The man working at pick up was very unprofessional and, to be honest, made us very uncomfortable. He was pressing us to get the insurance coverage which I had initially declined and then ultimately decided to add as he refused to "tag" or write down the existing damage on the sheet. He also kept saying, "Well, if you get the coverage, then you don't have to worry about this." The suggestion being that, if I didn't get the coverage, he would find a problem even if we didn't cause any damage. He also didn't want to give me a final receipt for the rental. Since we were paying per mile, I wanted the odometer read and full charges disclosed. He kept telling me, "This isn't necessary. As long as you are within your agreed upon miles, you won't be charged any more than the amount held on your card." I argued that he could say the miles were anything if I didn't have a final total. I had to insist upon this multiple times before he grudgingly read the odometer and gave me the final bill. The whole thing was very shady and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The manager guy seemed very nice and I didn't get weird vibes from him at all, but the other guy who actually completed the rental paperwork made me super paranoid and uncomfortable.Sherri S.

I would recommend with caveats about the stairs and the vehicle key. (1) The manager of Northgate Self Storage was helpful and gracious; however, the key for the truck was tricky and needs to be replaced. The truck manufacturer or agent should be able to create a new properly fitting key. (2) The handle to release the brake worked but was bent. Moreover it was not apparent that was the brake release (a design fla, in my opinion). Manager was helpful about figuring it out. (3) The woman who took the reservation had a strong American Southern regional accent. My bad hearing meant that I could barely understand her. When I asked if someone else was available she said no. So we had to struggle through. It was challenging. She did her best to articulate her words and to repeat information until I got it. (3) The office at this location was not easily accessible to this arthritic person, being it is up a flight of stairs to the second floor. (But then the step up into the truck was so high I had to hang onto the steering wheel to pull myself up. I'm lucky my hip and knee could bend as much as required.)Beth B.
The place is a storage facility, and the office is upstairs. It's not much to look at but the fellow that works there is polite, direct, and efficient. They had the van I reserved at the designated time and I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I returned it within the time frame with the same gas and had no problems there. My online quote said 30-something dollars with protection, it ended up being 40-something when I got there, not sure if I missed something or if it didn't actually include the extra pricing in the online quote. There's not much signage so it can be a bit confusing to navigate your first time. Basically drive through the storage road and park at the end of the road before the exit. You'll usually spot your reserved vehicle there too. Even with the small price discrepancy I'd say 5/5.Mason F.

The paperwork had the wrong mileage. I took a photo of the odometer when I first got in the vehicle and took it to the office right away. The man listened to me but he did not change the paperwork. So I believe I got charged for too many miles. I am disappointed.Teresa H.

My truck was not onsite when I arrived. I made a simple request to have the attendant take my cell number and call me when my truck arrived but he refused to do so. Lucky for ME they returned the truck 15 minutes late. Otherwise I guess I would have sat in your parking lot for hours? Additionally I paid for 4 hours but was told I needed to have the truck back by 1 pm even though I didn't get it until 9:30 am . . . .so I paid for 30 minutes I didn't have a truck and there was no way to pro-rate my rental.Heather M.

Have an accurate representation of available inventory on the UHaul website. I actually made a reservation at a different location, only to then receive a phone call saying that the vehicle I had reserved wasn't actually available at the location I had chosen. The website and mobile method of renting/checking in is not very reliable. I had issues with having to take a picture of my DL (front & back) and submit it four different times, once at home on my computer and three times when I went to pick the van up. The van I rented was a bit dirty inside the cargo area; it had not been swept or cleaned out.John F.

I have rented from UHaul many times in the past with no issues. My last reservation, however, had some problems. I made the initial reservation online for a location that does not have after hours/weekend pickup available -- which was not made known to me at that time. I received a call from a UHaul agent the day before the scheduled rental and was told that it would need to be moved to another location and rescheduled for an hour later than my initial reservation. I can provide the text message confirmation showing the new location and new time of 1:30 pm. However, when I showed up at 1:00 pm to begin the check-in process, the attendant told me I had been scheduled to pick up at 12:00 pm. This created a severe time crunch for me, but I was able to complete my move on time and have the van back before its next reservation was due. In the end, everything worked out, but only barely. As I said, the shortened rental time that was then made available to me was very difficult to accommodate. There was a breakdown somewhere in your system between the agent calling me to reschedule and the correct information then being relayed to your UHaul system at the new pick up location.Jacob W.

I was told that the gas tank was full and I needed to return it at full. I drove 12 miles and had to put 3.2 gallons of gas in it, which means it definitely was not full when I picked it up. I ended up spending $15 on gas for 12 miles of driving. When I returned it, they said they only expect the "minimum" of gas to be refilled, not the "maximum", but how does that make any sense and that is an unattainable request. My reservation was changed to this location and a later time without notification which caused me to almost miss my reserved elevator time and forced me to drive and pay for extra miles to receive and return my truck. The staff at this loication was very helpful, but when I contacted online to ask for partial reimbursement for my order since there was no contact made to confirm reservation changes as stated in my order I was told this was impossible due to the "system". I am very dissapointed with this U-haul experience and will be seeking other moving services in the future who will notify me of reservation changes in a timely manner if they are necessary.John S.

I got unlucky and we found a small scratch on the uhaul when I returned it. Yes I signed the form agreeing the rental appear fine to me but there was not a good chance to view the rental thuroughly due to how the rentals were parked. It blocks off one side of the vehicle preventing clear access to inspect it. It happens to be on the same side that i got the scratch in. The agent did not inspect the car with me between usually it should be both parties inspecting the rental together. I took pictures but due to the inaccessible parking method used at this site....i did not get good pictures to convince the agent it was not my fault. I am still not really convinced that scratch showed up while I rented the vessel. Did not enjoy the experience at all. Yes i have partially biased because no one likes that experience but I am too looking at it from an objective point of view as well.SANG H.

My truck had a problem requiring customer service, as the UHaul employee was away from the desk. 1/800-GOUHAUL was a horrible experience. 8 minute wait to have my customer service call, which then passed me to a 48 minute wait to have my road service call answered. I'll recommend UHaul to anyone who yearns for an experience of abandonment.Dan M.

The storage facility met our needs. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rate was competitive. The floor and wall are wood and it is not deep cleaned, therefore if storing furniture, I would recommend wrapping or covering it to protect it.
