This was the best experience I've ever had with U-Haul, thanks to Dennis at the Clanton Rd location. I've had multiple AWFUL experiences with Uhaul the past (South blvd each time) and was frankly dreading having to go through this again. On our moving day this week, we had to leave the South blvd location as nothing was ready when we arrived and truly horrible customer service. Thankfully we drove past the Clanton Rd. location & Dennis made everything so simple and pleasant. It was night and day from the other ones I've been to. Thank you so much Dennis. People who care and want to help make all the difference. What a genuinely nice human being. We will to U-Haul again specifically because of Dennis. Thank you.Stephanie H.

They called us the night before and had to change the time our truck would be picked up despite the guarantee. The truck was in very poor condition and when we told the representative he told us â€œit'd be fineâ€. The truck was overheating frequently and we were concerned about serious damage to the truck and it possibly breaking down. He did not seem to share the same concerns.James O.
Was supposed to get a 15 ft truck and when we went to pick it up, they changed it to a 26 ft truck - way too big for city driving/our needs. They resolved it and we got a cargo van instead but it was a hassle.KAREN B.

I originally ordered a 10â€ box truck however a representative from Uhaul reached out and upgraded me to a 15â€ truck but at the same rate as the 10â€. However when i went to puck up my truck i was charged for the 15â€ rate, there was less than 1/8 tank of gas left in the tank. I was charged extra for a truck i didnt want, with no gas and now im being charged an additional $23 on top of everything.Casey C.

The pick up location was very poor. The truck was in very poor condition and filthy. The fact that we are in a pandemic and the cab was not even cleaned from last person with dirty seat, wheel windows , garbage and awful. Smelled and unacceptable. Also the truck did not start on first try and sounded like it was going to stall out. Then the check engine light came on. I spoke to manager and asked for another truck and they said can't provided. There was a newer truck on site and they refused to change for me. A newer truck was in the lot and they refused to exchange or find another location. I had a 900 mile trip ahead of me. The manager did nothing. I had to spend 30 minutes cleaning the cab before my trip and ride 900 miles staring at the check engine light. The truck made it but sounded like it was about to break down making all kinds of noises and whistles. I cannot believe Uhaul operates this way during a pandemic. I would like a major discount since I had to clean my own truck, ride with the worry of a check engine light and poor customer service. I would like to speak with a manager in addition to this response. I still have more to move but will not be using U-Haul. Please have someone contact me and I would appreciate a discount on the amount I paid in full upfront before all this happened. I would have never accepted the truck but I had been asked to pay prior to seeing the truck and was refused a change in vehicles. My van had a directional signal (left rear turn signal) that did not work. Also, the packing blankets that I ordered were not in the truck when I arrived (8am) and the facility was not open to get them. Finally, when I reserved by vehicle, I inquired about mattress covers (standard moving need available a other locations), and none were available.Robert V.

Firstly, this location never answers the phone. I rented a 20' truck for 4 hours (1:08pm- 5pm), which had cigarette ashes in the ashtray, and extra equipment in the back. I didn't think much of it because I was pressed for time. Upon returning, I was told by an associate to drop the keys in the drop box out front. I assumed this was COVID protocol (obviously there was no protocol because the truck was still dirty when I got it).I viewed my invoice the next day and I was charged a $50 cleaning fee, I was charged as if I didn't return it on time and the return wasn't logged until 9am the next morning. I was charged various fees for a â€œlate returnâ€, plus the cleaning fee, the equipment that I did not order, and twice the original rate. When I called to dispute the charges, I was on hold for 30 minutes. When someone finally answered, I was rushed off the phone as if the lady couldn't care less about my injustice. As I was beginning to explain the ordeal, she cut me off and told me to â€œcall corporate because we don't have access to financial recordsâ€. When I called â€œcorporateâ€, I was on hold for another 20 minutes, until the automated voice told me to â€œcall back tomorrowâ€ and ended the call. If the truck was never cleaned of the ashes, it definitely wasn't cleaned for COVID. I will not be returning to this location, besides to complain about the inaccurate billing.Brandon R.
While the attendant was helpful, she was unable to help me get the trailer off my hitch. After 2-3 tries, i managed to DROP the coupling off my hitch/ball. Somewhat dangerous. Tongue weight of the 6'x12' cargo trailer warrants having a device installed on trailer to crank up/down the trailer tongue. I am fortunate to only have a sore back - could have been much worse.Mary A.
Van was clean but missing main right side mirror. Also, while driving indicator flashed on and off that rear door was ajar but it wasn't...at night this caused interior light to come on and off while driving. I used the app to check in. The location services were too sensitive. I had to stand at the door of the office to get the location services to work while checking in. The truck was on the other side of the parking lot, and I had to check it in from 200 yards away. Also, it only had 1/2 tank of gas. This was extremely annoying because I had to fill it up half way to my destination and I had no idea how much I needed to put in since I had 2 hours of driving left. I ended up leaving 3/4 tank left.Matthew W.

I realize that we are in the midst of a crisis, but I understood that moving and the support involved with the process was considered essential. To have such a large operation completely shut down and devoid of help and people was horrible. The online checkout experience was awful as I got kicked off the site a couple of times. Having to rely on me to take multiple pictures and download them and send them to you is inexcusable. This was not Customer Service friendly regardless of what kind of crisis we are in. Having to unload my own vehicle off of the trailer, was a horrible experience, and I feel that I should be refunded part of the pricing I paid for my rentals. The wench on one part of the vehicle carrier Was defective, thus causing me to spend an hour of my time trying to fix your equipment problem, so I can unload my car. Again just an awful overall experience on this end of the rental. Could not have been more night and day in terms of locations and Customer Service.Richard P.
