back, was old and rickety to drive and it was not ready to go with only 1/4 tank of gas I had to put gas in too. It's much better to rent with a full tank and return with a full tank instead of trying to guess how much gas you need in order to return with 1/4 tank. We ended up returning with more than 1/4 of course (which may be UHaul's strategy of leaving it with only 1/4). This was definitely not a great experience and had a much better experience last time I rented. Due to the inconsistency and the fact I can not count on UHaul to stand by their reservation, I will probably not rent from you again when it is an important move like this one, with multiple dependencies. I also didn't go here because of some negative reviews.. I'm happy to say they were wonderful. Super friendly, had the truck we reserved in great condition and a/c worked. Easy to get in and out of location. I am recommending to family and friends.JENNIFER H.
I entered my information for a 24 hour rental. When I arrived I was told that my reservation was only for 4 hours. I called the 800 number and was told that there was nothing that they could do for me that there were no trucks available to me. The woman at the location told me that this "happens all the time". She explained that if someone has a truck reserved for the next morning, then my reservation probably was changed to just 4 hours because that is all that was available but I was not told. This totally inconvenienced me and changed all of my plans. My son was moving into a new place that was not available that evening and we had to move only the large items that night and leave them with a friend nearby and move everything else the next day when we could get keys to his new place, when we had planned to move, and had reserved the truck for. I would not use U-haul again because I can not rely on their website for reservations.Janet J.
