It took over 30 minutes to finally get on the road with the U-Haul. The worker there couldn’t find the key to the truck and he had to call his boss for the code to open the external U-Haul lock box which of course had the key in it. Thankfully I arrived early to my appointment pick up time. In addition, I had to wait longer any time there was a customer in the store so the clerk could check them out first before helping me. This occurred multiple times upon pick up and drop off! When I got into the truck, the gas tank was well below the required 1/4 to start! Upon return, I dropped the U-Haul off way before the 4 hour mark and left the truck with the required 1/4 gas. Thank God I took a photo myself as proof because the photo the clerk took, and submitted, was crap and you couldn’t even see the gas gauge so the system then charged me $27.50 for gas and that negated my $9 credit that I should receive because I started with less than a 1/4 of a tank from the previous driver. Thankfully I checked the receipt immediately. I had to call the phone number 3 times and left voicemails each time to ask about this incorrect charge. The person on the phone says she can’t help and refund me and now I have to wait for her district manager to get back to me, which I’m still waiting on. I should be getting a $36.50 refund! Not happy with this experience at all. I did everything right during this whole process (arriving early for pick up, dropping the truck off early, going to the gas station and filling the tank up so it’s left with 1/4 of a tank,etc.) but yet I dealt with delays, people who don’t know how to do their job, and charged incorrectly! This was already so expensive to rent this truck and now I’m charged even more because the clerk doesn’t know how to take a photo of the gas gauge! Moving is already stressful enough, this process shouldn’t be stressful and I should be refunded immediately for the mistake.
