I recently had a frustrating experience at a U-Haul pick-up location. While the staff were friendly and tried their best to help, it was clear they weren’t very knowledgeable about the process. When I arrived to pick up my trailer, I requested a different one with a better coupler. They managed to switch it for me, but when it came to processing the new contract, they seemed lost. I ended up waiting an extra hour, which was really inconvenient. Eventually, someone arrived who knew how to do their job, but I started to worry when I noticed the chains didn’t seem to be hooked up correctly on the trailer. To make things worse, there was a real mix-up with my pick-up location. I had checked in online through the app and was confirmed at a different spot, but when I got to my chosen location, they didn’t have my trailer and didn't even have me on the schedule. I tried reaching out to customer service for help but didn't get much assistance either. It felt like the whole scheduling system was out of sync. The U-Haul dispatcher should have contacted me to confirm the changes, especially since it really mattered for my plans. Overall, this experience left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn’t want to go through it again. I hope U-Haul can improve their training and communication processes for a smoother experience in the future.
