The man working at the counter was courteous. However the experience was marred by misrepresentation by the UHaul corporation. I was able to make my reservation to pick up the vehicle at 6am. Then once I had made all arrangements and had people prepared to help me, I was contacted by Uhaul to let me know that the facility doesn't open until 10am. The "customer service" representative informed me that if I was going to be getting a truck the next day I had to decide if I was going to have to wait until 10am (today was 100F) or drive an additional 10 miles each way to pick up a truck somewhere else. I asked if the additional miles would be covered by Uhaul and she said no. At .99 a mile and the additional fuel costs, this would have cost me somewhere between $30-$40 additional because Uhaul misrepresented what time the truck would be available - of course, it wouldn't cost Uhaul anything... they could charge for additional miles. I did decide to get the truck at 10am and when I did, the man at the counter said that the truck had a quarter tank of gas. It had 1/8th. Again, profit for Uhaul. Had I not notified the worker at the facility, taken pictures and raised general hell, I would have had to pay for gas to fill Uhaul's tank that I did not use. I find the behavior of Uhaul to be immoral, deceitful and disgraceful to wait until the last moment to do these things to people when Uhaul knows that they are already "against the wire". I am old, retired and have NOTHING better to do with my time that to tell as many people as I possibly can about Uhaul's predatory behavior. I hope to live a long healthy life just doing that.
