Put steps on the truck for older people
SANDRA BThe manager at the self storage where we picked up our U-Haul truck was not a great representative for U-Haul. He spoke negatively of U-Haul and made our experience unpleasant with his banter. This manager also tried to talk us into changing our one-way U-Haul reservation into a same day pick up and drop off, stating that he makes commission off these trucks and he was angered that this truck was leaving his lot and headed to another location. I have had several amazing experiences throughout my history of renting Uhauls, however, this guy was unlike anything I've ever seen.

JOSEPH STrouble with truck the first day when 2 sensors went off as we hit bumps on bad roads. Called it in as we were told brakes might not work properly. The problem did reset itself when truck started again. Heater would not defrost windshield until truck was moving. Cruise control worked intermittently.

ZELLIA QThe van cab and the box behind smelled of marijuana. Oroville has lots of illegal pot farms and they use your box vans to move product.

ELEANOR RI first scheduled my rental online with a U-Haul dealer that has been closed for a long time. Apparently, U-Haul refuses to remove that dealer from their list of local dealers. So, after some confusion, I had to change my pick-up location to a facility farther away. Gates at the pick-up facility were locked when I arrived at my scheduled time of 9 am. Mobile app glitches and slow software at the U-Haul dealer meant that I left the dealer closer to 10 am. Truck was filthy inside and out. "Mom's Attic" had a thick layer of dust. I could barely see through the truck's windshield because it was so dirty. In the early afternoon, I started getting warning texts from U-Haul to return the truck by 2 pm to avoid extra charges. As a result, I wasn't able to get all my moving done. When I arrived back at the U-Haul dealer around 1:45 pm, the gate was locked again, and I had to wait 15 minutes to get access to the U-Haul office inside the locked gate. One star added for the nice lady I talked to on the phone regarding the pick-up location change, and the dealer who has to put up with dealing with U-Haul Corporate daily.
GARY LNofrey Self Storage was great, would use them again. I notice though that there is no place to give the U-Haul company a rating? Maybe that's because when, after texting me my truck was ready, the truck was not there, and I forced into a more expensive smaller truck and trailer combo three hours after my original pickup time? And that was after I declined an offer to tow a trailer for them for $75. Going through the Sierra Nevada mountains on Hwy 20 is bad enough in a box truck let alone towing a trailer. So Nofrey's gets 5 stars but I'll go out of my way to never use U-Haul again. Their service is terrible.

David BI think the best thing you can do in the long run would be to start putting backup cameras in your trucks. It is very hard to back up using the mirrors when alone. Many people have backup cameras in their cars and have become very used to depending on them.

Toni OFor 2 day rental of a small truck I was charged 400$!!!!! And it’s 1$ a mile and I drove about 140 miles! Rip offfffff doesn’t even say the money before he charges u either be aware only credit cards cuz he can charge any amount n receive it!

Christopher BYour website needs work, and I did not appreciate your trying to force me to use a phone app to get things done. Not all of us are enamored of using phone apps for web sites. The information I inputted on the website did not transfer to your system when I came to pick it up. This ultimately created headaches and confusion on your part that could have been entirely avoided. Human interaction was fine, and I have known the agent for some time as I rented various storage spaces from Nofrey. But I found your computerized system to need work and was disappointing. As to the condition of the trailer, overall, it was excellent. This 6x12 handled well and there were no issues on my 550 mile trip. However, the latch bars that held the doors open were rusty, and while they were solid enough, really detracted from the feeling of good maintenance. On one side, the latch catch would not engage. These are minor in the scheme of things, but it does make one wonder what else might be neglected. Finally, a suggestion. The trailer reeked of marijuana. This is certainly not UHaul's fault, but a quick inspection, followed by airing out the trailer would have helped. Anybody that has worked with marijuana plants knows the smell gets into EVERYTHING. You might consider instituting a policy, similar to car rentals with their no-smoking policy, charging customers an additional fee who use your trailers for this purpose where the smell is very obvious.

DANIEL GPoor communiction from your rep which left me confused when dropping off the truck to this location. The gate was locked and I had no direction where to leave the truck. Had to call your 1 800 number and contact a rep on the chat line. Cost me to lose valuable time.

My overall experience was poor due to the day before I was supposed to pick up my 4x8 enclosed trailer at the uhaul in chico they called and said they were out of stock and no uhauls In a 50 mile radius had what I reserved . They told me I could drive 35 min to this Oroville uhaul and get a non enclosed trailer instead . I had to buy tie downs and a tarp that I shouldn't have had to purchase because the chico uhaul screwed up. The Oroville uhaul owner was great and didn't seem surprised like this happens alot.
